Manchester United 3 Newcastle United 2 – Match ratings of all NUFC players
Manchester United 3 Newcastle United 2 – Saturday 6 October 5.30pm
We asked Jamie Swan to give us his match ratings after the game at Old Trafford…
Ah man, gutted.
It’s the hope that kills you.
These could have read very differently – but if we play like this every week – BRAVER and more clinical, we might, might have a chance.
Some outstanding saves, and doesn’t deserve to end up on losing team.
Yedlin – 6
Couple of decent breaks forward only to get chopped down, shrank with the rest in panic at the end.
Manquillo – 6
Weak as water but luckily didn’t have too much up against him for the main part. Not a footballer.
Fernandez – 7 (First 70 mins 8)
Held tight with the Captain, but all their subs including the Muppet with the Afro Fellaini, unsettled them all.
Lascelles – 7 (First 70 mins 8)
Looked really good early doors, strong at the back and a couple of dangerous contacts in other box.
Ritchie – 8
Part of an aggressive forward line that defended from the front and pressured. Unlucky with a back heel.
Kenedy – 8.5
Where have you been all season kidda? So dangerous on counter, great goal – blew his beans on another chance.
Diame – 7 (just)
Started great, Did all the strong donkey work and moved us forward but stupid trip tipped the first domino over. Very frustrating.
Shelvey – 8
Always looked classy and was pinging quality balls first time towards front line regularly. On his knees at the end.
Muto – MOTM 9
Busy, clever, quick – great turn and goal. Unlucky not to get more.
Perez – 8
This lad is pure marmite, sometimes I’ve just got no idea how he gets a game – others he reminds you why he does. Worked hard and well with Muto.
Murphy – 5
Added to that impending feeling of doom that we couldn’t do enough to hold on.
Atsu – 3
If I wonder sometimes with Ayoze how he gets a game, I think this guy is so way out of form that he is actually a liability. Couldn’t find a team mate with a heat seeking missile.
Joselu – N/A
On too late to judge.
The Manager – 8
Brave and made changes, but there is only so much he can do with this squad that he has. You can’t polish a turd, but occasionally roll it in glitter. Last season and tenth is looking more and more glittery.
Loads of folk will no doubt be trying to nail the gaffer for a perceived retreat but the subs on each bench tell the tale of where we are at (if you didn’t know already?)
Owner in the crowd – 0
Big fat nought, that stands for the amount of people who want you here. MIKE ASHLEY, killing NUFC since 2007.
