Altogether now: ‘Hallelujah John Tudor!’ at Anfield today
John Tudor was a big favourite of Newcastle fans in the early 70s.
Paired with Supermac, they were a cracking partnership up front.
One of their most famous matches was Supermac’s home debut in 1971, John Tudor playing a key role as Supermac scored a hat-trick (see above and below) and Newcastle beat Liverpool 3-2.
Sadly John isn’t in the best of health and Keith Morioka of ‘Toon Army Minnesota’ has been in touch asking Newcastle fans to take heed of a request from Jonathan Tudor.
John Tudor’s son having asked travelling NUFC fans to give his dad a special cheer on 10 minutes.
‘I’m friends with John Tudor’s son on Facebook and apparently his Dad’s memory isn’t doing so well these days, so he’s asked for a request during the Liverpool match.
Wondering if you guys could help spread the word? (See the message below)
I live in Minnesota where John and his son still live.
I run the Newcastle supporters group here, Toon Army Minnesota.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks guys and Merry Christmas!’

The Facebook message to Newcastle supporters from Jonathan Tudor, son of Supermac’s old striker partner, John Tudor:
‘My dad is struggling with Alzheimer’s and it has been linked to his many years of heading the ball.
We are working with the Astle foundation as many former players are going through this, but it is a very challenging road.
Many of my dad’s greatest memories were at St. James Park and he still has a great fondness for the Geordies.
Please could you help give him a massive memory with a rendition of his NUFC song “Hallelujah, John Tudor!” in the 10th minute at Anfield on Boxing Day.
I know it’s a lot to ask in these days of turmoil and takeovers, but please remember those ex-players that still have to work today and who rated passion higher than their pay packet.
Good luck to the Toon.’
