Rolando Aarons is on his way back to Newcastle United.

The winger’s loan spell at Slovan Liberec has ended.

Left without a shirt number or place in Rafa Benitez’ Premier League squad, Rolando Aarons made a loan move in August to the lowly domestic league of the Czech Republic.

Saturday’s final match was a drab 0-0 draw at Bohemians 1905, Rolando Aarons subbed off in injury time.

The game played in front of only 3,041 spectators.

Only starting eight of the club’s 19 league matches, nevertheless Aarons claimed ‘I loved my time here, the club is one big family and I will miss everybody there.’

The Czech Republic league now breaks for winter and doesn’t return until February.

The NUFC player appearing to make clear he won’t be coming back after the new year.

Rolando Aarons didn’t manage a single goal or assist (stats via WhoScored) in his Czech Republic league matches and it was the same last season on loan when relegated with Hellas Verona from Serie A.

Indeed, you have to go back to the 2015/16 season for the player’s last league goal or assist.

With still two and a half years left on his contract, it remains to be seen what happens next.

However, impossible to see Rafa Benitez having any role for the winger in the second half of this season, indeed, it would be amazing if he even got a place in the 25 man PL squad for the second half of the season.

Surely the only option is to find another loan option in January elsewhere.

Rolando Aarons:

“Thanks so much for the experience (at Slovan Liberec).

“I loved my time here, the club is one big family and I will miss everyone there.

“I wish everyone the best for the second half of the season!!”
