Sky Sports reach new low as put Dennis Wise up as independent expert on Mike Ashley and Newcastle United

Dennis Wise has been on Sky Sports this (Monday) afternoon.

It is quite unbelievable how the satellite broadcaster reports on Newcastle United and the issues surrounding it.

I can’t think of a single other club where they take a stance so ridiculously in favour of the club’s owner, despite all the evidence pointing in the opposite direction.

Earlier today, Sky Sports reported:

‘Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has challenged anyone wanting to buy the club to show him the money.

Sky Sports News understands that aside from purchasing the club, prospective buyers must also prove they have the funds to take the club forward.

One source told Sky Sports News that until Kenyon makes an offer, it is a case of “a man with no money wanting to buy a football club”.’

It is quite staggering how willing Sky Sports are to do Mike Ashley’s PR job for him, what are they getting out of it? This isn’t a professional neutral approach, instead it is always massively weighted towards Ashley. Reporting it as fact that Mike Ashley has the best interests of the club at heart, rather than challenging the claim that he would only sell to somebody else if they could prove they’d be good owners and ‘take the club forward.’

Then quoting a ‘source’ (Keith Bishop?) that has a cheap joke at the expense of a potential buyer. With which other club would there be this kind of reporting by Sky Sports?

However, the real low point, as usual, is Sky Sports accommodating Dennis Wise for the umpteenth time.

Surely be now they must feel duty bound to put him up as a Mike Ashley spokesman, if they are so keen to give him oxygen, rather than supposedly some kind of free thinking neutral.

Today, he yet again spoke total nonsense as he made it 100% clear he was speaking on behalf of the NUFC owner.

Dennis Wise insisting Mike Ashley ‘will try to do the right thing’ whilst as usual, also having a go at the Newcastle supporters.

It is laughable just how transparent it is that there is an agreed agenda between Sky Sports and Mike Ashley’s people.

They run this line about Mike Ashley only willing to sell to some other lovely caring owner, then they also have Dennis Wise on, saying exactly the same thing.

You would have to be pretty naive to think these are just random coincidences.

Who decides to invite Dennis Wise on and why are he and other Mike Ashley stooges not asked any awkward questions.

Such as how can a manager compete when the owner insists on making a profit on transfers, or how can anybody think Mike Ashley genuinely wants to sell, when the club has been up for sale these past 10 years without anything happening? Also, how about the part Wise played in the Gonzalez/Xisco transfers, and his role in the rotten Ashley regime which was shamed in the Kevin Keegan tribunal decision?

Presenter:

“Dennis Wise worked with Mike Ashley at Newcastle United and gave us his view on the potential sale of the club.”

Dennis Wise:

“If someone comes up with the right amount of money and he’s willing to obviously take it forward on terms that he is happy with, I am sure Mike Ashley will do the correct thing.

“What he is not going to do is allow somebody not to take that football club forward and he takes the blame for it.

“That is what his mindset really is.

“He’s trying his best but unfortunately in Newcastle fans’ eyes, his best is never good enough.

“And it never will be good enough…”

“But I’m sure in the long-term he (Mike Ashley) will try to do the right thing.”
