A difficult start to this Premier League season for Newcastle United.

Only two points from the opening eight fixtures leaving Newcastle in 19th spot.

Looking beneath the surface though, there are some very interesting team and individual stats.

The stats below via the official Premier League site.

The team performance position summed up by how few passes and crosses Newcastle have had.

Whilst on a more positive note we have various individual contributions.

Newcastle have three of the top eight players when it comes to number of fouls committed, showing no lack of…commitment.

Maybe surprisingly, only six PL players have made more interceptions than Kenedy.

As for putting tackles in, only two have made more than Mohamed Diame.

As for clearances, Jamaal Lascelles is a healthy seventh highest.
