Everton 1 Newcastle 1 – Match ratings of all NUFC players
Everton 1 Newcastle 1 – Wednesday 5 December 7.45pm
We asked Joe Dixon to give us his match ratings after Wednesday night’s match.
Newcastle bouncing back with a battling performance and 1-1 draw against Everton.
Rafa’s team now 14th, four points above the relegation zone.
Dubravka 8 – It was seven for an excellent all round display and then an extra point when making a brilliant point blank save.
Yedlin 6 – A typical spirited performance but occasionally caught out of position and not great in defence.
Fernandez 8 – Another very good game, looked very comfortable. Made a superb block shortly before half-time.
Schar 6 – Did alright, especially when the scousers put the pressure on in the first half.
Lascelles 6 – A bit like Schar, did quite well but Everton still had chances first half.
Manquillo 7 – A big improvement compared to Saturday.
Carried the ball forward well at times, as well as doing alright with defensive commitments.
Ki 7 – Tried his best to keep the team together and the team ticking over but with Everton’s better quality he was forced back most of the time.
Decent free-kick delivery helped NUFC put some pressure on at other end.
Diame 6 – Did OK but game passed him by a bit.
With levels of spending, the NUFC midfield were always up against it when facing Everton.
Murphy 6: Did ok and put in a killer left foot cross for Newcastle’s goals.
Atsu 7: A player who must really annoy a manger.
Usually half-hearted, he instead showed all game commitment in pressurising the opposition and could have won it late on, with only Pickford to beat.
Rondon 7 -Took his goal well and had minimal support most of the game.
Hopefully that goal will have taken his confidence back up to the levels against Bournemouth.
Subs:
Joselu 5 – Had a minimal contribution and very much a case of weakening the team when introduced.
Perez 5 – Same again, a case of the squad being so poor that a substitution actually seriously weakens the team in most cases.
