All the January transfer window signings made by Premier League clubs so far

The January transfer window has been a slow burner so far.

Certainly where Newcastle United are concerned…

All of the signings by Premier League clubs are listed below, all eight of them!

However, it is what is happening at the bottom end that most interests/concerns Newcastle fans.

Whether you think they are the right signings are not, at least Fulham (one signing) and Huddersfield (two) have made efforts to try and improve their team/squad.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s opponents Cardiff are the team that could be making the big headlines very soon.

At the moment looking Newcastle’s biggest rivals for the third relegation spot, they are currently in talks to sign striker Emilano Sala for around £20m, as well as taking Everton forward Oumar Niasse on loan with an option to make it permanent (see below).

Also, Bournemouth are a club who are increasingly being compared to Newcastle United when it comes to showing ambition…or not.

With great form early in the season they are on 27 points but the south coast club are looking to make sure they correct their recent run of two wins, one draw and eleven defeats in their last 14 matches (all competitions).

They have already bought Solanke from Liverpool for £19m and loaned Nathaniel Clyne from the same club, now  they are set to buy defender Chris Mepham from Bournemouth for £15m.

I have to say, that (Bournemouth’s) level of January transfer window activity/ambition is what should be happening at Newcastle United.

Maybe not those exact same players but certainly commitment to the transfer fees/wages needed to bring in the players Rafa Benitez desperately needs/wants.

BBC Sport:

‘Cardiff City are interested in signing Everton striker Oumar Niasse on loan, with an option to make the move permanent.

The Senegal international has fallen out of favour at Goodison Park this season, making only seven appearances.

Niasse joined Everton in the January transfer window in 2016 for £13.5m from Lokomotiv Moscow and has scored nine goals for the Toffees.

Cardiff are also keen on Argentine striker Emiliano Sala from Nantes.’
