The Premier League form table tells its own story for both Newcastle United and Bournemouth.
The full Premier League table sees Bournemouth with 20 points, whilst Newcastle are 17th with six.
When it comes to the recent Premier League form table covering the last half dozen games, the two clubs have similar positions, Newcastle in 15th and today’s visitors in eighth.
Last weekend saw contrasting fortunes as Bournemouth ended up losing to Man Utd despite taking the lead, looking to build on a run of 10 points from a possible 12.
Whilst Newcastle looked sure to lose, only for Watford to miss chance after chance, Perez scoring the winner. Newcastle ending a run of only two points from their last six games, with only three from the opening ten matches.
Bournemouth had started their last six game run at Burnley and crashed 4-0. A bit of a strange one as the Cherries had 62% possession, 19 shots v 12, as well as 8 v 3 when it came to corners, Burnley giving an object lesson in finishing.
Newcastle scored with one of only two efforts on target against Watford and the week before had no shots at all on target at Southampton, so can they find some creativity in the absence of Shelvey?
Newcastle have four points from their last two matches and desperately need to put a run together, so a point or better today would keep that going.
After today’s game, the next six matches sees five of them against clubs who are in the bottom half of both the form table and the regular PL table, the exception being Everton away in December.
A period of the season where Newcastle surely have to pick up points if they are gong to be ok, this Bournemouth match possibly the toughest they face before Christmas.
