The Newcastle team v West Ham has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez looking to get his fourth victory in a row.

A win today at St James Park would make it three straight home victories, as well as five games unbeaten home and away.

Just the one change…

The manager seemingly reverting to a back four and preferring Manquillo to Monday’s captain Ciaran Clark.

Clark drops to the bench and is joined by Shelvey and Lascelles.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with:

Dubravka, Yedlin, Schar, Fernandez, Manquillo, Kenedy, Ritchie, Ki, Diame, Perez, Rondon

The subs:

Woodman, Clark, Lascelles, Shelvey, Longstaff, Atsu, Joselu

Compare Rafa’s selection to the preferred fan option HERE

  • Chris-Chapple

Makes a lot of sense dropping a goal scorer for a 2nd rate player like Manquillo.
is the £9m striker unfit or is it that Joselu has worked hard in training.

    • Ram Kishore

Are you the manager of Newcastle united Fc?
      I am preplexed as anyone.
Last week I expected Manq to start are LB but Rafa stuck with back 3 and Ritchie as LWB. Clark didn’t play LB. Burnley did struggle.

This week he has reverted to back 4.
      Maybe he’s got a reason .
Manq was a decent when he played at LB against Manchester united.

At the end of match if we don’t win, criticise Rafa. Until then enjoy the match and get behind the team.
      Stop moaning like Leazes.
This is the team, whether the player is good or not, doesn’t matter. Back the team Chris

      • Chris-Chapple

just pointing out a fact, would you have replaced Clark

        • Ram Kishore

Clark is not a good LB, imo if I am playing back 4 I wouldn’t pick Clark.
Nottingham forest match was a proof as to why Clark is not even close to backup left back.
That could also be the reason why Rafa didn’t play him at LB last match prefering him to play as a left center back.
So far in the first half Manq has been good enough for a makeshift LB.
Let’s hope we draw the match at least. Cheers Chris. Enjoy the second half

    • robbersdog

It never ceases to amaze me that there are still Newcastle supporters on here who sneer at Rafa Benitez.

Right now, he’s the only thing standing between us and oblivion, he’s doing a brilliant job, we’re lucky to have him and you should trust in his team selections.

      • Chris-Chapple

so it is logical to drop a player who had a good game and scored the winning goal for Manquillo.

        • steve

If you’re plying a completely different system then yes.

          • Chris-Chapple

not working is it goal from Newcastle left,

      • Steven05

        👌🏼

    • Damon Horner

Muto is injured, probably why he isn’t on the bench.

      • Chris-Chapple

according to some reports he was training this week

    • Magpie1974

This is a good team selection. Expect an attacking performance. Hard on Clarke being left out but we don’t want to start 3 centre backs at home against a team we should expect to beat.

      • Chris-Chapple

Clark has played left back numerous times, Manquillo is a right back, go figure

  • Scoutingfromtherooftops

Jeff Stelling just said SJP looks full and those protesting must not have set their watches. Whoops…

    • Chris-Chapple

      never going to happen.

  • nufcslf

Well done the sheep on the protest. And they score on 11 minutes. Serves you f**king right.

  • Chris-Chapple

goal conceded down our left the defence was asleep, so much for not having lacelles in the side and Manquillo not made a tackle yet

    • mentalman

You can’t blame manquillo for the goal kenedy could have done more to stop the cross and yedlin just stood and watched hernandez run in and score

      • Chris-Chapple

rubbish Manquillo was yards off Snodgrass and where were the centre backs

        • mentalman

He was yards off because kenedy was on him It went over the centre backs and yedlin should have been picking up the runner

          • Chris-Chapple

they just nearly scored again the left back nowhere to be seen

          • mentalman

They didn’t even have a shot so how did they nearly score

  • mentalman

2 new full backs needed in january

    • Chris-Chapple

      and the rest

    • MadMag83

And there are those who think Dummet is bad.

      • Kneebotherm8

Dummett is the only left back at the club…..that’s the problem.

  • Kneebotherm8

    Diame is having a stinker.

    • MadMag83

Hasn’t had a decent game in a while. Get Jonjo on

  • Chris-Chapple

Perez missed from 4 yards, lost the ball every time he has had it

  • Kneebotherm8

    Perez misses a sitter..

    • Chris-Chapple

      beat you to it
      😁

      • Kneebotherm8

        We’re all agreed then…

        • Chris-Chapple

          that would be yes

  • nufcslf

Perez should f**k off with Cashley. Two simple chances and neither of them finished when a goal behind at home. Not good enough.

  • Coach Clagnut

Perez…if he’s not falling down he’s blowing chances.

    • Chris-Chapple

not fit to wear the shirt

      • Coach Clagnut

        too precious by half

      • Kneebotherm8

        Don’t mention that to Mugpie.

  • DC1964

West Ham dangerous on the counter!

    • Kneebotherm8

      Very dangerous…

  • Chris-Chapple

Perez has now fluffed three chances, he makes Joselu look like Kane

    • Kneebotherm8

We need a new number 10…

      • Chris-Chapple

have done for about 4 years

        • Kneebotherm8

Yup he’s proving it big style today..

          • Chris-Chapple

to be honest i would sub him

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Have said as much myself but have been shot down for suggesting he is not good enough.

    • nufcslf

Both shyt and not prem player’s by a country mile. We are stuck with both. Now Atsu for Richie. F**k me comes to mind. Another home loss now.

  • Dave Mitchison

    Perez is 🐕💩

  • Chris-Chapple

replace Perez and Diame we may have a chance

    • nufcslf

Both weak links and being 1 down wouldn’t hurt at all.

  • mentalman

I wonder how much the commentators have been paid to keep mentioning how full the stadium is

    • nufcslf

      Very true.

  • Coach Clagnut

Too many unforced errors, poor passing and clumsy control. Almost makes you think they thought they just needed to turn up today to get the points

    • nufcslf

Been bloody awful in the first half and with similar performances in the first 5 home losses, never recovered. Hope the half time talk is up to snuff.

  • nufcslf

Yellow card happy ref. Someone going to end up with 10 men here.

    • Kneebotherm8

      Zabaleta booked now…

    • mentalman

If i were rafa I’d be telling Kenedy to constantly run at zabaleta now he is booked

  • Kneebotherm8

    Another Perez chance….

    • mentalman

He’s doing well to create his chances

      • Chris-Chapple

        you taking the urine

        • mentalman

He’s made good chances for himself and then fluffed it

          • Chris-Chapple

in other words he is useless

          • mentalman

His finishing has been he needs to look up and see if there’s a pass on

          • Chris-Chapple

after four years the guy is a lost cause

          • nufcslf

He quite often plays like he has passed on…….

          • nufcslf

And this isn’t the first game and is not a blip. Happens far too often. Shame, because he has the skill but just never has the cutting edge needed for the prem. Would not get the same playing time in any other side.

          • mentalman

Rafa’s unwillingness to try something different means he’ll always get a game

    • Chris-Chapple

      sloppy in all areas

  • Kneebotherm8

    Good Rondon chance..

    • Chris-Chapple

lost my signal last 5 minutes

      • Coach Clagnut

        missed nowt

        • Chris-Chapple

guessed as much, terrible first half

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

    Ayoze Perez, Why ?
Every game he costs us and had enough chances there to grab a hat-trick but is not good enough to execute any of them !

    • Chris-Chapple

hate to say it but the only other striker we have is Joselu

  • Chris-Chapple

    bring on lascelles and Shelvey.

  • Natturner26

We are looking a settled side with this team. The big worry is that there aren’t many goals in the squad. Perez is making Rafa’s refusal to play Sorensen look idiotic. It’s baffling that the majority of the fans seem to agree with the Sorensen decision just like they agreed with Rafa’s infamous selling of Mitrovic. Sorensen needs to play at least until Rafa tries to sign a goalscoring partner for Rondon in January.

    • mentalman

I wouldn’t play Sorensen all he will learn is how to not score

    • nufcslf

It certainly couldn’t hurt. West Ham know Perez isn’t going to score.

  • Mrkgw

Irrespective of todays result, meddling with a winning team is baffling unless injuries are a factor. The defence looked solid vs Burnley and so, why change it? Manquillo should be nowhere near the starting line up.

    • nufcslf

I agree, especially with a winning side and such a poor home record. This could end up being 2 wins out of 8. Should have played exactly the same side and formation ss against Burnley. Even a draw will be a bad result.

    • Chris-Chapple

i said that an hour ago and got slaughtered

      • Mrkgw

Sadly, if you buck the trend on here at the moment there is a portion that attempt to aim grief. Ignore them, everyone is entitled to a view.

        • Mike Adam

          Well said mate!!!

          • Superdooperhooper

I thought you were a Fulham fan now. What happened there then ?

          • Mike Adam

Support both sides. Just stay off here for the exact reason Mrkgw stated above.

      • Ram Kishore

I wasn’t slaughtering you Chris.. I was just saying if you change it to back 4, Manq is better than Clark at Fullback
I remember Clark being very poor at lb against Forest.
Clark is best as a CB especially with 3 at the back.

    • steve

Because he would also get slaughtered for playing 5 at the back at home, we’ve gone back to the same team which won our previous home game obviously minus Dummett.

    • Mike Adam

Shhh!, you are speaking ill of Rafa.

    • Mike Adam

I bet West Ham were shaking in their boots when Rafa brought on Horselu. Also, it is great to see that Rondon can do everything that the Serb player we used to have could not do!

      • Ram Kishore

U r again bringing back Mitro Mike. Just saying, it’s time to move on. We have all criticised and questioned Rafa on it. How long do you think we can keep bringing on this.
This place is unfriendly at times(maybe a lot). But there is actually no point in stirring the pot.
        Just being honest.😀

        • Mike Adam

Should be fun when NUFC and Fulham play at the end pof the month.

          • Ram Kishore

Haha.. definitely. Anything can happen. The Mag is gonna be a crazy place to see.😂

  • mentalman

    Atsu coming on

  • Kneebotherm8

    Atsu coming on?

    • mentalman

      It’ll be ritchie coming off

      • Kneebotherm8

        That’ll be right…..and it is as i watch……..strange decision….

    • Coach Clagnut

Let’s hope he doesn’t stink the place out….again.

      • Natturner26

He is stinking it out. Why does Rafa keep playing him? So stubborn.

    • Peaky

      Man doon then…

      • Chris-Chapple

3 Perez and Diame not turned up

        • Peaky

          Aye…you’re right.

          • Chris-Chapple

            you were right about anderson

    • nufcslf

Is Rafa trying to take the crowd out of it. Don’t understand that sub at all.

    • Mrkgw

Desperate. Another absolutely not good enough.

  • Chris-Chapple

Ritchie will be gone next month

    • mentalman

And we’ll be left with atsu

      • Chris-Chapple

        yes

    • nufcslf

I know my transfer request would be being handed to Rafa the second I got off the pitch. Better get Joselu on, so we can play with 6 men.

    • Dave Mitchison

Can’t really blame him can you

    • mentalman

Murphy will be in the queue behind him

      • Chris-Chapple

where is he, playing cards with Mutu

  • Dave Mitchison

    Wtf? Ritchie, why?

  • DC1964

So many missed chances in one game!

  • Kneebotherm8

    Chicarito sitter……

    • Chris-Chapple

      did a Perez

  • mentalman

    Joke of a substitution

  • Coach Clagnut

We couldn’t complain if we’d been 4 down by now.

    • Chris-Chapple

our attack is bad enough but the midfield and defence are nowhere

  • Chris-Chapple

I would take a draw now

    • mentalman

I think rafa is content with the score and will take off a couple to rest them

      • Chris-Chapple

        just gone 2 down

  • Chris-Chapple

2 nil left Manquillo and Schar for dead

    • Mrkgw

Shambolic. Our Manager and Team at their best again. Utterly dreadful.

      • Chris-Chapple

defence is wide open, Lascelles and Dummett are a big miss

        • Mrkgw

Sadly, you are right. Rafa made two key blunders today – Manquillo and Atsu. Indefensible.

  • mentalman

    Has atsu touched the ball

    • Mrkgw

      His inclusion is criminal.

      • MadMag83

Hasn’t had a decent game since the Championship

        • mentalman

He didn’t have many then either

          • MadMag83

True 😂 That’s the problem with shopping in the bargain bin!

  • nufcslf

Just as well there is no need for action against fatty, all is back to normal.

  • mentalman

What does perez have to do to get taken off

    • Chris-Chapple

      break a leg

      • mentalman

Rafa would throw on a set of crutches for him

    • Peaky

      Run out of Brylcreem….

      • mentalman

Perhaps if he did run out of brylcreem he’d be able to head a ball

      • Chris-Chapple

        😁

      • Coach Clagnut

Thought it was mortar or wet cement.

  • Chris-Chapple

    alarm bells are ringing again

    • nufcslf

The previuos 3 wins were a f**king stuggle. But that gets forgotten as soon as the final whistle goes. This has been total sh*t today from none Cashley action to team selection and performance.

  • Coach Clagnut

Wet Spam have better overall quality. They’ve missed sitters today but still managed to score twice.

    • DC1964

Got behind our defence far too easily!

      • Kneebotherm8

It’s patently obvious why Rafa plays on the defensive, normally, with this squad.

  • MadMag83

Team who made a transfer surplus who’s record signing was Michael Owen, getting beaten by a team who spent £100m, who’s record signing was £34m. Why is anyone surprised?

    • Kneebotherm8

Much more quality than us………that’s what £100 m gets ya……

    • Natturner26

Keep crying about Ashley. But we looked the better side first half. If we had Mitrovic or Sorensen playing up top we’d have been winning at halftime. Typical terrible Rafa subs led to a typical terrible second half display. We can only play well first half this season why is that? Mike Ashley?

      • nufcslf

Maybe the first 10 mins, but never looked like winning this after going a goal behind. Which match you been watching?.

      • glassjawsh-got-banned

        go [email protected]#K yourself

      • MadMag83

I think you need to go back to playing FIFA mate. Love how you think Mitrovic and Sorensen would have won the game! Mitrovic is scoring goals in a Fulham side containing some quality players. Newcastle don’t have that quality. Sorenson has yet to play a senior game. Rafa’s subs were terrible because there’s no quality on the bench, and who’s fault is that? Get real.

        • Mike Adam

Really, his two finishes last week were because of the other players?

          • MadMag83

Jesus wept, some low IQs on here. Did I say they’d scored the goals for him? He’s playing alongside better players, it breeds confidence and raises your game.

          • Mike Adam

Point is, his finishes were the quality mate, not the players around him.

          • MadMag83

Scoring goals helps confidence, and confidence is important to a striker. Look at the difference between Papiss Cisse when he first joined, to the subsequent years. I like Mitrovic, he’s obviously got talent but too many reckless moments clearly caused Benitez to lose patience with him. Perhaps Benitez could have managed him better and got the best out of him? We’ll never know. But we sold him for £25m and now have a loan signing from a Championship club, a £9m striker in his first season of English football, and Joselu, a £5m signing from Stoke who wouldn’t get in the Sunderland team.

Of course Rafa isn’t beyond reproach and he deserves some criticism, but give the guy some serious backing and we wouldn’t be fighting relegation.

          • Mike Adam

            Fair enough mate

        • Natturner26

Mitrovic was getting poor service this season until Ranieri took over last week and said we have one of the best strikers in Europe let’s feed him crosses. In went two goals, and he is up to 13 goals this season for club and country. Ranieri knows what he is talking about. Brilliant manager. Rafa didn’t rate Mitro.

        • Natturner26

I also am genuinely curious why Rafa’s supporters think we look decent every game in the first half and then stink it up every game in the second half. I genuinely can’t understand how you lot can blame the owner for that.

  • Chris-Chapple

    Joaelu is on

    • mentalman

      We are saved

      • Chris-Chapple

we need Lascelles & Dummett back in the team as well as Shelvey

        • mentalman

          Who so you drop though

          • Chris-Chapple

            Diame and Schar

          • mentalman

Diame will never be dropped and we need schar in defense for his passing. I’d go to a back 3

          • Ashley-out

This game has found out Schar

          • mentalman

The same can be said about fernandez

    • Kneebotherm8

If he gets a chance he canna do any worse than Perez….

      • Chris-Chapple

        bet he tries though 😁

        • Kneebotherm8

          Perez is very trying…

    • Coach Clagnut

      ….his rags?

  • Mrkgw

Joselu on. Staggering. Does Rafa want to lose his job here?

    • Chris-Chapple

      there is no other option

      • mentalman

There are rafa wont use them

  • Coach Clagnut

Big Andy for the last 10 mins? I reckon he’d more than fancy his chances to notch a couple.

    • Chris-Chapple

that would be all we need

    • Kneebotherm8

      Wilshere..

  • Kenny

Have i missed much, i`ve been asleep

    • Coach Clagnut

Should have stayed log sawing. It’s been/is depressing.

    • nufcslf

      Not a bloody thing

    • Peaky

      Won 8-0….Hoss got 5….

      • Kneebotherm8

        😂😂

      • Kenny

        😂😂😂😂

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

we’re sh!t, Ashley is Sh!t, soccer is sh!t. So sick of watching our side “work really hard” only to look completely outclassed.

  • Tweed Mag

It will be interesting to see who defends Perez after this display.
Apart from that, the performance highlights the valid points made by those who want a new owner. No investment means constant struggle and disappointment. Well done to those who stayed out for the 11 minutes, for those who did not – why?

    • Kneebotherm8

      Moscow Mugpie will…

      • Tweed Mag

Can’t wait for his match report from the lift

  • Ashley-out

wonder what Ashleys trolls will have to say after this

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      they’ll blame this on Rafa

      • Ashley-out

and give Perez man of the match

      • Coach Clagnut

be the fans again….the dozens who protested for 11 minutes shook the confidence of the players down to their marrow.

        • Ashley-out

be another full house for the Wolves game

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

depressing isn’t it? the amount of morons who can’t see the forest for the trees

  • Andy Mac

Instant Karma for all those who couldn’t be arsed to wait 11 minutes 🙄

  • ScreamStevie

Can’t score at home against a team that’s kept only one clean sheet this season. Rondon might be better than anything else we’ve got but it doesn’t make him more than average. Perez worked hard getting into good positions but his finishing has been woeful.

    • Ashley-out

Perez problem is he is useless in front of goal

    • mentalman

From whst i can remember most of his goals have been tap ins and yet he constantly tries to shoot from distance

      • ScreamStevie

Clearly you haven’t got a very good memory then…

        • mentalman

He scored 1 last season which was more than 10yds from the goal

    • Tweed Mag

He is not good enough and has had every opportunity to improve. Time for someone new.

  • Kenny

West Ham far the better team, Newcastle truly appalling.
Boycott Wolves or live to regret it

    • Tweed Mag

      Exactly. BBC calling Newcastle ‘shambolic’.

  • Kenny

    3-0 sums it up
    Boycott Wolves

    • nufcslf

Has to happen, but won’t. The future of ”Newcastle United’ is really in the sh*t.

      • Kenny

        Wishful thinking on my behalf

        • nufcslf

Just shows the mentality of the sheep that continue to go. Don’t understand how/why they can’t see the long term damage of just staying away for one sodden match. Boycott Wolves.

    • Tino o

It will be a full house guaranteed

  • Coach Clagnut

    Killed off by a nutmeg.

  • Tino o

    Pathetic

  • Kneebotherm8

Felipe Anderson?…..he looks good…….how much did he cost?…..

    • Tino o

More than we could dream of £42 million

      • Kneebotherm8

        Ya right there…..

      • Ram Kishore

£34 million pound to be exact.
        😀

        • Tino o

It’s £42 million with add ons

          • Ram Kishore

Sorry my mistake. I checked Transfermkt earlier they have quoted 34m. Just checked in BBC now 36m rising to 41.5m pound because of add ons
            Thanks for clarifying.

          • Tino o

            No problem

  • Tino o

Bang back down to earth !

Dreadful defending. Manquillo incapable of even a basic tackle.

    • Kneebotherm8

He’s not a left back………he should have been left back at wherever we signed him from…

      • Kenny

        Exactly

  • mentalman

Why with 1 minute of injury time and 2-0 down is one of our full backs so far up the pitch

  • HarryHype59

WHU spent £100m in the last window, whilst Fatty made a £20m profit! That damning statistic sums up the main problem in my opinion.

    • DC1964

      Absolutely spot on!

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      not opinion. FACT.

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Perez should have put away a couple of chances in the first half but unfortunately the only striking thing about him is his 1930’s gangster cut !
This is what happens when you have an under funded club with inferior players trying to plug the gaps.

    • Kneebotherm8

Exactly…..this is what underinvestment in a low quality squad gets you….

    • nufcslf

      Yip.

    • Tino o

Perez should and should have done a lot of things one of them is fuukc off

  • Coach Clagnut

Which player’s turn was it to use the brain today? It wasn’t obvious to me who had it.

    • Tino o

I don’t think it made the squad

  • Tino o

We were lucky to get nil with the dross we have upfront rondon lies down alot perez more concerned about his hair.

    • nufcslf

      Should have been minus.

      • Tino o

Could have played thru the night and still not scored.where are we going to get the 20 or so points needed does it matter?

        • nufcslf

The rest of the month has a lot of tough matches and points could very well be far a few between. I think if we do end up back in the bottom 3 again before the turn of the new year, no matter if the fat c**t does spend in January we are down.

    • X,WHY,Y MAN.

Too true !, All he needs to do is grow a pencil moustache and get himself a violin case because him and some of the players in our squad are “The Untouchables” !

  • Chris-Chapple

    outclassed

  • Coach Clagnut

Phone many more performances like that one in and we’re down.

  • Mirandinha9

In this month of festivity goodwill, this home defeat is a gift for the 50,000 sheep who didn’t walk in on the 11th minute, symbolising their utter compliance with Cashley’s regime. 11 years of mediocrity – the sheep are quite prepared to accept another 50 years of this dross. Once Cashley is too old for it, he’ll simply hand it into someone else in the family and his entrenchment in the club will continue as he faces no opposition from ‘fans’ who are never prepared to challenge him. He wins every time against them.

  • Guest

Why was noel voted off last night?
Ageist and benefits of you ask me

    This is what matters

    • Tino o

      Because he’s a perv

  • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Just another 28 points needed still ….

  • Paul Patterson

I would say we were doing well until the 11th minute. And no I’m not a troll..

    • Wezza

We know but the trolls will try and spin this now. Bed to block them.
Need to boycott more than ever now. It’s either that or take this dross and line the pockets of the FCB.
      Don’t complain about it.

    • nufcslf

Never looked like getting anything other than yet another home loss after going a goal behind all the same. Sad that it wasn’t just the same side that beat Burnley and got anothet 3 points on the board. See another landslide of results coming with no recovery from a 3rd relegation.

    • Leazes.

      How do you know?

  • Tino o

After watching this I think we should boycott all matches make my Saturdays alot less depressing

  • Wezza

So did the 11th min walkin not work well? The PR machine will be in overdrive this week:
    “WE must stick together”
    “Support the team”

Whatever the trolls say about the magpie group is irrelevant. It’s not over. You need to boycott more than ever now!!

    #BoycottWolves
    #BanTheTrollsAgain

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

This match has been a prime example of the difference between investing 100m in your side vs making a 20m profit. And that’s BEFORE
the massive TV revenue they are both earning is accounted for. It’s a
sad joke on the people and fans of newcastle. And the only one who is
laughing is newcsatle’s fat miserable greedy owner. From here on out I’m for anything that contributes to his removal, up to and including relegation to0 the 3rd tier. I’ve wasted too many years of my life (and too much time and money) trying to follow this side to put up with this trash any longer. Ashley OUT!!

    • Wezza

      Spot on.

  • East Durham Mag

    One word f*ck*d.

    • nufcslf

Only good thing is I don’t feel half as f**ked as the morons that pay money to watch such sh*t from top to bottom.

      • East Durham Mag

Glad i packed in going in 2014.

        • nufcslf

Should never of had to come to that. One c**t to take away something that should always be there to be enjoyed. I have got it in double with the ice hockey team here in Vacouver being equally as badly run and full of corporate wankers. Refuse to step foot in that shyt hole as well.

          • East Durham Mag

Too right mate, i can’t get my head around the the idea that some think everything is great. If Rafa doesn’t go at the end of the season he is mental or his family are being held [email protected]

  • Kenny

If there`s one thing that keeps the vermin trolls in their bins it`s a defeat.

    • MadMag83

Not quite. The Ashley brown nosers also double up as the Rafa out brigade when we lose.

  • Leicester Mag

Wonder where the sun shinesoutofAshleysarse brigade are after that omnishambles? Reality check we were battered by Watford and beat 2 other p1sspoor teams. But what the heck project 17 remains on track.

    • Kenny

We need the normal back 4 in place and Jonjo back in the team,
God only knows what to do about Perez & Slomo

      • Mrkgw

We did ok vs Burnley with Ki. Many have said it but I’d stick Shelvey into the number 10 role. He used to be more attacking minded when at Swansea and notched a few goals.

        • Kenny

they were schit, West spam have some quality players and it showed

    • Peaky

      “Project 17”…..like it…very good.

  • Wor Lass

It really is depressing. I was looking forward to this match but its back to square one now – or minus? At the end of the day, we all know (all except the odd brain-dead troll, anyway) who is to blame but there doesn`t seem to be the will for enough people to do anything meaningful about it. We haven`t had a decent goal scorer at the club since Loic Remy and we continue to pay the price.

    • Kenny

      and he was on loan.

  • Kenny

Going to a function at 7-30, dreading it as half of them there are season ticket holders
bet it`s a barrel of laughs

    • Leazes.

They switch off….its part of the matchday experience, the football will be a thing of the past.

      • Kenny

        I hope so.

        • Realist

Hopefully one of them punches the lips off you

  • Mrkgw

GlasgowMag – have you upset someone? Your posts keep disappearing!

    • Mike Adam

Must have been declared a troll by Jezza/Wezza and the crew.

      • Kenny

Are you holding Jezza hostage ?

        • Mike Adam

No, I live in Manchester. Just ask him.

          • Kenny

            He`s missing

          • Mike Adam

Just a guess on my part, but I think he is Wezza

          • Peaky

I thought that recently Mike but Wezza assured me he’s not Jezza…

          • Mike Adam

The Lee brothers must have him then somewhere in Manchester.

    • Mrkgw

Well, it was there and then pffft, gone….💨

      • Peaky

I tried to reply to him earlier but it wouldn’t let me ???

  • Leazes.

Was it just 14 days since Rondon was being lauded as the next Alan Shearer?

You can see the lack of quality.

    • Mrkgw

Yes, he is about as prolific as the Hoss.

    • Kenny

the lack of quality is all over the pitch, West Ham have some good players and on another day it could have been 5

      • Leazes.

Lack of quality on the ‘terraces’ too…. Its charver central…. no offence intended.

        • Kenny

A couple of my good pals have promised to boycott Wolves and they will have no choice as i`ll meet them in the pub to watch it. no escape

          • Leazes.

            Fingers crossed.

    • MadMag83

You’ve got it all wrong! It’s that Mr Benitez. Get him out and get Steve Bruce in and we’ll be playing O’le footie and challenging Citeh for the title.

      • Kenny

He`s daft enough to take the job when Rafa walks

        • MadMag83

Yeah and there’s fans daft enough to want him (see above)

          • nufcslf

Not daft, just honest. The team didn’t need changing from the one that started against and beat Burnley. Rafa got it totally wrong today and the result says so. Don’t now hate him and have never thought he was God neither. This was a winnable home match for a team that had won three on the trot and sadly looked like a side that has lost 6 of 8 home matches. Not good enough and everybody involved is to blame.

          • MadMag83

I wasn’t referring to you. With regards to change of personnel etc, I can only guess that it was because we were at home and media/fans have complained about us being too defensive at home, so he went with a more slightly more offensive approach. Is Jacob Murphy injured? £11m and we’ve seen so little of him. Results like this will happen, it’s hard for this squad to keep punching above their weight every week.

          • nufcslf

We can all just hope Cashley f**ks off and all of this crossed over blame between owner and manager dividing the fans can be forgotten. Surely a new owner would allow this to be about football again and not his/her own back pocket. Not a lot to ask, I don’t think. See what happens at Everton on Wednesday.

  • robbersdog

Our offensive options need to be completely revamped – two new centre forwards, a No.10 and two new wingers.

Oh, and we also need two new fullbacks and a defensive midfielder.

So, apart from the urgent need for eight quality signings, everything’s tickety-boo.

    • Kenny

we have needed that lot going on 4 years, if not longer but it`s not going to happen

      • nufcslf

Totally f**king sickening. Just glad I am numb to the fact now and weekends don’t get ruined.

    • MadMag83

Nah. Get Rafa ooot and get Brucey in! Top 4 here we come….

  • Kenny

Sothampton winning 2 nil. you couldn`t make it up

    • Damon Horner

We also led 2-0 against Man Utd. Now it’s 2-2. They’re as bad as we are.

      • nufcslf

Sitting watching the match and when Sotton were 2 up Peter Drury was rabbiting on about everything Mark Hughes won at manure as a player, but failed to mention what a f**king sh*t manager he has always been. One of many that should not have a job. Can only hope them, Huddersfield and one other are worse than us at the end of the season.

        • Damon Horner

His record at Southampton is just pitiful. Think we’re one of 6 team’s who could go down, there might be enough teams who do worse than us, who knows about next season.

          • nufcslf

He had Stoke second bottom when he was sacked there and somehow Sotton thought he would do. Scary and another club that does eberything to slap their fans in the face. Money has a lot to answer for with ruining sports.

  • 45709

I have a lot of respect for Rafa, but I still don’t understand why the youths aren’t going on. I mean what is there to lose? Apart from another game… the first team I wouldn’t even wish on Man U! Let alone Sunderland

    • JohnnyH

Sorenssen scored 17 goals this season for the U23s. I’d give him a try instead of Perez.

      • Damon Horner

Attacking players like that could be a real wildcard. Would be interesting to see what he does from the bench, on the flip side, Armstrong’s youth record was also tremendous.

      • 45709

        100% agree

    • Natturner26

Anyone would be better than Atsu this season. He keeps coming on though it is getting depressing.

      • nufcslf

Still baffled as to why any changes were made from a team that won away to Burnley. If it was a loss, then maybe. We shall see.

        • 45709

Yep, Rafa doesn’t have a lot to work with, but his refusal of young players is annoying

      • 45709

A fence post would be better than Atsu 😂

  • East Durham Mag

🐃🎸 No banjo on my emojis but it will suffice for our forwards.

    • Peaky

      I’ll tell what’ll also suffice…..💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

  • Tino o

Rondon,Joselu,Perez,Muto that’s what you call strength in attack . We’re stuffed!

    • nufcslf

And you sub one of your better options for getting crosses into any of the mentioned for Atsu. Can’t understand how it finished 3 nil to West Ham………..

      • MadMag83

Weren’t we already losing by then?

        • nufcslf

Still very early in the second half and a sub that didn’t make any sense or help change the game.

          • MadMag83

Must admit I don’t rate Atsu, so I didn’t agree with the decision to bring him on. Unfortunately it just highlights what little quality there is in the squad when that’s our option from the bench.

As others have said, I’m in favour of giving game time to the likes of Longstaff. Probably won’t win us the game but as we were poor anyway there was nothing to lose.

    • HarryHype59

That is what spending £18m on four forwards gets you.

  • HarryHype59

WHU spent £100m in the last window, whilst Fatty made a £20m profit! That damning statistic sums up the main problem in my opinion.

    • MadMag83

Precisely. Everything else is a matter of cause and effect.
