Martin Dubravka is now heading back to Tyneside to prepare for Monday night’s match against Burnley.

The Newcastle keeper and his teammates having played out their final two Nations League group matches.

Going into Friday’s match with Ukraine, the opposition had already guaranteed top spot with three wins from three games. However, with two defeats from two, Slovakia were simply trying to avoid relegation in this new look competition.

They hammered Ukraine 4-1, an impressive win which meant they only needed a point from their final match to avoid demotion.

Away at the Czech Republic on Monday night, Slovakia dominated possession (58%) but couldn’t find a way through.

The 32nd minute seeing the key moment of the match, Czech Republic breaking away and an excellent chip from Schick leaving Martin Dubravka with no chance.

An equaliser would have saved Slovakia and relegated Czech Republic but it wasn’t to be.

Elsewhere, Switzerland ended top of their three country (Belgium and Iceland) of their group on goal difference, whilst Wales finished second in theirs (Denmark and Republic of Ireland).

After Monday’s action, Salomon Rondon and DeAndre Yedlin are the only first team (squad keeper Freddie Woodman also has a Tuesday match) players with a game still left to play, Tuesday seeing Venezuela face Iran at a neutral Qatar venue, as Yedlin and the USA take on Italy in Genk (Belgium).
