Rafa Benitez has been given a glowing reference by Pedro Campos.

Campos declaring ‘I would say that Rafa Benitez is a better person than a manager, and as a manager, he is one of the best in the world.’

He is one of the Newcastle Manager’s staff at St James Park but he is clearly a big fan.

Having worked with Rafa Benitez at the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool, he is one of the manager’s trusted lieutenants.

Pedro Campos has been scouting and watching other teams and players and compiling reports for Rafa Benitez for years, the Newcastle boss trusting is judgement.

Campos is clearly a friend as well as workmate, stating ‘Rafa Benitez is one of the people with the greatest human capacity I know. Everything for him starts with respect.’

We have seen any number of examples of what happens when Newcastle players have crossed a line and not given that respect, with certain individuals totally sidelined from the squad if they cross Rafa.

Pedro Campos is also a lifelong fan of Cordoba who finished 16th in the Spanish second tier last season and are currently third bottom of 22 this time.

He revealed that in the summer he put forward a list of Newcastle players who could potentially go on loan to help his childhood team but in the end it didn’t happen.

January is sure to see a number of younger players head out on loan but whether that will be to Spain/Cordoba is another matter.

Both Freddie Woodman and Sean Longstaff weren’t allowed to go on loan this summer but surely that will change in January, as they are promising players who desperately need games, games which they stand no chance of getting at the moment for Newcastle.

Pedro Campos speaking to ABC de Cordoba:

“Rafa Benitez is one of the people with the greatest human capacity I know.

“Everything for him starts with respect.

“I would say that Rafa Benitez is a better person than a manager and as a manager, he is one of the best in the world.”

“I have always said that I would like to finish my professional career in Córdoba.

“Although it will also depend in large part on what Rafa Benitez tells me, although I know he will always look out for the best for me.

“It (supporting Cordoba) is something that I have marked on the skin, something that I feel (strongly).

“I am a follower and sufferer, therefore wherever I am, I always try to be aware of what the team is doing and have as much information as possible, with permission from Newcastle of course.

“Whenever it has been in my hands, yes (I help Cordoba).

“In fact, I’m going to tell you something that few people know.

“This summer, when I saw the problems that Cordoba had with the signings, I sent a list of players for a possible loan from Newcastle but it did not happen.”
