Rafa Benitez met up with the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s match.

Newcastle take on Wolves as they try to build on a six match run where they have picked up 11 points.

Wolves are currently six points and two places ahead of the Magpies.

The NUFC boss had good news today, confirming he is set to have two Newcastle stars back in contention.

Kenedy missed Everton because of a toe injury but Rafa confirmed he is now training again and if he trains ok on Saturday, he will be in the squad.

Paul Dummett was injured when away with Wales last month, his hamstring injury has now cleared up and Rafa Benitez says that he will also be in contention against Wolves, once more though with the proviso that he doesn’t have any setback in training tomorrow.

The pair are of course first choice players and make up the usual left hand side of the team.

Even more credit to the team at Everton for picking up a deserved draw despite missing a number of players.

The Manager also stated that he hasn’t spoken to Mike Ashley this week, after the owner claimed on Monday that he was close to selling the club.

Rafa Benitez:

“Kenedy is fine, he has been training… hopefully he can train tomorrow, and then he will be available.

“If Dummett trains tomorrow without any problem, he is another option.

“Wolves are a very good team – they have had the same manager for a while and have been playing the same way.

“This group of players deserve credit because they are doing a fantastic job.

“The team has confidence that he (Rondón) can be on the end of crosses.”

  • Rich Lawson

Murphy and Kennedy on either wing.

    • Wor Lass

I take it Ritchie`s available. Rafa may prefer his experience if he`s going with wing-backs. I certainly hope Kenedy would replace Manquillo on the left. The lad tries and was better against Everton by all accounts but I don`t think he`s good enough to cope with the Wolves players.

      • Kenny

something going on there he keeps getting subbed even when he`s doing ok

        • BigHairyDog

Rafa would’ve upgraded Ritchie for better in the summer if he’d been given the money. Same with Diame and a few others.

          • Kenny

True, but it`s never going to happen with Ashley

        • Burt Humperdink

If you mean with Ritchie, isn’t it the consensus that he wishes to move down south to be closer to his family?

          • Ram Kishore

Did he ever reveal something like that or was there any report about Ritchie wanting to move down? Where did u hear about it?

Only Hayden was demanding a move.

          • Burt Humperdink

Yeah in the summer there was murmurs that like Hayden he wanted to be closer to his kids. Not sure if he and his old lady have split and she’s gone home. Hence the rumours about him going either back to Bournemouth or to Southampton.

          • Ram Kishore

I did remember the Bournemouth and stoke rumors. Not the Saints one and the thing about his personal stuff. As of now he’s stayin until the end of the season, so it’s all fine IG.
Still wondering what is going on with Hayden

  • Kenny

If Muto doesn`t play on Sunday then he`s either on the schitt list or like Mbemba he no speeky the English.

    • Ram Kishore

Mbemba had 3 years.. Muto has been here for only 4 months..
Always in a hurry and impatient with our players Ken. Give him some time.

    • mentalman

      Kenedy can’t speak english

    • Rabid Dog

Muto will get 20 minutes as a sub, subbed for Perez who will likely start. Dummet might get 60 if he starts, that is of course if he’s played at all. Ki out, Shelvey in. Diame will play the full 90 mins /sigh. Clark will be benched.

  • BigHairyDog

I hope Rafa keeps the inverted wingers/inside forwards, they seem to be more effective than playing wingers the old fashioned way. May be give Shelvey a more freedom to play further up and get the 3 behind the 1 interlinking more.
