In a desperate match, Newcastle failed to have a single effort on target, whilst Fulham rarely threatened either, so candidates for man of the match were a bit thin on the ground…
Almost by default, Martin Dubravka (6.1) gets it for Newcastle. He was once again very decent with what little he had to deal with apart from when caught in two minds near the end, Mitrovic almost catching the keeper in possession inside the box, the Slovakian international simply lucky that Mitro somehow failed to connect with the ball.
Only four other Newcastle players managed the faintest hint of respectably, scoring 5.0 or higher.
Paul Dummett (5.3) doing relatively ok on his return, whilst Jamaal Lascelles (5.2) was shaky at times but made a valuable block towards the end, then a last ditch tackle in the final seconds that prevented what looked a certain goal.
Ki (5.2) was the best of a bad bunch trying to move the ball forward, then we had Salomon Rondon (5.2) fighting a lone battle up front.
In terms of the very lowest marks we had the two players who were supposedly giving Rondon the closest support.
Both woeful on the day, Christian Atsu (3.5) was just beaten by Ayoze Perez (3.3) when it came to being the very weakest in the team.
As for the other four, they struggled to contribute in any significant way.
Schar (4.8) slightly better than the other three, as Manquillo (4.4) did little to suggest he should have been selected ahead of Yedlin, whilst Diame (4.4) was poor once again in midfield and Ritchie (4.4) looked uncomfortable playing as a fifth defender.
