Poll results now in after we asked fans: How much will biggest Newcastle United January signing cost?
On Monday we asked Newcastle fans the question: ‘How much will biggest Newcastle United January signing cost?’
Rafa Benitez obviously desperate to add quality to his relegation threatened squad but supporters discussing how much the manager will, or won’t, be allowed to spend.
This is how we summed up the situation:
‘It is that exciting time of the year coming up once again, the mid-season transfer window, or as fans of Newcastle United like to call it, January.
We are asking fans the question on Christmas Eve, a week ahead of the window opening; ‘How much will biggest Newcastle United January signing cost?’
The form doesn’t suggest great things, with nobody at all signed in January 2017 as Mike Ashley blocked all of Rafa’s attempts to strengthen his team/squad.
Then January 2018 saw the NUFC manager blocked from buying any players, limited to only loan deals.
However, there has been exciting talk of Newcastle being set to pay £24m+ for Miguel Almiron….
Although over two weeks have now passed since the season finished and the Paraguayan playmaker helped Atlanta United lift the MLS Cup, with no positive update, only recycling of te same old stuff by the newspapers.
So what do you think will happen in January, how far will Mike Ashley go to help Rafa Benitez?’
In your opinion: How much will biggest Newcastle United January signing cost?
This is how the voting went:
55% £0m (No signings or only loans)
9% £1 – £4m
18% £5m – £8m
8% £9m – £12m
4% £13m – £16m
6% New club transfer record…
So only 6% of Newcastle fans believe that the 2005 Michael Owen £16.8m club transfer record will be beaten next month.
In total, only 18% of supporters believe more than £8m will be spent on a single signing in January.
The standout stat surely though, is that 55% think this January will be the same as the last two mid-season windows. No players bought at all and only the possibility of loan signings at best.
