Sky Sports come up with defining stat to sum up Newcastle United so far
An interesting one from Sky Sports.
They have looked at every Premier League club and came up with a stat the defines each club over the course of these opening 12 matches of the season.
For Newcastle United, there are both positives and negatives to the stand out stat for the club in the season so far.
The one they have picked out, is the fact that no Premier League club have seen fewer goals in their matches than Newcastle fans have enjoyed.
Sky Sports sum the situation up perfectly: ‘Rafael Benitez continues to keep Newcastle’s heads above water in difficult circumstances but it has made for some dull viewing this season.’
No Newcastle fans could honestly say the football has been decent to watch this season, with odd exceptions, BUT at the same time supporters understand that with Mike Ashley demanding a £20m+ profit on summer transfer deals, it was never going to add up to an easy season for either Rafa Benitez or the fans.
Only 24 goals have been scored in Newcastle games so far, nine for NUFC and fifteen conceded.
The most ‘exciting’ PL club to watch so far are Fulham, their fans have seen 42 goals but only 11 of them have been in their favour.
Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd fans are the next best off in terms of seeing goals fly into the net, all three clubs involved in matches where 41 goals have been scored in total.
Interestingly, the cautious Jose Mourinho has seen his side concede 21 goals already in 12 games, one more than they have scored themselves.
Here below is the Sky Sports write-up and then details of how many goals fans of each Premier League club have seen so far.
