Predicted Newcastle team v Huddersfield for today

Saturday afternoon sees a perfect opportunity for Rafa and his players to get back on track, the predicted Newcastle team v Huddersfield below.

Who will Rafa Benitez go for?

The Newcastle boss has to make at least one change with DeAndre Yedlin suspended after his red card.

Friday brought confirmation that another five of the first team squad would definitely be missing as well.

Back up defender Jamie Sterry played for the reserves last night at Southampton as he continues his return from injury, whilst Florian Lejeune is in the same position, Rafa Benitez saying he won’t be risked yet in the first team.

Karl Darlow is also still sidelined with injury, Federico Fernandez ruled out, whilst bad news on Jonjo Shelvey with Rafa saying it will be another week and a half before they once again assess the midfielder’s condition.

Despite those missing, Rafa Benitez still has decisions to make in his Newcastle team v Huddersfield.

I think he will definitely go with three/five at the back after it worked well at both Burnley and Everton.

My prediction is that the manager will go with Dummett, Lascelles and Schar as his three defenders/centre-backs, then Kenedy and Manquillo playing as wing-backs.

This would make Ciaran Clark the unlucky one.

The Irish defender could well end up in the team as one of the three central defenders and possibly Dummett as a wing-back.

Ki and Diame look nailed on to start, with Ritchie and Rondon also obvious ones to play.

Maybe the biggest decision will be between Muto and Perez.

Newcastle lack pace and before getting injured, the Japanese striker had began to show form and an attacking threat, I fancy him to get his chance today. He should be back to somewhere close to full fitness now, having been on the bench the last couple of matches.

This being my predicted Newcastle team v Huddersfield:

A team that will hopefully get Newcastle back on track, after only one point from three games so far in December.
