Dennis Wise has now repeated what he said 12 weeks ago about Mike Ashley selling Newcastle United
I thought it was a while since we had heard from Dennis Wise…
I make it the last time he appeared in the media to back up Mike Ashley was at the start of October.
That was after it was first claimed Peter Kenyon was putting together a consortium to buy Newcastle United.
On 1 October, Dennis Wise appeared on Sky Sports (see below) to peddle the laughable line that if Mike Ashley did get a realistic offer, he would ‘do the correct thing’ and sell NUFC, but only sell it to someone who would ‘take that football club forward.’
Added to that, Dennis Wise had his usual go at the Newcastle fans on behalf of Mike Ashley ‘He’s trying his best but unfortunately in Newcastle fans’ eyes, his best is never good enough.’
Quite hilarious that after all this time, the media still give the likes of Wise the airtime and that they aren’t then challenged on these claims that Ashley would only do something if for the good of Newcastle United.
Today (Wednesday), Dennis Wise was on Talksport and revealed that recently he had met up with Mike Ashley but claimed Newcastle United wasn’t discussed. I’ll leave it up to you as to whether that is believable.
Once again, Wise did his bit though for his mate, yet again claiming that Mike Ashley would only sell NUFC to ‘the right person.’
After everything that he has done to harm the club and annoy the Newcastle fans, the idea that he would be bothered about either is complete fantasy.
If he is genuine about selling NUFC, then he would take anybody’s money and not care if it was somebody who would treat the club as badly as he has done.
Dennis Wise speaking to Talksport today (19 December 2018):
“I think Mike Ashley will sell it (Newcastle United) if it’s the right person.
“I don’t think he will give it to somebody who will strip the club.
“He will only hand it over to someone who is obviously going to take it in another direction and pile some money in, make it happen for Newcastle.”
Dennis Wise speaking to Sky Sports – 1 October 2018:
“If someone comes up with the right amount of money and he’s willing to obviously take it forward on terms that he is happy with, I am sure Mike Ashley will do the correct thing.
“What he is not going to do is allow somebody not to take that football club forward and he takes the blame for it.
“That is what his mindset really is.
“He’s trying his best but unfortunately in Newcastle fans’ eyes, his best is never good enough.
“And it never will be good enough…”
“But I’m sure in the long-term he (Mike Ashley) will try to do the right thing.”
