Monday afternoon has seen British Transport Police reveal that Paul Gascoigne has been charged with ‘sexual assault by touching’ after an alleged incident three months ago.

The incident is claimed to have happened on 20 August 2018.

Paul Gascoigne said to have been on a train travelling from York to Durham.

BBC News report:

‘British Transport Police: Paul Gascoigne charged in connection with the sexual assault of a woman by touching on board a train from York to Durham on Aug 20th.

‘The 51-year-old will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on 11 December.’

Not the kind of news you want to hear and predictably social media has instantly been alive with many assuming Gazza is already guilty before the case has even been heard.

Like everybody else, Paul Gascoigne has to be presumed to be innocent until it is proved otherwise.

You always fear the worst when you see the latest headline news about the former Newcastle United player, though this latest worrying news is a departure from what has gone before.
