The question we asked Newcastle fans on Sunday was – Would you rather Newcastle United won the FA Cup or Mike Ashley sold NUFC?

The reality of course is that Mike Ashley staying at the club pretty much ensures there is no chance of even having a proper try at attempting to win anything, as he starves the manager/squad of proper investment.

So in truth, the question is really asking Newcastle fans, simply how desperate you are to see the back of Mike Ashley?

Considering only a tiny proportion of the NUFC fanbase have seen the club win anything (50 seasons ago when the Fairs Cup was won, 63 seasons since the last FA Cup/domestic trophy), giving up hypothetically winning the FA Cup is a big deal.

This is how I put the arguments for and against yesterday:

‘Like myself, many of you will have given up any hope of either thing happening.

However, just for a second, suspend that reality.

This season’s FA Cup final takes place on 18 May 2019, before all football fans have an enforced rest in advance of looking forward to/worrying about next season.

I was asked this question in the pub last night, would I rather Newcastle United won the FA Cup on 18 May 2019 OR Mike Ashley had sold NUFC by that point.

I didn’t take any time in answering for myself but interested to see what the consensus would be amongst Newcastle fans.

At last see Newcastle win a trophy after a 50 year wait, or get rid of Mike Ashley?

Which of these is most important to you in these next seven months?’

Thanks to the thousands of Newcastle fans who took the time to vote and the final result is in:

88% Mike Ashley sells NUFC

12% NUFC win the FA Cup

A pretty spectacular result, those supporters voting leaving little doubt as to how desperately this football club needs to rid itself of Mike Ashley.

An overwhelming example of the majority of fans feeling towards Ashleys tenure.
If you apply these figures to the 50,000 regulars at SJP and (if my maths are correct), it means that only 6000 (88% of 50,000 ) are happy with Ashley, therefore 44,000 want to see him gone yet they still support him by going.

Let’s use the most powerful weapon we have against Ashley and boycott the Wolves game, and show the footballing world that Ashleys time as owner is nearing the end game and we are not prepared to take his treatment of our great club any longer !

Those supporters how can you call them that if they do not want us to win the cup. They are a disgrace wanting us to get beat. They bat on the same side as the Sunderland supporters who have their own Sports Direct banner in South Hylton.
For the 88% you are joined at the hip with Sunderland and hate Newcastle.

It’s irrelevant whether we want to win the cup. Your hero has made it impossible.

What would you rather see: –
    1. Ashcan flattened by a double Decker bus, or..
    2. See him with a cross-bow bolt through the head fired from the East Stand

      3. Boiled alive, then skinned whilst still alive, then fed to the dogs.

Why don’t you like dogs then?

      2. Then 1. Please

Now now John – we mustn’t be greedy. Then again, he is – so we’ll have 1, 2 and 3 (see below) at half time during a SKY televised match. That should raise people’s spirits!

  • MadMag83

But didn’t Ashley promise to leave if we won a cup?

    • Sickandtired

Like he said the club was for sale, again…

      • MadMag83

It’s for “sale” at a price he knows nobody will pay…

    • JohnnyH

      We don’t do cups?

      • MadMag83

A teabag stays in the cup longer.

    • Leazes.

I’m afraid this may come as a bit of a shock but he’s a liar.

Correction, he’s a proven in court liar πŸ˜‚
