Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

Newcastle’s two best players this season, also happen to be the fans’ collective choice as the best two performers at Goodison Park.

Keeper Martin Dubravka (8,6) topping another excellent performance with an against the odds save that helped earn Newcastle a point.

Similarly, Federico Fernandez (8.2) was very good in the three centre-back formation, like Dubravka he capped his display with a block that prevented a certain goal.

Two other players got 7.0 or better.

Salomon Rondon (7.2) battled away in the lone role without a great deal of help much of the time and the one clear chance that came his way, he buried.

Meanwhile Fabian Schar (7.0) had another very good game and BBC Sport reported that he made the most defensive clearances (12), interceptions (5) and tackles (5) of any other player on the pitch.

Another five players had half-decent ratings of 6.0 or better.

Ki Sung-yeung (6.7) was once again involved in pretty much all of Newcastle’s moves forward and worked hard defending, as did pretty much everybody else.

Jacob Murphy (6.5) did ok and once again showed a glimpse of what he is capable of, beating his man for pace and putting in a brilliant cross with his weaker foot for the goal.

Jamaal Lascelles (6.4) came back in and did ok, whilst DeAndre Yedlin (6.3) was his usual energetic self.

Christian Atsu (6.0) improved on what he has shown so far this season and it was a case of what might have been when he produced a weak shot with his weaker foot when given the chance to beat Pickford in the last minute.

The only two to drop below the 6.0 line were Javier Manquillo (5.7) and Mohamed Diame (5.7), maybe a bit harsh on the pair of them as they battled away with the rest of them.

  • Kenny

I know there`s a massive gulf in class but that kid Sorensen seems to be in the right place at the right time to score.
he`s no Shearer but all good strikers have that ability.

    • Rich Lawson

Give him some game time now.

      • Kenny

        Bench at least

      • DeadToiler

        Yes

    • Wor Lass

I agree with that. Don`t throw him in at the deep end but get him involved. If results keep going OK then rafa should feel he can afford to do that.

  • Geordiegiants

Outs better than our top scorer!

    • Kenny

      😂😂😂😂

  • mentalman

Schar seems to perform better in a 3 than when its just 2 centre backs

    • Wor Lass

He`s not quick so maybe he feels like he has more back-up. He`s a much better player than he looked in his first game. I reckon 3 at the back with wing-backs is our soundest formation at the minute.

      • mentalman

We have a lack of pace in our cb’s.

I like it when we play 3 at the back, it’s definately our best formation with the players we have available
