Salomon Rondon has been in action for Venezuela on Friday.
Hopefully helping him towards being 100% fit for Newcastle, the striker played 66 minutes for his country in Japan.
The home side took the lead in the 41st minute through Japanese defender Hiroki Sakai, with then Salomon Rondon replaced by Josef Martinez of Atlanta United on 66 minutes as part of a double change.
Torino’s Tomas Rincon supplied the equaliser for Venezuela with nine minutes remaining.
The Newcastle number nine now moves closer to home with the Venezuelan squad heading to Qatar. There they will play at a neutral stadium against Iran on Tuesday, before Rondon flies back to Newcastle.
Later on today, Paul Dummett could get a rare chance to play for Wales as they face Denmark at home, whilst Martin Dubravka’s Slovakia are home to Ukraine later on today.
