Alan Shearer sent a pre-match message to Callum Wilson.

Thursday seeing the former Newcastle and England congratulate the Bournemouth striker on his first England call up.

Though following that up with a request/order not to score today.

Newcastle’s defence did the business and kept the six goal striker quiet, with most of the pressure instead coming from set-pieces.

At the other end of the pitch it was Salomon Rondon with a man of the match performance who grabbed the headlines.

Alan Shearer saying ‘what a performance’ as the loan striker scored twice in the first half, before being denied a hat-trick with a breakaway goal in the closing stages, Begovic just diverting it for a corner.

Rondon took two goes to put the first one away but Alan Shearer declared ‘Loved that second goal’, as the Venezuelan international almost broke the net with a bullet header that was very reminiscent of a certain former number nine…

A great day all round as Shearer and the rest of the NUFC fanbase celebrated consecutive wins for the first time since April.

Thursday 8 November Alan Shearer pre-match message to Callum Wilson after England call up:

“Brilliant man.

“Congratulations and well deserved.

“Just don’t score on Saturday please!!”

Saturday 10 November 2018 Alan Shearer post-match:

“Yes big man.

“Salomon Rondon, what a performance!

“Loved that second goal.

“Brilliant 3 points.”

          love it, its a hit.

          • Danimal

It’s got the edge on 90 minutes of monotone “we all love Leeds”, although that was made more palatable by Dwight and co stuffing them 4-1.
