I know Mike Ashley will never see this but I need to get some things off my chest.

I understand that Mr. Ashley is a businessman with no emotional attachment to Newcastle United.

To him, we are just another “acquisition”, albeit probably a frivolous one. One he thought he could have some fun with. Hence his initial “wearing the shirt” and hanging out with the supporters, downing pints and buying rounds…etc.

I also get that as a businessman, Mr. Ashley is an “asset stripper”. It’s how he makes his money. Buy something cheap that might still have some value to it, like NUFC admittedly, then break it into its composite parts, sell them off at a profit and f… off leaving nothing behind but unemployment and shattered lives. It’s what he does.

He’s not alone in it and he’s not breaking any laws.

Apart from the asset stripping, he has his cheap sports goods store. Again, nothing illegal there. Sweat shop labour, sure, but that’s all legal under the current government.

But, NUFC are now stripped down to the point that the only asset they have are the supporters. And you can’t sell them off, Mr. Ashley.

They turn up week after week to watch football but what you’re providing isn’t “football”. It’s purgatory. It’s not even bad enough to be shi… (Although, occasionally it gets close).

When you realise you’ve drained everything you possibly can from the club, will you then f… off?

I don’t think you will.

I think that now you think it’s funny to make us suffer because we were stupid enough to believe that you might actually have been good for the club when you first came in. But we have seen you sell us down the river time after time. And now, it’s just a game to you.

No one expects NUFC to be Champions of Europe, although there was a time not that long ago that that would not have seemed ridiculous.

We just want a club that competes. And an owner that cares.

And you can’t provide either of those things.

So, please…

F… OFF!

(Rant over)

Because it was any different under labour governments? Nowt like stating the obvious. Waste of time writing this and my own fault for reading it.

    • Jonas

      i thought that too
must be one of these politics zealots to even think that
Ashley bought the club and started its desicration under a Labour government – so roll on the lib-dems

      • Jake Burns

I wasn’t referring to the club there, rather Sports Direct which has around 90% of its employees on zero hours contracts. Something that the government doesn’t seem keen to bring an end to. (Not saying that any future government would be any different.)

  • Themoscow72

Did you watch the game Jake. We gave Man Utd a good run for their money both home and away. In fact we were the better side both games. You are not funny in the slightest and after the players gave their all can do without supporters like you. Rant over.

    • Sumit Sengupta

You were not better this time. Accept and move on. And yes, I watched the game.

      • drc74

        hes just a cxckwomble mate

        • Tommy

          He`s an idiot

        • Themoscow72

Man Utd sympathiser that sums you lot up support Man Utd rather than Newcastle a disgrace.

          • drc74

            😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
not a man u sympathiser, more of a realist, mind u being accused of that by a mike ashley sympathiser

      • Themoscow72

Your first real shot and that was a gift from the keeper. We could have been three up by then. You only won at Old Trafford as the ref and linesman missed a blatant pen.

        • Sumit Sengupta

Nobody gifts anything at this level. Mistakes by opposition are needed to be taken advantage of. This is how some goals are scored. And up by three? You could have 100 shots at the direction of goal; you can even shoot at an empty goal, but only those that go in, counts. Right?

Not talking about what the ref did at OT. I specifically said ‘this time.’ Ref spared Shelvy here but that happens. I accept the ref mistakes as part of the game.

I know it feels bad because I’m a long time fan of MUFC(for over 20 years) and during all this time, NUFC has been my second favourite team. That is why I visit here to keep tab on how things are going on. I don’t even live in Europe but still follow both the teams. But what is fact is fact and the fact is that you were not better this time and it is all because of Mr. Ashley.

          Have a nice day.

    • Gallowgate Dave

I was at the game last night Monk. We played reasonably well but it was ominous when they brought on Lukaku and Sanchez. The league is ridiculous when they can bring a player off the bench on £500,000 a week. We competed well, mostly due to Rafa’s ability to organise a team, the same Rafa that your mate is driving out the club with his refusal to even bother to communicate with him, but they still had 65% possession and while we had chances it’s not like we carved them open at any point. I think the players did as well as can be expected and there was even some applause from the Gallowgate to show respect for a hard working, honest effort under difficult circumstances. But this IS purgatory and it starts as always from a distant, disinterested owner who at best is just going through the motions. I’ve questioned your motives, never your commitment (or even existence like some!) for your comments on here and my wild guess is you are single, no kids, the club is your life and you have a certain amount of access/sources at the club that has led you to empathise with some of the people that maybe work within the club structure. Am I right or is my cod psychology wide of the mark? You’re not daft so that’s the only explanation I can think of for your staunch defence of Ashley when most of us veer between angry and just sheer boredom most of the time.

      • Themoscow72

Married and been with the same lass since school (42 years). Got two kids son got his first season ticket when he was four (his choice) daughter got hers when she was eight. Both have attended away games with me all over the country. I left University at the age of twenty and was the Financial Controller for Thomson’s (Tui) for the whole of the North East and Wales. On a different note been banned from St James’ Park three times as they have me down as a risk supporter. So you very wide of the mark there. Brian Standen knows me well.

        • Wezza

Leazes said you were ostrisized by your family and found it to be true so Dave has a point.
EIther way your love of the club is all great but why can’t you see that the FCB is ruining the club? Don’t mention Hall or Shephard because they actually spent money!!

          • Themoscow72

My family think I am nuts but we are a very happy unit.

          • Wezza

Well thats good. But can I ask you a serious question.
Why do you post comments such as Long Live Mike and Rafa Still gets every penny? You must have some doubt about the accounts and considering you said you worked helping the homeless do you realise FCB has actually made people homeless? That is a fact.

          • Themoscow72

Will gladly buy you a pint anytime at the Monkseaton Arms.
The accounts are not fixed and we have very little money. This will apply to the new owners to. To be truthful cannot see it getting much better unless we get some one in like a Chelsea or Man City chairman. Bit down after last night but cannot wait for Saturday that is what keeps me going.
Bought ten tickets last night for Blackburn some coming down from Glasgow and over from Holland such is the importance of the game.
Last night had two people fly over from America Washington D.C. typical yanks. Got them tickets for Liverpool and Watford as well but sadly they go home Friday so will be missing the start of a cup run.

          • Wezza

Well it is a good thing Mike let the club invest in a big squad! There won’t be a cup run either, sadly as I love the conpetition.

        • Gallowgate Dave

Haha fair play, thankfully I didn’t gan into psychology after uni myself then! In which case you are a mystery and I can’t work you out, you seem absolutely crackers but definitely not thick, I don’t mean that offensively, more an observation, but I’m guessing that’s not the first time you’ve been told that. The only reason we were even semi-competitive last night was because of Rafa and despite Ashley. Even if you truly believe Ashley is not an immoral, exploitative owner you’d have to be blind to peg him as anything other than remote, arrogant and disinterested. He’s fallen out with anyone who has the respect of the fans, Keegan, Hughton, Shearer and Rafa and I suspect the reason he chooses silence and distance when dealing with them is they’d clock he was a liar sooner if he’d had more contact with them. Rafa hoped he’d see the potential of the club but now knows he doesn’t after 3 years of disrespect.

        • Rabid Dog

Being banned from St. James is not something to be proud of. I’m not sure why you continue to think it is.

          • Themoscow72

Let us say just self defence on a few occasions not the other way round and certain people had it in for me.

          • Rabid Dog

None of which was your fault….. THREE TIMES.

          • Themoscow72

Proved in court so yes but I will always stand up for myself against scum bags.

        • Tweed Mag

Tui (Thomson) are 2.6 billion euros in net debt. They have a bond due this year, valued at over 900m euros.
It is much clearer now how you chuck figures about.

        • Vincent Gigante

          Risk to who?

      • Rabid Dog

MoscowMonk is indeed married with kids and an accountant. But his need for being centre of attention is very well known. He likes to, shall we say, embellish his acheivements, he also drops names (met him in the lift, had a pint with) and present his opinion as fact.

It is quite sad but each to their own.

        • Gallowgate Dave

Do you know him? His views are so extreme it’s hard not to be curious as he doesn’t strike me as a daft little internet troll who is easily dismissed. I genuinely think he thinks these things and isn’t daft yet some of his views are absolutely bonkers! I’ve always wondered if there was a hidden motivation such as an inside access at the club he loves or something like that.

          • Rabid Dog

I do. Although does not know who I am on here. Which is why I call him out when he tells fibs.

        • Themoscow72

Believe me I do not do any form of social media facebook, twitter or anything else for and could think of nothing else.
I came on here as was told it was anti club. All my views are honest and based and how I see it. I always keep a very low profile but if I mention anyone it is to do with the article in question eg met Merino in a lit and he was very down about being left out the squad.
I was once at a funeral where Shearer attended and while everyone went up to speak to him I did not as not my style at all.

    • Tweed Mag

As you know Monk, 29 per cent possession and 0-2 is not a run for their money.

    • Toon

Idiot – the difference in quality is shocking, Man Utd controlled the game and won with ease, how thick are you?

      • Themoscow72

We were two nil up down there and should have a penalty. Up here Atsu was through three times on goal before they managed a shot.
They only scored because our keeper dropped the ball.

    • Wezza

Most of the players gave their all except PEREZ!!!!!

    • Toon Arnie

Your opinion doesn’t matter – you’re a fraud. After you championed people leaving early every game and deserting the team you showed your true colours.

    • Squintytoonarmy

      Who was Steve Howeys source?

      • Tino o

        Mick quinn

        • Viru leckworth

          Such a reliable one.

          • Jonas

technically he said ‘after the Man United’ game, i suppose that could mean before Blackburn or before the end of time.

  • Marty had

Feeling V depressed after v watching match – yes we huffed & puffed etc and did well over the two games against Man utd but….Zero points to show and another Home defeat !! Not one of our players would get in their Squad or arguably reserve team !! When was the last time we scored at home ?? Bet Ashley never even watched game. Please may a take over happen soon!! HNY

  • Kenny

52,000 there to watch a load of shyte, t
he owner is going nowhere anytime soon, he just sits and laughs.

  • Alex

It’s now reched the stage where Ashley is no longer the biggest danger to NUFC, that mantle now belongs to those ‘fans’ who turn up and support him.

If people don’t like to hear this, then so be it, but that’s the plain truth of it all.

  • Amersham Mag

I watched Sunderland Till I Die last week..
First couple made me snigger and gloat, and after that came the realisation that unless we are rid of Ashley and get the RIGHT owner this could easily be us in a few years time…

    • Mr_Kinnear

Yes the similarities are frightening. Main difference is Rafa. At some point he will have had enough. Then either a SAFC or Leeds Utd scenario.

      • Geordiegiants

I would happily take it to be rid of the cancer.

        • Viru leckworth

Sunderland supporters had the same attitude before their relegation(S) They seem happy enough now. The difference is it was their managers they had the rant at with the owner coming second. At least he had the honesty to fall on his sword. The Ashley creature will not do that.

    • Geordiegiants

Will be sooner than a few years!

    • panther

Said the same the other day

    • Jonas

Its only because of Hughton, Benitez and a ridiculously loyal and/or large fanbase (unlike the mackems) that that hasn’t already happened.
      same with Blackburn and Blackpool.

Its in spite of Ashley we haven’t got there not because of him.

  • Tommy

I think Rafa`s tactics may be affecting the players, they are all over the shop.
wingers at full back, 3 central defenders when Lascelles obviously can`t play in that position and Rondon with no support as Perez just strolls around in flip flops.
    that wasn`t football lat night.

    • Geordiegiants

Honestly I thought exactly this last night. When are the doylems going to come out and start on Rafa again.
You must be off your nut if you place any blame what so ever on Rafa’s shoulders. OFF YOUR NUT!

    • Rabid Dog

The players we have are in my opinion, just not good enough to adjust to a different formation and tactical strategy. Perez is a great example. He does play much better as part of a front 2, but he’s playing as part of a midfield on the right. He’s simply clueless in this role….. Not his fault….. just not good enough

      • Kneebotherm8

The players we have are just not good enough quality, whatever the formation, to compete with a mega million assembled squad like Man U have…….thanks, once again,to the FCB…..

    • Billmag

How many chances would Rashford have put away given the same position’s Atsu found himself in.

  • TheFatController

There’s a motto out there : ‘I won’t let mike Ashley stop me going to games, I’ve always gone…’

What it actually means is ‘I won’t let Ashley stop me going to PL games, or top of the championship games. If it’s not fun in the championship though all this ‘the only way I get to meet my mates, it’s a social thing’ will turn into ‘they’re not worth watching, I haven’t been all season….’

So let’s not get too hung up on the 50k that turn up. It’ll soon be half that once we’re relegated and no one wants to sign and no youth come through..

    • Tommy

      Wishful thinking

  • Dillon Tovak

Not sure how this can be described as a classic rant.
More like repeating what we’ve read 10 times each week for the last how ever many years.

  • Toon

It’s boring reading this sort of stuff now, nothing changes, fans are gullible and Ashley just takes the p*ss.

    • Jake Burns

I know it’s boring, mate. I agree. I’d just got back after last night’s game and I needed a rant.

      • Phildene

So if you feel as passionate about the club and the way it’s heading under Ashley, it begs the question of why are you still going? I actually agree with every word you said, but the difference between us and you is we had the bottle to cancel our season tickets years ago, when the morbid atmosphere in the stadium was indeed like a morgue. We had the 10 year deal and cancelled it in the January and have never missed it under Ashley. We simply could not give him anymore of our money. For us, if you still go the the matches you deserve everything you get, so don’t come on here complaining as you’re part of the reason he is still here!

        • Jake Burns

Sadly, I can’t go as I live in the U.S. However, I do get up at ludicrous hours of the day to watch the games on t.v. In the pub, which helps dull the pain.

          • Phildene

So did you actually go to the match then or watch it in a pub in the States? You say you had just got home? I’m just trying to clarify things Jake.

          • Jake Burns

Watched in a pub here. Then went home and felt the need to vent.

          • Phildene

Fair enough Jake. I was out of order as thought you had actually been to the match. Good rant and well deserved

  • richard bell

    Who named this article?

  • Albert Stubbins

    Alternative Ashley!!

  • Wezza

    Spot on words Jake.
    I second this:

‘leaving nothing behind but unemployment and shattered lives. It’s what he does.’

    • Themoscow72

Ashley the very one man saving jobs. It’s the others going into administration that are betraying the British public and he keeps bailing these companies out.

      • Geordie-7676

you really are an absolute cretin!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Mike

after 55 years ive had it. I hope we go down 40k drop the season tickets and the club is worth nowt to this leech.

    • Themoscow72

Enjoy your retirement there is always out door bowls, the Metro centre or take up fishing.

      • Jewell Ahmed

At least he will no longer be taking it up the backside from uncle Mike like you every other week.

    • Jonas

That’s brutal and i feel for and respect you for it. I hadn;t put anywhere the same number of years in (1989-2013) and can say that sadly, very sadly, I haven’t missed it at all and have had no inclination to return. Thanks Ashley.

  • Tino o

Unfortunately jakes rant and the open letter will be the subject of humour in the pub with Ashley this afternoon . These things do not bother him! He was bothered by protests at his shops tampering with his website and the threat of boycotts. Anything that costs him money. Well done TMG for putting a stop to that

    • Jonas

I hope, but havev doubts, once this fake-over saga is over they’ll be back with avengeance reinvigourated having just been messed about for the 100th time – and with the increasing liklihood of relegation.
Had a look at the magiepie group site the other day, seems like its not been updated for a while.

  • Jonas

    read this too:
the club is in a perpetual downward spiral – its value is only going down, other clubs that are trying (look it up in the dictionary) will inevitably surpass us as we inevitably fall behind them (relegation). Even a top manager can’t do anything about the differential.
To maintain its slow, sure decline you’ll have to release funds, to improve the situation you’ll have to at least match the other teams (less money for you). Players wages and transfer fees are only going up (less money for you), more and more clubs are willing to meet them. It is only downhill from here (in fact since last October when you didn’t sell).
Crowds will drop, status will drop (less money for you) to get them back you’ll have to release the clubs funds (less money for you)

it is in everybody’s best interests for you to sell.

    • Viru leckworth

By “to maintain” do you mean to reverse? Otherwise it doesn’t make sense to me.

      • Jonas

no, just to maintain the direction we’ve had since he came here is going to cost money – considering everybody else’s investment is only going up.

There’s just simply no chance he’d fund a reversal of the rot that he’s caused as its just too deep.

        Best to sell.

  • KennySamsung

Good post by the author and the last line we all agree with. Is it possible to hate someone so much? yes it is!

The man is an embarrassment to himself and everyone who has the misfortune to have anything to do with him.
Air is wasted on this man and I hate the fact he has anything to do with my club.

What is disappointing is that the law enables an individual to control how thousands of people enjoy their leisure time. He knows he is p!$$!ng people off (within the law) and that is very powerful.

We live in a world where I reckon most people care, it is a useful habit to get into and it enables us to function in a normal way. The dregs of society live a lie, they build a fictional world around themselves because they either have no friends or they control people simply to support their lie. They believe they aren’t doing anything wrong, well why would they if the law says ‘no problems’.

Ashley comes into this slimey world where people are either an annoyance or are their to run around after him. He thinks he owns people (in our case fans) nothing, but the shocking news Mr Ashley is …. people put you where you are, how dare you ever forget that!!
