Alan Shearer explains Premier League team of the week choices including Salomon Rondon
Alan Shearer has picked the eleven players, and manager, who most impressed him in the latest round of Premier League matches.
Little wonder that Manchester City have four of the twelve selected, with Pep Guardiola joined by Sterling, (D) Silva and Fernandinho.
Maybe surprising there are four players who featured in the Chelsea v Everton goalless draw, whilst Spurs, West Ham and Liverpool have one player each in Shearer’s team.
However, of most interest for Newcastle fans is the NUFC legend’s selection of Salomon Rondon.
Picking his team of the week for the official Premier League site, Alan Shearer declares:
“The complete centre-forward’s performance.
“He dominated and bullied the AFC Bournemouth defenders and was rewarded with two impressive goals.
“His second was particularly magnificent!”
Newcastle fans would have also put up the likes of Ki Sung-yeung, Federico Fernandez and Martin Dubravka as possibilities for this Alan Shearer team of the week.
Ki did very well in only his third Premier League start for Newcastle.
Whilst Martin Dubravka and Federico Fernandez have been so consistent despite the team’s poor start to the season, only six clubs have conceded less than NUFC and those two were excellent once again against an in-form Bournemouth.
