The Newcastle team v Watford has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez looking to get his first victory of the season.

The manager making only the one change but it is a significant one.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with:

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett, Kenedy, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Muto, Rondon

and the Subs:

Darlow, Manquillo, Schar, Atsu, Ki, Perez, Joselu

  • Paul Patterson

    Hallelujah no Perez..

    • mentalman

He’ll get 30mins at the end

    • Dillon Tovak

He didn’t have to wait long though.

      • mentalman

Strange time to make a substitution

    • Paul Patterson

Well he came on and did a job. Kick up the arass methinks.

  • Leicester Mag

Arguably his first choice 11, let’s see. looking at the bench shows the lack of depth we have

    • Kenny

Lack of depth on the pitch as well

    • Polarboy

I’d have Leujune in over Lascelles at the minute, and possibly any time.

  • Peaky

Forget the line up…..most important question of the day…..what colour socks are they wearing ??? 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

    • mentalman

The dreaded white socks on show again

      • Peaky

Thanks bud….I’m out & about so not watching…definite loss coming now.

        • mentalman

I’ve been painting all day and stopped to watch the football, I’m thinking of going and watching the paint dry, it’ll be more interesting than this

  • Peaky

The excitement is starting to build in my house…yep….not long now til Oti on Strictly tonight…

    • Kenny

that is pathetic, watching that shyte

      • Peaky

The dancing yes but Oti definitely ‘watchable’….

        • Leazes.

          ❌ Wrong

          • Kenny

            who is oti ?

          • Leazes.

            Dunno I don’t watch it.

          • Kenny

Peaky will pop up with the answer

      • Leazes.

        ✅ Correct

  • Kenny

I knew Hayden wasn`t even in the squad as i walked past him in town at around
10 this morning, i just wish Slomo had been with him.
22/1 i got for Newcastle 3-1 i expect Leazes to say i should have got 220/1

  • Natturner26

I wonder how long Rafa could go winless before the fans put the pressure on him. Hopefully we get the three points today and I’ll stop wondering.

  • Coach Clagnut

2 x 6 feet plus defenders up for corners and we fail to clear the first defender. Twice.

    • mentalman

Kenedy should be taking corners, ritchie is pants at them and is one of our better finishers

All of our set pieces have been poor, why were dummett and yedlin so narrow at the free kick, put them out wide and it gives the defence something else to think about

      • Coach Clagnut

and when we fail to clear the first defender we’re caught out on the break. How they’re not 2 up by now is puzzling.

        • mentalman

Poor finishing although I can only remember dubravka making one save

  • Kenny

40% Newcastle. well, at least we are improving it`s usually 36 to 37%
must be all that hard work in training

  • nufcslf

Once again, this is like watching a match that you don’t actually support one of the teams. Awful and could be turned off and not bother looking for the final result.

  • mentalman

Everything about the way we are playing is just wrong

  • Coach Clagnut

At least we’ll be spared the sight of Atsu stinking the place out.

  • Kenny

3 injuries, oh dear it just keeps getting worse by the game.

    • mentalman

I think the injuries have helped, ki is getting us forward and managing to keep possession and schar is bringing the ball out of defence.

      • Kenny

I think Ki should have started, but Shelvey will be a major loss if the injury is bad

        • mentalman

Agree ki looks like the kind of midfielder we haven’t had for a long time

  • nufcslf

Still plenty of time to lose 2-1

    • Coach Clagnut

      That’s the spirit :-)

      • Kenny

        😂😂😂😂

  • Peaky

If this result stands there’ll be no holding MoscowMonk down tonight…

    • Kenny

King Rat is there again, big smile after the goal.

      • Peaky

        A smile or a fart in Penfold’s direction ??

        • Coach Clagnut

Well he’s got his shyt brown suit on to cover the runoff.

    • Wezza

Yes the troll will be rattling on about Perez and we need to stick together and not protest, It will just be the same old rubbish. Avoid relegation… then what?

      • Peaky

The dafttwat will have us now challenging for Europe….

  • nufcslf

The thought of the camers flashing past fatty clapping his hands at the end of this with a win has just ruined the idea of how important 3 points could be.

    • Wezza

No January spending then, mind you there wasn’t going to be anyway.

  • Wezza

    What is the point.
We avoid relegation, FCB pockets hundreds of millions TV money and we do the same next season.

    • nufcslf

Just takes away from the football every time doesn’t it.

      • Wezza

Takes away the gloss of a win yes.
        ASHLEY OUT!”

        • nufcslf

Sickening and he does need to f**k off before this will ever change for the better.

    • Carverlier football

Exactly why we need to keep up the pressure, however well we do or wherever we finish!

    • Natturner26

I for one enjoy it. Not at all jealous of the top 6 clubs.

  • mentalman

Its scary to think if we hadnt had those injuries we would probably have lost the game

  • Coach Clagnut

Anything short of murder on the pitch will see teams given a free hand at thuggery against our lot. Disgraceful officiating.

    • Wezza

Yeah Watford have been so dirty in this game. 3 injuries, bodies everywhere. Seen nothing like this!

    • nufcslf

The sad thing about it all, is that I would be tempted to start the 11 that finished this match as a reward for a first win.

  • Peaky

Monk has just streaked onto the pitch with his tiddler out….

    • Wezza

Nah he isn’t there, he is just a troll.

    • nufcslf

      I wondered who that was……

    • Scott Robinson

With Super Mike Ashley’s underpants over his heed …

      • Peaky

        Cruddy Slazenger y fronts……size XXXXL

  • Tweed Mag

Well, there you go. Three points and we are 17th. Ashley’s target all along.

    • t00nraider

Is the season over now? Was Ashley disappointed to finish 10th last season? Key players being fit against a decent premiership team. This game shows our true value and not the one the chavs would have you believe!

      • Tweed Mag

In reply – season is just under a third way through – you know Ashley better than me so ask him where he wants to finish. We have won one game. If that is our true value and you are happy, then the rest of us must have much higher standards and a lot more ambition.

    • WildBill

This has got to be worst PL ever if there’s three teams worse than the Toon. 30 points will keep us up. Masks the big issue, Ashley out!

      • nufcslf

Too bloody true. Not the best league in the world by a mile. Gets the most televised matches around the world and probably the most money thrown at it, but on average a lot of the teams are plain sh*t.

        • HarryHype59

Agree, there appears to a correlation between increasing wealth for EPL clubs and huge decline in the standard of teams.

  • Peaky

Well,I may as well give MOTD a bash for the first time this season….

    • Kenny

I`ll record it as we will be last again

    • nufcslf

Be about right. A few Watford howler’s in the first half and the 93rd minute plus the winner were the only bit worth watching.

  • robbersdog

Bloody hell, we actually won a game! Or am I dreaming?

  • Peaky

If ever a result was bitter/sweet it’s this….yes the 3 points are welcome but Fatso’s bandwagon just keeps rolling along…

    • nufcslf

A big downer, and there goes any chance of a boycott to rattle the fat barstewarsds cage. The suffering continues.

      • Kenny

Win next week and the boycott is dead in the water

        • nufcslf

Yeah and not for the better sadly enough.

        • Peaky

Was just about to type the same….talk about a catch 22 situation.

        • Carverlier football

Shouldn’t be. The win is very welcome but makes not one bit of difference to the need to protest, to boycott, to get rid of MA! KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!!

          • nufcslf

Hope this is the case. Needs to happen, but good results have saved his bacon in the past far too many times.

  • Peaky

Hope Shelvey is ok but Ki must start v Bournemouth.

    • Kenny

      He should have started today

      • nufcslf

        Totally agree.

      • Peaky

        Without a doubt…loads of energy….worries opponents.

  • Realist

Always rated Perez he’s a tidy little player and pops up with some important goals.

    • Kenny

      F##k off, Troll

      • Realist

I’m in the five swans if you fancy a pint Kenny.

        • Benmagpie

He wouldn’t dare. He’s a big mouthed blow hard coward keyboard warrior

          • Kenny

course i am, now f##k off troll

          • Benmagpie

I think you mean ‘now f##k off troll’. Says it all really doesn’t it?

          • Toon Arnie

Baby Ben is back !! We’ve missed you and your tantrums. Welcome back bore.

        • Kenny

          i don`t drink with a$$hole trolls, now f##k off

          • Wezza

Sounds just like Monkmoscow… thought he was supposed to be at the match and not trolling.

          • Realist

You’ve just shown your true colours Kenny. Offer was there but you prefer to throw insults round on here aka keyboard warrior, have a good night Kenny.

        • Squintytoonarmy

I’m in the wheatpieces pub Tewkesbury

  • 5floorshigh

forced subs via injuries and hey presto 3 points…….3 points Rafa…….yes Rafa 3 points……learn the lesson Rafa and try new things !

    • t00nraider

He hasn’t previously had the luxury. Perez has been poor but also poor form and was lacking confidence. Good service, confidence, supportive fans and above substandard officials will help us in the fight to survive.

      • theoriginalbomberman

Stop defending his stubbornness and lack of a plan B. Diame has been shocking for most of this season and Ki who made all the difference today couldn’t even get on the bench for Hayden some weeks.

  • Pezza

Well, the 2nd half was a big eff Yoo to the haters frim the Mag. Hopefully the confidence will return against Barnmuff and grow for a great atmosphere against Wolves.

    • Kenny

Get a life you piece of schit

    • Toon Arnie

You can’t ban someone for poor grammar surely ?

  • Pezza

Kenny, Jezza, Leazes’, Peaky, mark Jensen, the Magpie group, can you hear me? Can you hear me? Your boys took one hell of a beating.

    • Kenny

Anoter troll, f##k of you halfwit

      • Pezza

Ha ha, Kenny, since old Micky moose quit, you and Wezza have competed to prove yourselves the most moronic contributors.

        Talk about a bad loser.

        • nufcslf

It’s one win you pillock, had Watford not made an rse of first half chances, it would had been a comfortable win for them. Wouldn’t mind betting fatty was promised a little favour here. Back to losing ways next week.

          • Pezza

Yes, and had we finished better against Brighton, we’d have studied them.

Negativity is so fashionable among the stupid folk.

          • Toon Arnie

Boring attention seeking is so fashionable among the apologists.

        • Toon Arnie

A bad loser ? We won you spanner. The issue is with the board ( for the vast majority of us anywat with the exception of a few spineless apologists ) and not the team. The win for the real fans meant 3 points while for you, Realist, Clarko etc the win means less pressure on your hero. Come on, stop the attention seeking and talk sense.

    • nufcslf

The player’s aren’t actually injured. Fatty had it lined up and they were taken off to sign forced transfer’s that become active in January.

      • Pezza

Jeez, another simpleton to add to the list.

You all wanted Jamaal lynched anyway.

        • nufcslf

Saying stupid f**king things like Cashley is a ‘nice guy’ needs to be slaughted. The same goes for all the sheep that allow the fat c**t get away anything he likes. Results and league tables don’t lie and the last 12 years have been pathetic under this f**king rse hole.

          • Pezza

Get a grip man. If you can’t support the players, shove off to Roker Park where you belong.

          • Toon Arnie

You’re ignoring the real problem – Ashley. Surely by now you must know what this is all about ?

    • GlasgowMag

Why would you think a win would disappoint our fans!!!

      • Pezza

They are not real fans. Mark Jensen has been there in the fallow years but then again, he used to support independent voices.

      • Danimal

They seem to live in this mutually exclusive world, where people can’t want more than one thing. Well I want Newcastle to win (hence happy/relieved today). I also want the trolls’ hero Ashley to get out of our lives ASAP. By the way, when the vile creature does leave us, to be replaced by a proper owner, you can bet they (the trolls) will still want to stay on board.

    • Realist

      😂

  • Kenny

Trolls are out of their bins

    • Hughie_Gallacher

It’s always the same after a win. They get some short lived courage then crawl back into their holes.

    • Wezza

Yes well they’ll be pleased Manure won… I heard their fans right next to the commentary and they are the most foul mouthed scum I’ve ever heard.

    • Peaky

Fuckem all….more importantly Jezza is back….

      • Kenny

        Is he, that`s welcome.

    • Tweed Mag

They’ve got the night off stacking shelves at SD HQ. Some of them make you laugh, others are beyond help.

      • Kenny

        Most are beyond help

    • Leazes.

Of course they are…. you keep him going….is he a relative of yours?

  • Mirandinha9

We were like Brazil today. Beating Watford 1-0 at home, fending off their relentless pressure, surely gives the fans who went today the confidence that we’re top 6 material, even perhaps capable of getting into the Champions League. You cannot blame any fans tonight to be thinking that Lascelles could be right after all, Cashley is a ‘nice man’, who has always done his very best for the club. What a win, we can beat anyone on our day.

This will be the mentality of the sheep tonight as Cashley sits in comfort, arranging his £50 notes into large piles.

    • Leazes.

      Have faith….they’re not that fickle.

  • Andy Mac

As this is obviously out of date can someone just add the new additions to the list of usual suspects ?

Clarko, Fleckman, Monkseaton, ghostrider, ComeAndTakeIt1836, Mark Potter, Vodkamagpie, funlovingexpress, Nut, Jonathan Gibson, Martin Rooney, mentalman, Ben Jones, Rob Brown, 501ninedarter, your mum.

    • robbersdog

      Pezza.

      • JohnnyH

        Realist
And practically everyone signing in as a guest

        • Realist

No not a troll I’m just someone who dosent agree with the shyte you and many others pedal on here, obviously to your tiny mind to anyone has a different opinion to the flock must be a troll, god forbid anyone should have their own opinion😂 no more interaction tonight with heed the balls like yourself.

      • HarryHype59

        Pezza is Fleckman!

        • Danimal

          Benmagpie = Ben Jones

    • Wezza

      Mike Adam, TheMoscow72, Realist (guest).

  • Mrkgw

Welcome result – let this be the turning point for us. I know thst we hung on for the three points but they were desperately needed. Well done to the team and Rafa for that much.

  • toonterrier

A much needed three points. So for now the cracks are papered over.

  • JohnnyH

Pleased we won but waiting for the Ashley hoop lickers and the Ronnie Gill telling us everything’s rosy.

The cycle of life under Ashley continues

  • nufcslf

Wolves having bloody good go at Spuds here. Breath of fresh air from the sh*t performance we put up against them, especially with it being a home match to start the season and worst of all the fact that f**k all has changed since….even today wasn’t very covincing…..Bourmouth will be shi**ing themselves now………..
