The Premier League form table ahead of Newcastle United taking on Wolves.
When you have a defeat like Newcastle did at home to West Ham, it is easy to get too carried away with it, losing 3-0 to average team in front of your own fans tends to have that effect.
Plus it was a sixth home defeat out of eight games, not great.
However, I think certainly with that defeat to the Hammers, it has to be taken in the overall context of what has been happening October.
As you can see below, Newcastle are actually fifth top in the Premier League form table.
Rafa’s team picking up 11 points in the last six games, more than Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and the rest.
As for Sunday’s opponents, Wolves went into this midweek rock bottom of the Premier League form table, with only one point from six games.
With defeats to Huddersfield, Cardiff, Brighton and Watford, their season looked to be in a nosedive amid rumours of manager Nuno being under threat.
However, this season, Wolves have got a lot of attention due to their results and performances against the better teams, early draws at Man Utd and Man City, then another one at Arsenal.
A close 3-2 defeat to Spurs recently, they were up against Chelsea in midweek.Going a goal behind it looked bleak, only for two strikes after the break dramatically turning the game around.
A great result for Wolves, especially their manager. A badly timed (for NUFC) shot of confidence for the visitors.
In the full table, Wolves are 12th,two places above Newcastle but six points ahead. This feels the type of game where Newcastle need to win, if they hope to start breaking away from the seven club relegation pack that they head at the minute, with only four points separating the seven. To then try and start attaching themselves to a group of eight clubs only separated by five points, led by Everton in sixth with 23 points, 10 ahead of Newcastle.
