Rafa Benitez delivers post-Liverpool transfer update – No new signings arranged for January

Rafa Benitez has delivered a stark message to Newcastle fans.

After watching his team crushed 4-0 by Liverpool, the manager was quizzed about the upcoming  transfer window.

With his team desperate for quality, creativity and goals, the Newcastle boss was asked if progress had been made on early signing(s) once the transfer window opens, he simply replied ‘no’.

Then asked if this worried him, Rafa Benitez said ‘yes’.

Rafa says he has been been speaking to Lee Charnley and he feels that this next window is not going to be easy.

After being blocked by Mike Ashley from signing anybody in January 2017 and then restricted to only loans in January 2018, the writing is surely on the wall.

Rafa Benitez likes to have signings lined up ahead of any window and so it clearly won’t be for want of a lack of trying on his part.

For those still believing Miguel Almiron will be arriving for £24m+, good luck!!!!

Rafa Benitez:

“Obviously you have to be disappointed because we started the game really well.

“We made a mistake in the first goal but we were still in the game.

“Starting the second half with a lights off penalty and it changed everything.

“At 2-0 down against a very good team, we were a little bit open and exposed, they (Liverpool) played really well.

“Two key moments of the game, the first goal and second goal.

“They gave us too many problems the rest of the game.

“Obviously we will try to do our best at Watford and forget quickly what we did wrong here and learn from it.”

Rafa Benitez was asked after the 4-0 defeat if Newcastle were close to making an early signing in January:

 “No.”

Then when asked if that worried him?

“Yes.

“I was talking with Lee Charnley and still I have the same feeling: that it will not be easy (in January transfer window).”
