Huddersfield fans comments ahead of Newcastle United match – Very enlightening

Huddersfield fans find themselves in the bottom three ahead of facing Newcastle United.

Last season the Terriers surprised many/most people when staying up with relative ease after promotion.

Today though looks a six pointer for both clubs and both teams have six or so players absent through injury and suspension.

No other Premier League club has scored less than the 10 and 13 that Huddersfield and Newcastle have respectively scored.

David Wagner’s team are actually one of the few clubs to have a worse home record than Newcastle this season, only five points from eight matches compared to Newcastle’s six from nine games at St James Park.

With only three goals at home it has been especially painful for Huddersfield fans to watch.

A lot of discussion amongst them as to just how good, or not, Salomon Rondon is, as well as what impact Jonjo Shelvey’s absence will have.

Interesting comments on both their own team and on Newcastle United.

Huddersfield fans comment on their top Down At The Mac message board:

‘I fear we’re going to be looking at record-breaking numbers today – I’ve got us down as probably having 10 glove wearers.’

‘A toon fan said to me today..’we are sh.. you are sh.. May the least sh.. team win

Must win game..

Will be nervous, emotional, but ultimately victorious..

1-0 Town.’

‘Thing is Town are not sh..

As a Wolves fan said to me after the game: “How were your lot bottom of the table”

In general we are playing good football.

The thing that worries me is that in games you think we are targeting to win, the performances have been poor, Cardiff, Fulham & Brighton.’

‘Newcastle fans seem to think if Mooy isn’t playing they will automatically win – they will be shocked that we play someone else instead of him.’

‘Big game but I see no reason why we can’t get the win. First goal will be massive. If Newcastle get it then we will really struggle to break them down.’

‘My big worry about Saturday is that Rondon will get a chance and bury it, burying us in the process. If we can keep Rondon under wraps we might have a chance but Newcastle have a way better squad than we have and can score.’

‘Didn’t we face him twice last season while completing a double over his WBA team?’

‘10 goals in his last 48 premier league appearances is hardly something to keep our defence awake at night.

Newcastle have scored 3 goals more than us this season which equates to 0.1875 more goals a game, again, hardly a stat we should be running scared from.’

‘It’s bad times if we are shi..ing ourselves over Rondon.’

‘Is it a must win game ?

Imo most of us think it is.’

‘I’d only take their keeper, Shelvey, maybe Perez and Kennedy, rest no better than our starting 11.’

‘Christ we’d kill for someone like Rondon right now.’

‘Really – He has scored in TWO Newcastle PL matches this season out of 11 appearances.

Yes a better return than our strikers BUT someone we’d kill for??? Typically overreactive nonsense again!’

‘It’s 2 more than both of our strikers combined.

Kill, maybe not. Permanently maim, probably.

I personally like Rondon and think he would fit our system well. He would be number one striker if he was here.’

‘Mooy’s injured so we need to be positive and focused as I’m sure mr Wagner and team are.

I’m looking at the positives that we have in bacuna (good promising cameo at the arse) Billing, Hogg playing well and we will set up with a new system that might just take the barcodes by surprise as they’ll see us (like the nation does) as a one man team in mooy. Let’s hit hard with tenacity and energy from the off and bring three points.’

‘It’s a 50/50 game for me. Both teams have different qualities in different areas. Neither scoring. Both have injuries and suspensions. It will be a war of attrition, whoever wants it the most.’

‘Lets hope Rafa gets the Manager of the Month curse…’

‘Bottom line here is town only have to be better than three teams in this ” SEVEN TEAM ”  mini survival league and feel tomorrow sees one one them visit the J S S .

No Shelvey has to be a massive plus , but someone needs to score a goal if we are to win this game.’

‘Just woke from dreaming that MOTD were doing an analysis on our young midfield duo of Bacuna/Billing on how they ripped Newcastle apart. Let’s hope.’

‘Games dont get much bigger than this one.

Hopefully can enjoy it.’
