Fulham fans comments about the Newcastle match – Interesting
Fulham fans saw their team draw 2-2 at Brighton in their second away game of the season, 16 weeks later the travelling supporters still haven’t seen them pick up another point.
Their away record reads played nine, lost eight and drawn one, scoring six and conceding a massive 24 on the road at almost three a game on average.
Interested to read what the Fulham fans are saying a few days before Christmas, a few optimists thinking a first away win of the season could be on the cards, whereas the majority appear to wonder whether they will win another game this season, home or away!
Around £100m was spent this summer and the mood seems to be that this money was wasted.
All eyes of course will be on Aleksandar Mitrovic, Fulham have scored 16 goals and Mitro has scored seven goals and got two assists, so at least on the surface it appears that if you stop the former Newcastle striker then it is more or less job done.
Mitrovic as scored in four of the five games when Fulham have picked up points this season, six goals in total in those five games, further suggesting that stopping him scoring and the supply line are the biggest obstacles to a Newcastle victory.
‘I cannot see us losing, so I am going for a score draw.
Famous Last Words of course.’
‘Cannot see us winning again with this squad.’
‘Think we will get 7 points from next three games, staring with a win against Newcastle.
Call me optimistic, but there have been signs of a decent team within the performances starting with Liverpool away (and disregarding first half against Man U). I think the pieces will finally fall in place.’
‘Really hope so. It would be a Huge win in keeping Newcastle within range of the bottom lot. Definitely the kind of win that could be a turning.point.’
‘Don’t see us sadly beating anyone with the current malaise – lack of team spirit, defensive frailty etc. Rondon will have a field day against us. 0-2.’
‘Can we get to half time without conceding two goals, I doubt it.
Watch out for a big score for Newcastle.’
‘We’ve done well up there of late, if I remember correctly but I can’t see us winning. Rafa has them playing well at the moment. Heart says draw, head says loss, 2-1.’
‘Our lot couldn’t beat a carpet. We don’t win away, we are guaranteed to concede goals. 2-0 Newcastle.’
‘100m on largely unmotivated tw.ts who were wrong for our needs and club thinks it’s fair to charge fans 55 quid for standard seats to watch this rabble.’
‘It will either be a Mitro hatrick sort of day or a Mitro red card sort of day.’
‘Yeah well I’m tipping us to lose , in fact I can’t see us winning any game, roll on the Championship.’
‘Anybody making the trip up Saturday? St James is one of the few grounds I have never been to so made a conscious effort to change that this year 🙂
Where do people tend to drink before hand? i know the ground is pretty central so must be spoilt for choice i guess.’
‘I’ve been to the Crown Posada in Side Street before and after a game friendly people no problems and good beer.
One of the oldest pubs in Newcastle needs to be seen even if you just pop in for one beer, lots of other pubs in that area and along the waterfront, plenty of places for lunch there as well.
I would avoid the pubs near the ground and near the big shopping area.’
‘Went to Newcastle last time we played and drank in Wetherspoons in the shopping centre on the way to the ground. There was no designated away pub and I found their fans very friendly.’
‘Just head for “Bigg Market” , you will be spoilt for choice, and a 10 minute walk to the ground.’
‘Been there a few times, the Union Rooms is a decent boozer, near the station and on the way to the ground. Never had any problems with the locals, they’re a friendly bunch and it’s moved on a lot since the 80s when things could get a bit tasty…’
‘The Forth Hotel and the Town Hall pubs near Central station are excellent.
Me and some mates ended up in a pub called Rosies next to Chinatown back in 2012 when we had a sunday match, and we ended up having a lock-in until 2am with the bar staff. Brilliant pub!’
‘We know our situation is dire, and we know that we will probably get relegated, but not yet!
For now, we are in the prem and we play Newcastle Saturday away. Is it beyond us to go there and get a result? We did that last season, and remember Sess, he should have taken that penalty for his hat-trick.
The return of Sessegnon will be a positive going into this game and Mitrovic might feel re-ignited going back to Newcastle.
This is Big Mitro’s chance to stick one on Benitez, this game might wake him up. To tell you the truth, i hate shooting arrows all the time and i am sure some do too? I think Tom Cairney played well against WHU, and he moved well. Okay we didn’t penetrate and get goals but maybe up at Newcastle, we will. Tom is a nice lad, and okay he has a lovely barnet, (not my style) in no way is he arrogant.
Our back 4 is not the best, but there are plenty teams in prem that don’t have the best defence. If we can only score that first goal and i am sure that it will settle the nerves. I just think we are nervous and a bit jittery. This is the worst run of losing games ever.
We have got to break this losing run sometime, and why not Saturday up at Newcastle away? Bring back Sess, come on Cairney with his fancy haircut, keep doing what you do, (he might be reading this) Mitrovic big guy’ give us goals. BRING OUT THE GUNS!!!!! COME ON YE FULHAM!!!!!!’
‘SJ did an interview in The Times saying he had no involvement in the selection of players apart from Mitro.
Alan Shearer on MOTD said the problem with our team is all down to recruitment. From day one Tony Kahn has been the instigator of all what’s gone wrong at Fulham. SJ was a brilliant manager but his hands were tied. I just cannot see CR rescuing it.’
‘Not sure if our players tune in to this site, but on the off chance that they do would just Iike to say ” honestly guys we do love you all but maybe you could try a little bit harder just to show us you care” because it’s a B—–y long way to Newcastle and those who make the effort should at least be rewarded by you all giving it your best shot, otherwise the journey back will seem twice as long !!’
‘Schurrle and Seri can do one. Seen more effort in a graveyard! What a couple of mercenaries! Kamara divides opinion, but at least he is prepared to put a shift in unlike these two prima donners!’
‘I can’t see how we can get points from Newcastle away, Arsenal away and Wolves at home. We might able to get a draw against HTFC. At which point, we could be 7-8 points from safety.’
‘Southampton have sealed our fate for this season, so the last rites can now be read. Cardiff and Huddersfield will accompany us on the journey down. Burnley, Newcastle and Palace have too much know how, so the bottom three a certain.’
