  • Mrkgw

Ki looks the real deal and has made a huge impact since coming into the team. His passing is controlled and he doesn’t make mistakes. Fernandez and Schar too, all very shrewd signings. Onwards and upwards!

  • Toonrobbybobson

Ki was quality tonight. So calm always knew what he was doing with the ball before he received it. Quality player as is Schar and Fernandez

  • Barmingmag

Please don’t pick Selvey over Ki. I know it might be a tough choice but come on …

    • nufcslf

Diame is the player that should be dropped. I think Ki could play the defensive role and would actually pass the ball to a black and white shirt. Diame was a bit better in the game today, but is shyt more often than not. Joselu should never get a kick of the ball and Perez for the playing time he get’s does f**k all. All of this is down to fatty for being such a stupid stngy c**t and never spending a penny. Shame he wasn’t the medical emergency that delayed the start of the match.

      • Duh

Bit bitter seeing though we won marra

        • nufcslf

Just want to see a Cashleyless run club, before getting carried away with any results that allow him to keep on taking the pysh. He will just use these type of results and run of form to not spend in January. It’s gone on for far too long to let this be as enjoyable as it should.

          • Duh

Yeah, winning is bitter sweet, you want to win but at the same time as you say, that helps Mikey

          • nufcslf

            Yes, sickening.

      • ScreamStevie

Perez individually created two great chances; one spurned by Joselu and another when Ritchie and Rondon got in each other’s way.

      • Ram Kishore

We will be outsmarted in the middle if we don’t have a physical presence. Both Shelvey and Ki won’t be able to do what they are good at if they go defensive.
We need a ball winning midfielder. We have Diame, anyone else to replace him? No
But we do need a better Diame with more clinical passing capability. We can do with a 3 man midfield though.

      • Ram Kishore

Perez created two excellent chances. One missed by Joselu and other by Rondon and Ritchie getting confused.
Overall Perez was better but had his fair share of sloppiness

      • Wor Lass

Diame has to be in the team – his workrate in the middle, closing down, tackling, getting little nicks was great last night. Noone else in our squad can do that.

  • Steviemagpie

Good result lads but…… IN spite of ashley not because of him

    • Toontaff

Whisper it quietly – don’t wake ’em!

  • 1957

One of the few times I have seen a full game since I ditched my ticket this year, but it seems the improvement in form is down to now having 2 CB who can defend but also pass a ball forwards and hit a target man (albeit a mainly stationary one in the second half), together with a midfield player in Ki who doesn’t just look for the glory ball every time. Crooks commented Mitrovic would be a better player if he lost a stone… Rondon too.

Some things don’t change, SloMo chased the ball around but lacks any real quality and the cow’s ar#e was definitely safe once the Hoss came on and took over the banjo.

    • Ram Kishore

Diame was ok. Without his Physical presence Ki wont be having a free role. Yes he lacks on few other areas.
      His passing ugh

  • Damon Horner

Diame gets too much stick in my view, don’t think the lad can win.

His total tackles are up there with the best numbers in the league, he doesnt shirk any tackles either and his pass success rate is one of the best in the team, which is frankly better for me if he goes safe more often than not considering how many around him have a better passing ability.

I think he is doing what we expect from a defensive midfielder.

    • JohnnyH

Agree, he had a good game doing the job he does

    • Wor Lass

Not just the tackles, Damon. How many times did he force them backwards with his pressing – he`s deceptively quick across the ground.

      • Damon Horner

Nice mix of work rate, aggression and good discipline. You’re right it is an underrated quality of his

Rafa was a genius last night in general for me, the positioning and pressing from Ritchie, Yedlin, Diame, Kenedy and Perez forced them back and to play long to two big men, we had 3 CB’s there ready for them.

  • JohnnyH

    Rondon needs a fitness coach
Kenedy needs a coach to help him become more productive
Perez needs a coach to take him away on loan

    • Kenny

Rondon may or may not do a job for us as he doesn`t look fit but in the long term he isn`t the answer, i wouldn`t buy him as for Perez he is now in his 5th season and for me he will never cut it in the Premiership,
Diame has 1 good game in 5 and along with Perez needs replacing but we all know the Fat Rat won`t fund the team so Nufc will plod on forever battling relegation.

      • Martin Rooney

He’s had 3 good games out of 3 with the change of partner, could that be the reason?

      • Billmag

Rondon looks more like a heavyweight boxer than a footballer.

    • Peaky

      😂😂

    • Toontaff

I’ve heard Garth Crooks has a diet that may work…………..

    • Toontaff

      …………..Garth, the Rotondone!

  • Kenny

It was a good win & we were well on top for most of the game but do not think we are out of trouble & that we have new stars
the new lads all played well but lets see how they fare against a good side because quite frankly the opposition in the last 3 matches has been krap.
the next 3 games are where we can pick up points but after Christmas we have a run of hard games.
we could do with 4 quality players in January Rafa will be lucky to get 1.
Newcastle won`t be relegated but we aren`t going anywhere either.

    • Billmag

You can perm any 3 teams in the bottom 10 that will be relegated and that includes us, it’s fair to say there isn’t a decent team in the bottom half of the Premier that’s for sure.

  • Paul Patterson

Whisper it carefully – Three wins since Shelvey went out of the side.

    • Peaky

Was thinking exactly the same myself Paul….a fact that can’t be ignored.

      • Toontaff

        And Lascalles! Sell ’em Mike!

        • Peaky

Wouldn’t put past it tbh….especially once Lejeune is back.

  • Toontaff

Supporting NUFC is really not good for your health! Hungover, sort of celebrating another win, but knowing things will never be right until FCB goes. I can still sort of remember what it felt like, supporting an actual football team.

  • Hughie

Really poor game. Don’t overestimate us, Burnley were pants. Rondon and Perez were dreadful- giving the ball away continuously which must frustrate the hell out of the rest of the team. Perez may be a decent 5aside player, with occasional flicks and touches, but 90% of the time he is a complete liability conceding or not fighting for possession and making poor decisions. He has been the weakest link in this team since he started playing regularly, don’t be fooled by his tap ins last season. Please get shot Rafa…..play Ki, Diame and Shelvey behind Rondon until we acquire a competent no.10.

    • Ken

Pérez spends too much time on the deck clutching his face, it was embarrassing yesterday.

      • Martin Rooney

Rafa should fine him for that, I remember Pardew doing that with Cabaye not long after he arrived after paly acting with Shaun Derry of QPR, embarrassment!

        • Wor Lass

He was caught but you`re right, it was embarrassing. It`s a shame because he does a lot of good work and then lets himsel]f down with the histrionics.

          • Ram Kishore

This season it’s been too much from Perez. Started at Nottingham forest as he was claiming a penalty , continuing until now.

        • Ken

Agree yes he should, problem is Perez is at it almost every game and refs are wise to him

    • Ram Kishore

U r right on about Perez being a lightweight in many cases. But he did create two excellent chances missed by Joselu and Rondon& Ritchie.
If both had been converted, we would have killed it.

    • Martin Rooney

Cracking pass to Hoss for his post shot and excellent movement on the first goal to drag defenders out and create space for the first goal, his job was done.
Problem for Perez is he has nobody to pass to with so few nufc players up the pitch with him and his partner. Our back 7 drag us back.

  • molend

According to the ratings, defence pretty good, midfield well, just about middling and attack poor. But we already knew that, didn’t we?

    • Kneebotherm8

If we had a team that were a bit more clinical in the final third then we would be a force…….there’ll be no investment though, unfortunately.

  • Martin Rooney

you’d almost think Mike and Rafa were in cahoots, making the team decent again before selling the previous prized assets of Lascelles and Shelvey.

    • Kneebotherm8

Lascelles and Shelvey haven’t been missed these last 3 games……….at all..

      • Martin Rooney

        Would you sell them?

        • Kneebotherm8

          Mike would….

  • Wor Lass

I thought Ki looked class last night. I`ve always thought he was an excellent footballer but I`m not getting carried away with it. Burnley were poor and our lads had lots of time on the ball. Ki is lightweight and, I suspect, a little windy when things get a bit tasty. That`s why we need SloMO in there to break up opposition moves, win the ball and give it to those who can play. The much-maligned Perez does more than his fair share of the closing down, pressing and winning the ball back but all a lot of people on here see are the embarrassing bits where he lies on the floor worrying about his hair. Schar impressed me last night so I might have to revise my opinion of him. Kenedy grafted his b*lls off (as did everyone, really) and Yedlin did some great work. I was disappointed with Rondon. He doesn`t look fit but surely he ought to be by now.

    • Martin Rooney

So composed, giving Rondon the benefit of doubt as he’s probably circumnavigated the world in the previous 11 days (to hardly play any football).
Hopefully Ki can get everyone to see it’s not about net spend or record transfer’s but about getting real quality into the team what ever the cost is, Each of our best players, Dubravka, Yedlin, Dummett Lejuene, Diame, Ki Perez Schar and Fernandez cost next to nowt (or nowt) only Ritchie was over £10m.

      • X2

Ashley’s stripped out every last penny for shameful Sports Direct so our players have to be cheap.

      • JohnnyH

The same squad playing under Steve Bruce next season will struggle.
They are not ‘real quality’ they are just able to punch above their weight because we have a world class manager.

    • mentalman

Some of schar’s passing last night was top drawer and he’s starting to look like a premier league defender

      • Ram Kishore

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves . It’s been only 3 matches but gotta enjoy yesterday’s win as much as possible. But West Ham, Everton, Wolves are teams with much more quality, are better teams.. testing ourselves and getting points on board against them could set a benchmark for Ki, Schar, Rondon

        • KennySamsung

Agree with Everton but West Ham and Wolves are there to be beaten and I would be disappointed if we didn’t get a draw/win against them.. ok I’m getting carried away haha

    • KennySamsung

Agree but I’m one who would never put Perez in my team, he’s lightweight and not quite sure what he adds to the side. I’de love to be able to say Perez had a great game but just can’t work him out.

    • London_Mag

Agreed Ki was Man of the Match in my opinion.

  • ScreamStevie

Sky Sports top 50 power rankings show our in form players as (in descending order):-

    Rondon
    Perez
    Fernandez
    Dubravka
    Schar
    Clark
    Ritchie

    • KennySamsung

I know nothing about football if Perez is up there.

  • Themoscow72

Perez got the same mark as Rondon complete rubbish he was brilliant and was best player apart from Ki.

    • JohnnyH

I thought he was utterly ineffective. His one decent contribution was putting Hoss through towards the end.

Monk be serious, If Perez was ‘brilliant’ he would have got on the score sheet

      • KennySamsung

Was he watching the same game as me? Perez was average at best hence the mark.
