If you ave nay intention of going to the Newcastle v Blackburn FA Cup match, make sure you get your tickets in advance.
Once again using a carrot and stick approach to find out the likely crowd in advance so they can plan for it, the club are offering tickets for a reasonable £10 and £5 (concessions). However, if you wait until the day of the game then those prices double.
There was initial confusion as to when the game would actually take place but the kick-off was eventually confirmed as a 5.30pm start on Saturday 5 January. The time moved for the benefit of overseas TV viewers, though it won’t be screened in the UK.
Full ticket details are below but from noon today, season ticket holders and members can buy multiple tickets.
The general sale for everybody then starts at 10am on Monday (17 December).
Last season, Newcastle won 3-1 at home to Luton in the third round, before a weakened team was hammered 3-0 away at Chelsea.
It is still a shameful statistic that under Mike Ashley, Newcastle have never got past the fourth round of this competition.
For many years it was Ashley’s stated policy not to try in the cup competitions, with that policy basically continuing as Rafa Benitez has been left in a position where lack of investment and squad depth makes it all but impossible to have anything like a decent go at cup competitions. The NUFC owner reducing Newcastle’s ambitions at the moment to simple survival in the top tier.
