Predicted Newcastle team v Everton for Wednesday

Wednesday night sees an early opportunity for Rafa and his players to get back on track, the predicted Newcastle team v Everton below.

Who will Rafa Benitez go for?

The Newcastle boss has to make at least one change with Matt Ritchie suspended after his fifth yellow card.

However, I think it is a good bet that there will be more than just the one.

The three/five at the back seemed to work really well at Burnley and Rafa may have regretted not keeping it for West Ham.

Manquillo was shocking and whatever happens, I can’t see him keeping his place.

With Dubravka in goal, going back to three centre-backs could then have Kenedy and Yedlin as wing-backs.

Fabian Schar chose a particularly bad time to have a poor game with Lascelles back in the matchday squad on Saturday. I can see Clark and Lascelles coming back into the team to play alongside Federico Fernandez.

A bit harsh on Schar obviously but it would be no surprise to see Rafa bring is captain back in, whilst the left-footed Clark gives balance.

The options aren’t great in terms of replacing Ritchie like for like, Atsu came off the bench  against West Ham and was once again terrible.

I can see Jonjo Shelvey definitely starting and making up a three man midfield with Diame and Ki, to try and get some control of the game.

Muto wasn’t even able to make the bench against the Hammers so the forward alternatives will be limited.

I wouldn’t be that surprised to see this being the type of game where Rafa might use Perez as his sole striker as he has occasionally done in the past, the win at Stoke last season a prime example of when it has worked.

On balance though I think he will keep both Rondon and Perez in, plus at least with Wolves being on Sunday, the likes of Rondon has an extra day to recover.

This being my predicted Newcastle team v Everton:

newcastle team v everton

A team that will hopefully get Newcastle back on track..
