Amateur hour as late call sees Newcastle v Blackburn moved for Live TV but you won’t be able to see it…
Newcastle United have just made an official announcement that the Newcastle v Blackburn FA Cup third round match has now been moved.
This is despite the club having put out an announcement earlier today (see below) saying the game definitely wasn’t on live TV and so the date was as expected, Saturday 5 January with a 3pm kick-off.
All a bit amateur hour and lack of communication as now NUFC say the match kick-off is moved to 5.30pm for Live TV coverage.
However, you won’t be able to see the game, that is unless you live overseas.
The club apologising and saying the game has been chosen for ‘international broadcast’ to be shown live in other countries.
Newcastle United (second) official announcement (of the day):
’Newcastle United have been informed by the FA that our Emirates FA Cup Third Round game at home to Blackburn Rovers has been selected for international broadcast, and will now kick off at the later time of 5.30pm.
The tie – originally scheduled to kick off at 3pm on Saturday, 5th January – was not chosen for domestic broadcast by either the BBC or BT.
Tickets for the game are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Those prices will rise to £20 and £10 respectively on the day.
Newcastle United apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
The Mag – Earlier Today (Friday 7 December 2018:
Newcastle v Blackburn has been confirmed on its expected date.
The FA Cup third round tie will be played on Saturday 5 January and kick-off at 3pm.
It would have been very surprising if it had been moved for live TV, maybe possible if it had been Newcastle playing away at Blackburn.
The date was basically confirmed yesterday, when the six matches moved for live TV were confirmed.

Rovers last visited St. James’ Park during the Magpies’ title-winning Championship campaign, when – surprisingly – they won 1-0 thanks to Charlie Mulgrew’s second-half strike.
The two clubs have met 11 times in the FA Cup – including replays – with United winning six and losing just twice.
Their last meeting in the competition came during the 2011/12 campaign – also at the Third Round stage – with the Magpies running out 2-1 winners at St. James’ Park.’
