A midweek programme of Premier League fixtures and on Tuesday night it couldn’t have gone better for Newcastle United.

Four games and all four results went for Rafa Benitez and his team.

Newcastle started the night in fifteenth but actually have risen a place to fourteenth.

After the weekend results Crystal Palace were one place and one goal above the Magpies but a 3-1 defeat for Palace has seen NUFC go above on goal difference.

Elsewhere, both Cardiff and Huddersfield lost, which ensured they stayed below Newcastle.

Bournemouth are sixth after beating David Wagner’s team 2-1, whilst consecutive wins have seen West Ham move up to 12th, their 3-1 win over Cardiff following up the 3-0 drubbing of NUFC.

Even the fourth game of the night went Newcastle’s way, as Watford lost 2-1 at home to leaders Man City.

Watford are still 11th on 20 points but they look to be repeating the collapses of previous seasons.

Newcastle’s 1-0 win over the Hornets has kicked off a run of five games with only one point from a possible 15.

Tonight’s results hopefully lifting a little bit of pressure off Newcastle which could help them play with a bit more freedom at Everton tomorrow night.

Tuesday Premier League results:

Bournemouth 2 Huddersfield 1

Brighton 3 Crystal Palace 1

West Ham 3 Cardiff 1

Watford 1 Man City 2

Pity we have Everton away . .

  • HarryHype59

Looking over our shoulder and hoping there are three teams worse than this one, is as good as it’s going to get under Ashley.

Not to mention that where once we needed the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc to do us a favour by beating our fellow strugglers, now we are hoping that more upwardly mobile clubs like Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton can do the honours. Ever decreasing circles.

  • nufcslf

Hardly worth getting carried away with really. 14th on 12 points, botton on 8. Safe as houses………

  • Vodkamagpie

Wouldn’t say it was perfect, draws for Brighton and west ham would of been nice, maybe a 5-0 man city win to dent some confidence

  • Steven05

Suppose we stay up. Then what?

Another round of Newcastle “everybody happy watching mediocre football” United.

  • KennySamsung

We could get a draw at Everton but if they score first……. it’s not going to be good viewing, fingers crossed it’s a close game we stick to them like toffee.

    • Peaky

Was the toffee pun intended ? 😂

      • KennySamsung

        😉 definitely intended

  • Peaky

FFS…..only 14/15 games in and we are looking at other results wanting those around us to fail…..what a sad sad situation….but alas reality under the Fattwat…

Isn’t it just! We can’t keep relying on other teams losing – that’s a recipe for relegation!

  • Kenny

3 pts above the relegation zone & Everton tonight, what a mess,
then we have the Rats PR [email protected] pedal to the metal to try by any means to stymie a boycott of the Wolves match.

  • Cockneytrev

It could be the least amount of point ever keeping you up this season,,

    • Kenny

i agree, i think 34 will keep a club up, there`s a big pile of shyte in the bottom 8 or so and Newcastle are 1 of them

  • LA toon

At least we will be 14th after tonights game!!

    • magpiefifer

Only if we avoid a 2 goal defeat!!
