We asked fans the question, which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle United team v Manchester United?

We put together a list of the 23 players who could potentially be selected for this 3pm Saturday afternoon kick-off.

The same old familiar pattern emerging…

A large proportion of the team voted for, more or less unopposed, some for positive reasons but many because there is pretty much no other credible options.

These include Shelvey (99%), Lascelles (99%), Dubravka (97%), Yedlin (91%), Ritchie (93%), Dummett (88%), Kenedy (84%), Fernandez (83%).

The other three positions in the team going to Muto (76%),  Diame (72%) and Joselu (44%).

So basically the majority not wanting Joselu in the team but due to a lack of any viable alternatives, he still creeps into the first eleven.

Obviously a big figure of support (76%) to give Muto a chance, Perez only getting (40%) as both he and Joselu were dire once again last Saturday against Leicester.

Diame (72%) not hitting the heights of last season but Ki (22%) and Hayden (9%) getting only limited support. However, a small but growing support for Longstaff (18%) to get his PL debut.

When alternatives are getting a chance, they are invariably disappointing, Atsu with only 9% support after being so poor against Leicester, actually dropping from the 10% support he had for the Leicester game!

So this is the fans choice Newcastle United team v Manchester United:

  • Paul Patterson

Perez will start instead of Muto..

  • Kenny

    44% for Hoss, Ffs.

    • arsmagic

Such rich pickings to choose from

    • Geordiegiants

      Who else though Kenny?

      • Paul Patterson

        Is Fraser fit yet?

        • Geordiegiants

No idea, but is he any good?

      • Kenny

Any player below 60% shouldn`t even be at the club,
that squad has relegation written all over it.
as for Kenedy, we know he has it & was ok last week, he can regain his form.

        • Geordiegiants

Yeah but who can play as the striker? Kenedy is a good player no doubt, but we do not have a centre forward.

          • Kenny

The Rat won`t be buying one

    • Wor Lass

I can understand that even though it`s frightening. What I don`t get is how round about 3% don`t want Dubravka every week and that ANYONE doesn`t want Lascelles and Jonjo!

      • Kenny

some funny people on here, i always wonder if Mtrovich together with Gayle could have produced the goods

        • Mrkgw

It would have worked I reckon. Way better than the current offerings anyway.

        • Geordiegiants

I have/had reservations regarding Mitro, but him and Gayle are probably better than what we have now.

        • Wor Lass

          Definitely.

    • nufcslf

72% for Diame is also shocking. Other than a stretch in the second of last season, he has been shyt since he arrived.

  • Mxpx

I want to see muto AND Perez in place of joselu perez in the 10 role and muto up top trying to run on behind fed by perez and shelvey from deeper I’d also like Murphy in for Ritchie as well he gives us more pace which is important when our only answer is to counter attack

    • Kenny

Be better in neither Hoss or Perez played, just highlights that the squad
      is schitt.

      • Wezza

        I’ve got Muto up front,
5-4-1 – Dubravka, Dummett, Clark, Fernandez, Lascelles, Yedlin, Kenedy, Diame, Shelvey, Ritchie, Muto.

Although the football doesn’t matter, just the money.

    • Jezza

I would prefer to see two strikers who are good enough to play in the Premiership but unfortunately we haven’t got any on our books.

      • Kenny

last proper striker for me was Demba Ba.

    • Mrkgw

Agree with the exception of Murphy.

  • Mrkgw

Sorensen should be given a go. Joselu is nowhere near the answer but Rafa sticks with him. Bizarre.

  • Ruel Intentions

That’s probably not far off the best team. I would try Murphy in behind Mutō as the front two. Failing that, Perez is ahead of Joselu for me.

  • Martin

We are 9-1 to win with the bookies which in a two horse race between teams in the same league says it all.

  • Ashley-out

Newcastle win 3-1 and the parasite is at the game, he drops down dead with shock
now is that a perfect day, or what.

  • JohnnyH

You look at that, and then whose left on the bench and you just think FFS

    • Jezza

True. That team would struggle in the Championship.

      • Kenny

        they will, next season.

        • Jezza

They certainly will especially with Lascelles, Shelvey, Rondon, Kenedy and Rafa all gone.

  • Scott Robinson

I am going for a double ‘V’ sign, and no not a 2-2 draw, just to all who support Super Mike Ashley …. MONKseaton will interpret it as a good sign, though.

  • Leicester Mag

How about Dwight Gayle oh wait…

  • Kenny

Dummett out, Hoss on the bench, Manquillo & Muto start

    • Leicester Mag

      What Mankini in ?? Ffs

      • Kenny

        Dummett not fit

        • Leicester Mag

Eye but Manquillo not fit for purpose another wasteoffookinmoney bargain bucket bin dip

      • Mrkgw

Agree – shambles. He should never get anywhere near the starting line up.

    • Peaky

Football feed on Ronnie….headline…..”and Dummett in for Manquilo”….???…..
      #ryderandcoarethickasfuck…..or drunk…or on drugs….or all 3….

  • nufcslf

This match will either be just the tonic manure needed or a 0-0 draw. We won’t score either way.

    • Jezza

True. Our only hope of scoring is a freak own goal.

    • Leazes.

Nothing certain in football, except we’ll probably not score or get a penalty…. or the opposition getting a man sent off.

      • Kenny

        😂😁😂

        • Leazes.

I’m bound to be proved wrong, last minute penalty and up steps Joselu.

          • Peaky

….or Kenedy…..1 minute after Ritchie has been hooked again….

    • Martin Rooney

      Ooops, though I agreed

  • nufcslf

Watching the Wolves v Crystal Palace match and it is scary how far ahead of both us and Palace they are. Maybe a visit to league 1 like they did the last time relegated from the prem might not be such a bad thing if it gets rid of the fat c**t in charge and a fresh start.

    • Martin Rooney

      It’s their managers

      • Dillon Tovak

Not all the money pumped in?

      • nufcslf

Might also be the fact they spent some f**king money……maybe……

        • Martin Rooney

Aye bug spending palace and you’d get more for the toon squad than wolves. Ours and their managers have very different philosophy

  • Martin Rooney

    Shwight Gayle

  • Billmag

About the best we can put out apart from Manki.

  • nufcslf

Well, well, well and a proper goal to boot.

  • Wezza

Oh my god what a goal!

    • Kenny

It`s like watching Real Madrid 😂😃😂😃😂

  • Kenny

    Kenedy 1-0

  • Wezza

    IM DREAMING 2-0!

    • Kenny

      😂😂😂

  • nufcslf

Far too long to go yet. Not holding my breath.

  • robbersdog

This isn’t happening; I’m having an early evening snooze and this is just a dream.

  • Kenny

The Fat Rats there, laughing his head off

  • Martin

Have I been transported to a parallel universe?

  • Wezza

First time in ages I’ve been happy and excited!

  • Mxpx

Unbelievable Jeff…. Both goals we’re a bit soft though the defence didn’t do its job for them… Let’s hope it lasts

  • Leazes.

What happened…I went to make a coffee?

    • nufcslf

Two well taken goals, though I’m not too sure this is really happening. The result after 90 mins will be the one I take seriously.

    • Kenny

The pep talk from the owner seems to be working

      • Leazes.

I think its more about Manure’s players trying to give Jose the final push….

        • Kenny

          that would be correct

          • Leazes.

Their players are standing off…. they never do that.

    • Jezza

I thought beforehand that it could easily be 2-0 after 10 minutes I just never imagined it would be 2-0 to us.

  • nufcslf

The only sh*t thing so far is the fact the camera just showed the fat c**t being there.

  • Wezza

And there could be more at this rate! Great performance!

  • nufcslf

Perez at his best, what a sh*t shot with so much space.

  • Kenny

Rashford doing a good impression of the Hoss

  • Mxpx

That was a let off still Jose making subs unforced on 19 mins says they’re rattled to me

  • Wezza

I hope the Lee brothers are enjoying this.

  • Billmag

    Muto should have made 3.

    • nufcslf

3 would have left no way back.

      • Billmag

        👍

      • Jezza

This is Newcastle United, marra. We could easily go 3-0 up and still lose it.

        • nufcslf

Oh, I know. Just meant this match the way the first half has gone.

  • ToonTom

Critical opportunity by Muto there for 0-3? Hope we don’t pay for it.

  • Wezza

Seriously we could be 4-0 up. Hope we don’t rue these missed chances!

  • Coach Clagnut

Stonewall penalty. Minimum a corner. Nowt!

  • nufcslf

How was that not only a corner, but a penalty. 3 blind mice. Pathetic.

  • ToonTom

That’s a blatant penalty and we didn’t even get a corner!!!!

    • Mxpx

We might even have scored it with joselu on the bench

  • Wezza

Unbelievable. Handball and penalty not given NOR a corner!
    VAR!

  • Billmag

    Blatant effing penalty.

    • Jezza

The away team never get a penalty at Old Trafford. It’s an unwritten rule of English football.

      • Wezza

When was the last time I wonder

        • Jezza

I remember we actually got one there a few years ago and it was the first in 13 years.

          • Billmag

It was the norm with red nose.

          • Jezza

True, I remember the time when five or six of their players physically ganged up on the referee and forced him to reverse a penalty decision.

          • Billmag

They were famous for that G Neville the instigated.

          • Coach Clagnut

Lead by the quiet & angelic Keane,Butt,Neville etc. The entitled generation.

        • Wezza

          1 penalty every 19.8 matches.

      • ToonTom

And we never get penalties as a rule.

      • Billmag

Leazes is dead right about us and officials.

  • Wezza

    Oh my god Perez!

  • nufcslf

F**k off Perez, what was that.

  • ToonTom

Muto arm in the box. That’s balanced that one out!

    • Billmag

It came at him too quick where the Young one was blatant.

  • Wezza

Thats massive making it to half time at 2-0!

  • Coach Clagnut

Ferguson’s in attendance, hence no penalty. Tradition and a’ll that shyte don’t you know.

    • Jezza

It would be brilliant if we beat them in front of that barsteward.

      • Coach Clagnut

Drain the blood right out of his bugle that would.

  • Mrkgw

Won’t tempt fate but what a first half. Must have been some night out between Ashley and the troops as the difference from last game is startling.

    • Billmag

      Muto / Hoss no comparison.

      • Mrkgw

Have to agree there. Muto is much, much better.

        • Billmag

          👍

  • Kenny

Disgusting, a stonewall penalty, fatso was on the phone, he must be cancelling January.

    • Jezza

Yes we won’t be getting those couple of duffers on loan from the Championship to replace Lascelles and Shelvey now.

      • Kenny

        He`s all smiles.

      • Kenny

        2 excellent goals Jezza

        • Jezza

I’ll look out for them on Match Of The Day.

  • Coach Clagnut

ManUre are shyte all over the pitch. Can’t see them being as bad in the 2nd half but here’s hoping.

  • Kenny

Having to watch the vermin on Bein Sports, Keys & Gray

    • Mrkgw

They will be gutted I bet.

      • Kenny

they are giving the ref a hard time actually

    • nufcslf

      Nasty.

      • Kenny

        Very

  • Kenny

The ref lives 6 miles from Old Trafford

    • Jezza

He’s probably a Man City fan then.

      • Kenny

        didn`t give the pen

        • nufcslf

          Very true.

  • robbersdog

If we win, will Ashley be vomiting into a fireplace in the Man Utd boardroom?

    • nufcslf

If so, I hope he chokes to death on it.

      • Coach Clagnut

Fatty could swallow a hairdryer and it wouldn’t touch the sides.

  • Bowlsey

F*ck me! More of the same in the second half please! The only thing I can hear on 606 is Manure fans moaning and whingeing. Yeah, try having Mike Ashley as your owner for the last 11 years and watch your club being dismantled, and then get back to me about feeling sorry for yourselves. We should be leading by more goals but I’m very happy as it stands! Need to keep this up in the second half!

    • nufcslf

First 15 mins are massive and not to concede. Going to be a long half and the players need to be ready and not defend a two nil lead.

      • Kenny

They have to hold the line because they have to come at us

      • Bowlsey

Agreed. Need to keep the pressure on!

      • Billmag

More high balls to deal with Felani is on.

  • Wezza

We are sitting back now and not pressing them!

    • Jezza

Hate to say it but the writing’s on the wall.

      • Bowlsey

Try to think positive, Jezza! We can do it! (hides behind sofa with fingers crossed)

      • Coach Clagnut

Never been confident at 2-0 half time. Seen too many games go pear shaped in the second half. Mind, handing them the initiative through pzz poor passing doesn’t help.

      • Wezza

Me might have to rely on their poor finishing. They’re really playing now. We have stopped pressing them!

  • nufcslf

Need much more of the to make them have to work harder for everything. Brown trousers at the minute.

    • Billmag

      I hate corners against us.

  • ToonTom

Crowd getting up now. Need to calm this down.

  • Mxpx

Not sure they have woken up but we’ve switched off

  • ToonTom

Yes, reversion to type now in the second half and the atmosphere smacks of a long long journey to the final whistle.

  • Leazes.

They’ve just shown a close up Manure fans singing their version of Ashley out…. my god they’re ugly…. thats post watershed.

    • Kenny

they are after the top guys. not Jose

      • Leazes.

Got the sound off…. those Manure players aren’t playing for the manager at all…. no movement off the ball

      • Bowlsey

I work with a few Manure fans and they all want Jose sacked. They all want a return to the glory days of when ol’ Bacon Face was in charge, without realising that those days are over. They’ll never replace Fergie.

  • nufcslf

Kick Perez as much as you want, it might do him so good.

  • Mxpx

Matic kicks our player in the side nothing Ritchie takes a free kick too fast and that’s a yellow ?

  • ToonTom

    Great chance for Kenedy there.

    • Wezza

he could have squared it argh.

  • Billmag

How come the effing clock seems to stand still.

  • ToonTom

Sanchez coming on? That’s nice for them …

  • Coach Clagnut

    Who’d have guessed Pogba’s a thug.

  • Billmag

Thats a bad awful tackle by Pogba.

    • Coach Clagnut

Cynically raked Yedlins’ achilles. Should have been a red.

      • Billmag

If it had been Shelvey he would have been.

  • GlasgowMag

Watching in the pub never been so proud of an NUFC performance Rafa doubters hold your head in shame!!!

  • ToonTom

Shame we are so desperate for the points – it would be good to enjoy this!

  • Bowlsey

However this game ends, Manure have never been 0-2 down at Old Trafford inside ten minutes in Premier League history. Hats off to Rafa and the lads!

  • Coach Clagnut

    Diame, what a moron!

  • ToonTom

From the moment Perez made a mess of the cross, this loked bad.

    • ToonTom

I typed this while Man U were waiting to take the free kick. From the moment Perez failed to make something of the cross, you just knew what was coming.

  • Kenny

Kenedy injured, lucky there`s a break coming up

  • Wezza

    1-2 Please no

  • Wezza

They don’t deserve to get anything from this.

  • Coach Clagnut

30 minutes of hell to come.

  • Bowlsey

    Oh f*ck…no no no…not again…

  • nufcslf

    Here we go.

    • Kenny

Slomo gave the free kick away

      • nufcslf

No need to neither, plenty of bodies back.

  • Billmag

    Panic.

  • Wezza

20 mins of hell to come. Come on lads.

    • Coach Clagnut

You’re forgetting the 10 minutes of injury time if ManUre need a winner.

      • nufcslf

        Exactly

      • Wezza

        Correct!

  • Bowlsey

My a*se is going like the clappers. Why can we never enjoy watching the Toon without feeling sick with panic and dread?!

  • ToonTom

You feared when Muto missed for 0-3. And you felt dread when we didn’t get the penalty. It’s going to be a long long 20 minutes.

  • Wezza

Unbearable. Come on we deserve the win! PRESS THEM!

  • robbersdog

I’m not a religious person, but I’m praying right now. And I’ve started smoking again.

  • robbersdog

    Heartbroken.

  • Wezza

    Absolute c***s

  • Wezza

Just go for it cos were gonna lose this now.

  • ToonTom

    Oh Diame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kenny

You sit back, you pay the penalty

    • Wezza

Yep we did the mirror opposite in the 2nd half… didnt press them and sat back.

  • Bowlsey

Well of course they’re level… we’ve sat back in the second half instead of pressing them. It’s not rocket science. F*cking gutted…

  • Billmag

    Diami oh dear.

  • nufcslf

Diame, you [email protected] Wouldn’t rate you even if you did score………

  • robbersdog

Atsu on for Muto. Dunno why.

  • Coach Clagnut

Can’t say we haven’t had the chances. Pity we haven’t the quality to capitalise.

    • nufcslf

Very much so. This book is so old, I’m a bit sick of it.

  • Coach Clagnut

I’d take a half fit Ritchie over a fully fit Atsu everyday.

  • Bowlsey

Story of our season so far. Plenty of chances and we just cannot convert. Nowhere near enough quality upfront. Same old f*cking story under Ashley.

  • ToonTom

We’re giving them time on the ball and in dangerous positions.

  • nufcslf

If it ends a draw, really is as bad as a loss with the start so far this season.

    • Bowlsey

      Agreed. I’m utterly deflated.

  • ToonTom

I’ll take a point now, no doubt about that.

    • Jezza

Me too but we’re going to lose today, no question.

      • Kenny

same old story, score then sit back

        • nufcslf

Just doesn’t work and never has.

          • Kenny

            exactly

        • Billmag

Disagree Kenny we’ve had a canny few chance’s the second half.

  • Coach Clagnut

    15 minutes left (Ferguson Time).

    • Jezza

If all else fails the referee will just keep the game going till Manchester get the winning goal..

      • Wezza

        Correct.

      • Kenny

        happened before with Man U

        • Jezza

It certainly happened often enough in the run in to the end of the 95/96 season.

  • Coach Clagnut

    Atsu,Fcking Atsu.

  • Tweed Mag

They have done enough to get Mourinho sacked. Just hang on for a point.

  • robbersdog

Oh f*ck, Hoss is coming on!

    • Tweed Mag

      He’ll get the winner.

      • robbersdog

        For which team?

  • Wezza

Come on Hoss get a winner!

    • Kenny

      😂😂😂😂

  • ToonTom

    Four extra minutes

  • Kenny

    Atsu wants shooting

    • Coach Clagnut

He’s absolutely stealing a living as a footballer.

  • Coach Clagnut

Game over….90 seconds of injury time to come if we’re lucky!

  • Wezza

    Jezza called it.

  • ToonTom

Inevitable given our history. It just happens time after time.

  • Mrkgw

    Atsu and Murphy both passengers.

  • Kenny

    Bang, lost

  • ToonTom

Oh, and it was £3 billion Sanchez.

  • DC1964

    Aghhhhhhhh!!!!

  • Clarko

    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafael Benitez…

    • nufcslf

F**k off, where were you when it was 2 nil.

      • Clarko

I was waiting for Benitez to park the bus and lose us the game.

        • Billmag

          Hey Cuckoo do one

  • robbersdog

Oh well, the same old sh*t sandwich. Without the bread.

  • Mxpx

This is why parking the bus is a terrible tactic

    • Clarko

      And again…

      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafael Benitez…

    • Billmag

Howay man we didn’t park the bus.

  • lupa

    Gutted

  • nufcslf

What a f**king disgrace and so bloody predictable. The no money spent continues.

    • Jezza

Nobody to blame but the fat pig.

  • Wezza

Predictable Shearer chants. He turned you down, get over it,

  • Peaky

The bottom 3 now will be the bottom 3 next May….just not sure in which order..

  • Tino o

I hate supporting this [email protected] club

    • Malcolm Fisher

Then you know what to do…bye

      • Tino o

        Fck off wnker

Oops, hit a nerve did we hahah

          • Tino o

            Nonce

          • Malcolm Fisher

            Hehehe SMB

  • Kenny

Newcastle players just can`t sustain it for 90 mins because they haven`t got the quality to do so.

    • Jezza

Agreed entirely. All the fat greedy pig’s fault.

      • Peaky

Well predicted Jezza….while you’re on can I have the Euromilion numbers for next Friday ??

        • Kenny

          Me 1st
          😂😁😂😁

        • Jezza

Sadly few things in this life are as easy to predict as Newcastle United letting you down.

      • Kenny

Correct, chances are good we`ll be back in the championship

        • Jezza

It’s an absolute certainty. I can see this Newcastle team going through the entire season without a single win.

  • Wezza

We pressed first half and sat back second. We got what we deserved in 2nd half.

  • Billmag

Jezza called bit when we where 0-2. The smallest man on the pitch scored with a header.

  • Coach Clagnut

Dubravka’s had a blinder. He’ll have our glutton rubbing his stubbies at the prospect of a 20 million profit when he’s flogged off following relegation.

    • Mxpx

You’re right on both counts.. Muto too

    • Kenny

      Motm

  • lupa

Well played lads 100% from all

  • ToonTom

Bizarrely, enjoyed the game. You get used to the defeats after 40+ years. We needed the point(s) but – as so often – it wasn’t to be. When you have lightweights like Diame (header for 3-2) or weak links like Atsu, this is what you should expect.

  • Bowlsey

Oh f*ck off!! Man U deserved f*ck all from this game!! I’m sick and f*cking tired of this sh*t! Right, I’m going to get drunk now. Wake me up when Ashley’s dead…

    • Wezza

I agree they didnt deserve anything from the game.

  • robbersdog

Had we got the penalty we deserved, we would’ve been 3-0 up, and might well have held on for the win.

I know, I’m clutching at straws. This really hurts.

  • Mxpx

I guess we got no points but we were involved in a game of football

    • DC1964

      No consolation! Gutted!

  • robbersdog

    Gutted. The nightmare continues.

  • Wezza

I just knew it when we missed those chances in first half.

  • Tweed Mag

Our only chance is a big spend in January. Fatty has seen it for himself.

    • Wezza

      Won’t happen.

      • Jezza

Definitely won’t happen. We’ll be scraping around for pay per play loan deals again.

        • nufcslf

As always under this none football minded owner.

        • Tweed Mag

Assuming they will want to sign. Ashley’s reputation and all that.

    • WildBill

Fat boy doesn’t care mate, he’s only in Manchester to have dinner with Rio Ferdinand

      • Coach Clagnut

Or looking for advice from the Double Glaziers on how they’ve managed to siphon a billion quid from the Old Toilet treasury over 13 years. Fatty’s an amateur compared to the yank sharks.

  • Kenny

    Awful in the 2nd half

    • DC1964

Got it all wrong 2nd half!

      • Wezza

Yeah. Why… just why did we sit back and not press like we did in the first half. Awful tactic.
I’ve never been this gutted in ages.
        Ashley out!

        • nufcslf

Yeah, I actually cared today with it being a chance to watch Mournino faces like it was in the first 9 mins at 2 nil.

        • Bowlsey

Never mind Ashley out, he should be stood against a wall and shot for what he’s done to Newcastle.

        • Jezza

I know how you feel, marra. I’d rather have seen us thumped 5-0 than get beat the way we did.

  • MrShack66

Knew we’d get beat before kick off. Gutted like this though.

    • Jezza

I knew we’d get beat when we were 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go.

  • ToonTom

Great performance from the Toon, obviously especially in the first half. Second half was too great a gamble, parking the bus and inviting them on. A stronger team would have arguably pushed-on rather than dropped-off. Therein lies the lesson.

    • Kenny

a great performance is over 90 mins, sorry but those players are not good enough

      • Jezza

Most of them won’t even be good enough next season when we’re in the Championship. That’s what comes of leaving £123 million television money untouched and making a £20 odd million transfer profit on top.

        • ToonTom

It definitely wasn’t untouched. You can buy a jumper from the shop he bought with it.

          • Jezza

            Fair comment.

          • Carverlier football

You can buy a Donnay tracksuit now…

  • Leicester Mag

Must of been some team talk at half time. Just knew it there’s a losing ethos throughout the club.

    • WildBill

True, it doesn’t help that Diame misses sitters every week though.

  • Bowlsey

Apparently there’s Manure fans crying… I’ve heard it all now.

    • Wezza

It’s like them, they only just beat us and should have won easy on paper.

    • WildBill

They are going nowhere, all this was is a stay of execution for Jose, he’ll still be gone by Xmas.

      • nufcslf

I totally agree and for the manure fans that want him, let them suffer.

        • Dillon Tovak

You just know they want him gone, but they think “we’re manchester United and we stand by our managers!” 😂

  • TwinFire

Why is Diame still in this team? Didnt we get that Korean fella to replace him? Hell, a trash can would be an improvement.

    • Kenny

      There isn`t anyone else

    • Dillon Tovak

Because Hayden is a little 💩

  • DC1964

Was gutted at 2-2 but to actually lose the game is tough to take!

    • Wezza

      A kick in the teeth.

    • nufcslf

I’m just not surprised and any thought of giving a sh*t is sadly gone and let the rest of the weekend begin. It is only half 11 in the morning here and this won ‘t get a second though. Long weekend here in Vancouver as well.

      • Malcolm Fisher

As will be here in Mexico

  • Peaky

Serves Fatso right….he should have bought them all a tiramisu the other night now…

    • Tweed Mag

The free holiday promise has not worked

      • Kenny

Rafa told them it was Blackpool at half time

      • Dillon Tovak

Surely the players want time away on their own at the end of the season, who wants to go on a group holiday with their entire company after a gruelling year?

        • Tweed Mag

          Exactly.

  • 5floorshigh

once again second half played with fear and no confidence, love to know what Rafa tells them at half time.

    • Billmag

Did you blame Rafa when we where 2-0 up.

      • Jezza

The reality was that we had an average Championship team up against a team containing several players who each individually cost more than our entire first team squad. There was no way that we could have possibly have remained the better team for the full 90 minutes.

        • Kenny

Exactly, the quality isn`t there to sustain it for 90mins

      • 5floorshigh

fact is we have been worse in every second half this season

    • Coach Clagnut

Nowt to do with half time talks. When you have totally moronic players misplacing 5 & 10 yd passes, handing the initiative to the opposition, step forward Atsu & Diame, you could have the City squad making up the numbers but they’ll lose more than they’ll win.

    • GToon

Probably “if they score you lot have had it!” Hahahaha

  • Coach Clagnut

When you’re relying on brain-dead players such as Atsu & Diame who struggle to make accurate 10 yard passes under no pressure whatsoever, the writing is well and truly on the wall. Rafa’s ability to make the collective stronger than the sum of the parts is remarkable given what he’s been forced to work with.Sadly, dumb players will always undo the best efforts of whoever happens to be managing them.

    • Billmag

      Well said.

  • Leicester Mag

Newcastle football’s answer to a size 10 doc Martin in the teeth. We never disappoint to disappoint.

  • ToonTom

It’s what we do best, with brief periods of quality (Keegan, Robson) squeezed in between the pain.

    • Jezza

I’ve been supporting this club since the early 70’s and it’s been pure misery and suffering for 90% of that time.

      • Tweed Mag

I first went in 1967. I should have been sectioned years ago.

      • MrShack66

My first game was August 77. I reckon we’ve had about 10 (4 brilliant) good seasons in that time. The rest have been mediocre to awful in that time. This season is gonna be a stinker.

        • Jezza

This season is very likely to be the worst in the club’s history.

      • Leicester Mag

First game 1974 age 7. More good than bad but seldom felt so pessimistic

        • Big Al 1967

First game 1975 against Derby likewise aged 7. Got beat 2-0. Should have known then

          • WildBill

Mine was 1972, aged 7, 3-2 win versus Leeds. I should packed it in then, it hasn’t got any better than that.

      • Old codger

        Sadly that’s true
Told a man Utd relative to get 10 quid on 3-2 at half time because it’s just what we do
        Defeatist or realist ?

        • WildBill

Experienced, that’s all, we’ve seen it all before mate.

      • Danimal

I’ve been inviolved since the impressive 1977-78 relegation parade. I consider myself lucky, Keegan mk 1 and 2, Robson. But we’re certainly in a barren spell now. If I can hang on for another 20 or 30 years, I’ll be in a position to give a final verdict. Worst case scenario – Ashley still alive and still owns the club. Then various permutations of those two highly undesirable outcomes.

  • ToonTom

Three relegations in 9 seasons? I think we have only had four relegations before that in 100+ years?

    • Jezza

Correct. Says it all about the fat pig’s tenure at our club.

    • GToon

Yep. Spot on. I think Ashley is collecting them like some people collect stamps.

  • Malcolm Fisher

Brilliant first half, but reverted to type second. Diame has been shocking this season. Not for the first time commiting foul on the edge of the area and resulted in a goal, and Atsu and Murphy, what a waste of space, not one ball from Atsu found a Newcastle player. If only they had had the same attitude in the second half. How much difference did Kenedy going off make? Still some good positives from the game..When they play attacking football, they can play well, but it’s not consistent.
Have we turned the corner? time will tell,I hope so.

    • Jezza

Our players simply aren’t good enough to compete in this division.

      • Dillon Tovak

Completely correct, Murphy and Atsu make us so much weaker but a team has to make substitutions.
The worse thing about this loss (in this manner) is I could see it coming a mile off, if I was shocked and felt robbed it would be easier to take.

        • Big Al 1967

All the way the second half I was thinking in my head ‘We need to get another to take a point’

    • WildBill

Don t know if we’ve turned any corners, at least Joselu didn’t play (bar a few minutes), the first half showed that’s addition by subtraction! We need a win badly, results are everything. Not encouraging moments.

      • nufcslf

This result, especially the it happened, puts him straight back in the starting for the next match. No win situation.

  • Dillon Tovak

Diame has read the colback handbook for how to throw it away.

  • Kenny

I think January will be to late to save us unless we buy Messi

    • Mxpx

      I think we’ll get berahino

      • Jezza

        On loan of course.

        • Coach Clagnut

Only if they pay half his wages.

        • Kenny

he won`t be buying, that`s for sure

  • Leicester Mag

Three teams did not spend in the summer and they make up the bottom 3. Never before has the correlation between money and quality been so stark. As a result we are a poor team with no depth. A good team can play badly and win, a poor team can lose when playing well. In some ways today’s capitulation second half is more worrying than the other results

    • nufcslf

It is as simple as you say and nice to see the no money spent being proved right. So the three of them should be at the bottom.

    • Kenny

I`ve said it time & time again we have a good patch but the players haven`t got the quality to do it over 90mins

  • Tino o

Why did Rafa decide to play with a man down by bringing on atsu a terrible terrible player

    • Danimal

We were a man down already with the very local “impartial” referee.

      • Tino o

        You’re not wrong there

  • Kenny

I`m away out for a 7 course Irish meal, 6 potatoes & a bottle of whisky.

    • Coach Clagnut

Had that when I was on a diet, lost 3 days!

      • Kenny

I am going out but it`ll be more drink than food, you need it after watching Newcastle

        • Coach Clagnut

N.U.F.C., killing appetites and drying throats for 100+ years.
I’ve got a thumping headache & iv’e already took my blood pressure and beta-blocker meds. Might give the medicinal Guinness a go.

          • Kenny

            Spot on

          • nufcslf

            Very good

          • Danimal

What’s that in Latin? Would make a nice club badge.

          • Coach Clagnut

You could ask A.B.dePfeffel (small) Johnson or Jacobean Tree – Frogg. They enjoy banter in a dead language.

          • Danimal

Just to be absolutely clear, I despise those two accidents of sperm almost as much as I despise Ashley.

      • Danimal

I gave up drinking for a fortnight and lost two weeks. Etc.

  • GToon

Driving home in the car I put the radio for a second to listen to 5 live only to hear some Man U fan (with a Manchester accent) ranting about being 2-0 down after 15 minutes or so. I turned the radio off, laughed to myself and thought don’t worry mate you will win 3-2 just like the 4-3 a few years ago or really any other game against a big team where we try to hang on.
When I got in my son was going mad as they had just got the winner. I just laughed. To me it’s just the equivalent of a grown up letting his kid go 2-0 up the back garden and then bagging the winner just as “it’s time for tea” is called. Men against boys. Relegation here we come.

    • WildBill

Sounds far fetched. The Man United fan with a Manchester accent I mean.

      • GToon

Was quite funny actually. He referred to us as one of the worst teams in premier league history. He was really angry. I left the radio off as I didn’t want to be updated on their equalizer and winner. Unfortunately my son was going mad in his room and I could hear him from outside as I arrived home. He gave away the inevitable.

    • nufcslf

Very well said and so bloody true.

  • Tweed Mag

The pressure is all on Ashley. I bet he was even more smug than usual at half time. Bishop was probably penning an article about how two fingers meant 2-0. Incompetence, ignorance, arrogance. Three ingredients for relegation. Does he care?
    No.

    • Carverlier football

At half time he was regretting the promise to spend in January and thinking of ways to weasel out of it. Actually, he still is…

      • Jezza

He never has any problem weasling out of promises he makes. Just ask Rafa Benitez.

  • Danimal

In years gone by I would have been devastated by that third goal. Today, I was a bit disappointed for a few seconds then I got back to the important business of beer and curry. In a bizarre way, by destroying our club and our spirit, Mike Ashley might have lowered my blood pressure and extended my life. Regardless, if I outlive the vile waste of skin, I will dance on his grave. Cheers!

    • Coach Clagnut

Unlikely I will so, if you would be so kind, please sprinkle a few drops from the skin hosepipe on my behalf.
      Grateful in anticipation.

      • Danimal

        I’ll try to remember.

    • Carverlier football

Bizarrely their first goal was more gutting for me than their third – by that point I was resigned to the inevitable. Still, I think I actually felt more in that match than any other this season…

      • Jezza

Agreed. It was game over as soon as Manchester got one back.

  • Kenny

Lads, i don`t think we will get over 20 pts this season, now i`m off for a drink

    • Danimal

      That’s my prescription too. Enjoy.

    • nufcslf

      Enjoy

    • Jezza

I can’t see us even getting to 10 points.

      • Ron

Jezza I think Kenny’s pts refer to pints not points that’s why he’s off for a drink now.

  • Leicester Mag

Just waiting for Chumleyfookwits match report in Chronic about what plucky losers the boys were today. As ever missing the trucking point, decent teams don’t go 2 nil up in 10 minutes and lose

    • Danimal

Didn’t win a single header or 50/50 of any variety in the second half. It was like a cup tie, the plucky amateurs somehow scored first, then it was a matter of how many goals the full time professionals could score in the time remaining.

      • nufcslf

        Yip

  • Big Hairy Man

First half was a spirited display against a lethargic Manure and the 2-0 lead was well deserved and could have been more. Second half when they picked up the pace and went for it the gulf in class was laid bare for all to see. Quality v cheap. Over to you fatso.

    • nufcslf

Don’t think he gives a sh*t and the football is the furthest thing from his concerns. Very sad situation.

  • Ashley-out

we scored two very good goals & then come out for the second half like a different team. going down.

  • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Sanchez – as substitute was allegedly the subject of a £30m transfer fee, with agent fees of a £10m and a signing-on fee of £29m. Our three subs were half that put together. This is why we cannot compete at this level. Murphy. Atsu and Joselu are hardly impact subs.

    • Clarko

Imagine wasting €24.30m on those three…

      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafa,
      Rafael,
      Rafael Benitez…

      • Danimal

        What?

        • Tony English

The king of what-about-ism raises his ugly head.
          King of the Euro.

          • Ron

            Or Queen

    • Ron

I hope you can prove these figures – Clarko is having a late night (mustn’t be going to Sunday School tomorrow) we might be here all night!

  • Tony English

    MAN UNITED 3
    Juan Mata £27m
    Anthony Martial £58.5m
    Alexis Sanchez £63m
    £148.5m

    NEWCASTLE UNITED 2
    Kenedy £9m (loan)
    Yoshinori Muto £9m
    £18m

Level playing field? Feeding off scraps.

    *transfermarkt – Current Market Values

    • Danimal

      Cue Clarko…

      • Tony English

I’m sure he’ll come back to me in Euro’s to confuse the issue. No one is saying we should be able to compete with Man U’s spend, but the gap is ridiculous.

        • Tony English

          #as_predicted #loves_the_euro

    • Clarko

Yeah transfermarkt’s market values are not representative of actual values. Silly comment.

      • Cockneytrev

        Hoop licker,,👅👅

      • Tony English

*except when it suits your argument.
        Prat.

        • Clarko

I’ve never used transfermarkt’s market values in any of my arguments…

          #liarliar

          • nufcslf

That’s because your argument is always totally f**king pointless and in defense of your fat mate. The club is joke because of Cashley, yet he remains. You get what you deserve, like the result today. Hope he is in a fatal car crash on the way home, so my telly is never graced with the fat c**ts face ever again. Well, I can only hope anyway. But like being 2 up today and going onto win, it won’t happen

          • GToon

I never understand Clarko and his comments. I know he might be playing devils advocate but at the end of all of our discussions we have the league table to look at. A league table all of us could have predicted after the summer of making yet another profit.

          • Clarko

            Me:
Arguing about the use of transfermarkt’s market values

            You:
            You’re always arguing about Ashley

          • Tony English

*says the man who says The Chronicle is an accurate source of factual information…

            #totalbellend

          • Clarko

If it wasn’t you would be able to tell me why, unfortunately you can’t do that, I wonder why…

Imagine being so critical of the media’s credibility only to go on and lie in your own comments…

            #liarliar #hypocrite

          • Tony English

The Chronicle is inaccurate in it’s reporting because when it loses access to the club it has nothing of interest to write, therefore the majority of reporting is done with an axe hanging over their heads.

Tell you what smarty pants, you can use any source from any rag you like, make up the evidence yourself if you like, you compare the value of Man U’s scorers and ours today, here’s the values at the time of transfer, you can quibble about the swop and loan prices and those sources (because you’re allowed to criticise sources even when it’s your beloved transfermarkt).

            MAN UNITED 3
            Juan Mata £40.26m
            Anthony Martial £54m
Alexis Sanchez swop deal – valued at time of transaction by Transfermarkt/Forbes at £63m
            £157.26

            NEWCASTLE UNITED 2
Kenedy – valued at time of transaction by Transfermarkt/Forbes at £9m
            Yoshinori Muto £9.63m
            £18.63m

            #apologist #prat #kingofquotingineuros #billynomates

          • Clarko

‘The Chronicle is inaccurate in it’s reporting because when it loses access to the club it has nothing of interest to write, therefore the majority of reporting is done with an axe hanging over their heads.’

I don’t see any evidence of inaccurate reporting by the Chronicle in that paragraph, I wonder why…

Oh and the values you have used this time are also incorrect, for example Manchester United bought Juan Mata €44.73m (transfermarkt) on the 24/01/2014, the exchange rate at the time would mean the fee Manchester United actually paid was £36.93m (using exchange rates of 0.8256 from poundsterlinglive) not the £40.26m that you have used. You really don’t have a clue what you’re talking about or what you’re doing.

          • Tony English

Are you actually one of the professional idiots that write for the Chron, or are you just a casual idiot? Like just a hobby or something?

Blimey…here we go…The King of the Euros!

You do realise transfermarkt have a dot co dot uk site that uses £££’s sterling? You do realise they are THEIR figures using their algorithms?

Are you now saying YOU can hold up their site with euros as a credible source, but I CAN’T use their site with sterling without running their figures through a second website that you have approved to your exacting standards?

So you are now picking and choosing which parts of their site are acceptable, jesus, you’re going to have to get rule books printed up and sent out to us all, or at least a pamphlet so we can follow your diktat. I suggest you write transfermarkt an email questioning their exchange rate algorithm, and telling them which site you approve of.

Did you make some faustian pact where you have to spend eternity aiming to be the singular most unpopular Newcastle ‘fan’ in history?

Any way you slice it von commandant, their outlay versus ours is embarrassing…as are you.

          • Clarko

The values that you used were 100% wrong.

Transfermarkt store the fees in euros, those fees are then converted to other currencies using live exchange rates meaning any fee that you’re looking at on the UK site is inaccurate, if you were informed you would know that but like I said, you don’t know what you’re doing. Transfermarkt is a fantastic site for people who know how to use it, you are not one of those people.

I repeat, you used incorrect values, twice…

          • Tony English

            #casualidiot

          • Billmag

            😀😀😀😀

          • Clarko

Casual idiot? Really? When you’re the one who used wrong numbers? Twice?

          • Ron

            Not professional, just idiot.

          • Tony English

            The Chronicle inaccurate Reporting:

            13th April 2006
            Author Mike Kelly
“Who was Joe Wilson, the Bard of Tyneside? We look at the life of the legendary performer”

            Quote:
“He had married Isabella English in Newcastle Registry Office in 1869….Isabella and her three surviving children, and Isabella’s mother, Grace English, sailed from Liverpool on the Caspian, bound for Quebec, to start a new life”

Isabella’s Mother, Grace English (my three times great grandmother) never sailed to Quebec and died in June 1883 in Shilbottle. The 1881 census shows her living at 40 New Grange Road in the district of Hedworth, Monkton and Jarrow.

But hey, The Chronicle is more accurate than the census.
            Happy now?

          • Clarko

            😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

That is hilarious. That is by far the best post you’ve made.

          • Tony English

..and that just goes to show how fake you are when you’ve lost an argument and you have zero euro based ‘facts’ to spew…emoji’s really…that transparent? Desperate.

“I don’t see any evidence of inaccurate reporting by the Chronicle in that paragraph, I wonder why…”

Well now you do. It’s lovely to see your reaction when it is something that you cannot for one second be a smartarse about, 100% inaccurate reporting by your bible.

            Goodnight clever clogs.

          • Clarko

No, what I see is a quote from ‘2006’, about a completely irrelevant topic, that you say is wrong, this coming from the same person who a few comments ago said that I used transfermarkt’s market values in my arguments…

Still hilarious by the way, it’s even funnier now that I know you were being serious.

            😂 😂 😂

          • Tony English

You asked for proof that The Chronicle prints innacurate stories. We have gone round and round in circles talking about supposed transfers speculation from as far back as Socrates to present day, and last week you went as far as criticising Rafa for players he supposedly wanted to sign and their form being currently poor.

That paper has been a rag for years, I would be surprised if anyone on here (bar you) use it as credible source of information anymore.

What I have just shown you is that paper can’t even research and report a story accurately with a hundred years to get their facts right.

          • Clarko

You haven’t given an example from the present day, you give an example about an irrelevent topic from 2006, which was 12 years ago and you’ve mentioned Socrates, who was a player who we were linked with in 1983, a whole 35 years ago. Two examples, examples that you haven’t explained or provided proof for, does not prove that the Chronicle has a history of reporting inaccurate stories, it does not prove that they aren’t a credible source of information or that they lie to sell stories. The fact that you could only find/recall two mistakes in the last 35 years actually proves the opposite.

Can you quote where I criticised Benitez for the targets that he missed out on?

          • Tony English

Bah diddums. Hates being proved wrong. Demands exacting standards from contributors that he can’t live up to himself.

At no point did I dilute my criticism of their reporting to a specific section of the rag or a time frame. You need to be a little less sloppy in your questioning, if you want to set parameters, do so.

You asked for “evidence of inaccurate reporting” I gave cast iron irrefutable proof of an inaccurate report, dated and attributed, concerning my own family – something no end of research on your behalf can counter.

I can cite articles from within the last six months re-imagining and misreporting the career and history of a local “notoriety”, which a family member of mine was agent/manager of for over a decade.

Reports which are so far away from the truth they are laughable, and also very simple to disprove by reading one or two autobiographies which are readily available on kindle.

But on balance I thought it simpler to outline them ballsing up a century+ old historic fact that is very simple to research.

            Try harder smartarse.

          • Clarko

And two examples in 35 years is not evidence.

          • Ron

Either way £36.93m is lost higher than either of our strikers past or present. Do you really not understand what Tony is, very patiently, trying to say?

          • Tony English

He understands. He’s just a total Richard.

          • GToon

#harrypotter is back! How come you are still up? Are you hiding your iPad under the duvet. It’s xmas soon you know Harry and Santa is always watching so get to sleep and let the grown ups have a chat.

          • Billmag

The Mag should ban that idiot never heard a squeak out of him when we were 2-0 up.

      • GToon

Why is it a silly comment? Do you really have no idea of what Tony is suggesting?
What was that noise Harry? I think it’s a monster coming to get you. Better run and hide!

        • Tony English

I was trying to be fair by quoting market values from a respected source as Mata is older and less valuable than his fee from a few years back, Sanchez was a swop so his value at the time of transfer is open to question, and Kenedy is a loan so cost a fee for his time here but nowhere near his value…but we all know his craic.

      • Big Hairy Man

Regardless of transfermarkt it is suffice to say that their players are far more valuable than ours simply because they are far better, oh yes they cost far more as well.

        • Clarko

          That is very true.

  • Danimal

This penalty we didn’t get before half time, how did it compare with the one the ref was falling over himself to give Leicester last week? I haven’t seen it.

    • Cockneytrev

      Stonewall
But they should have had one as well..
Only thing is if we’d scored its 3-0

      • Jezza

I wouldn’t worry about the penalty decision, we’d still have lost the match from 3-0 up. This is Newcastle United.

        • Ashley-out

cynical but sorry to say, true

          • BigHairyDog

Not for me, at worst 3-3, it would’ve killed their fans. The place would’ve emptied, the 3rd was the killer and to go in 3-0 at half time different, 2-0 is the old 1-0, you need 3-0 to relax in this league.

    • WildBill

Today was stonewall pen. Young moved his hand toward the ball. You can argue Yedlin was a defensive move. Both pens for me but today was outrageous. Ref didn’t even give a corner today, how he saw no deflection at all was a head scratcher.

      • Danimal

All forgotten about now. The wonderful theatre of plastic fans comeback is the big story.

    • Carverlier football

Definite pen. Didn’t even get the corner. We got away with one too but it would’ve been a different game at 3-0

      • Vodkamagpie

We got away with one too. I dislike people constantly saying it evens out at the end of day, we didn’t get one, they didn’t get one blah blah. If we get awarded the penalty, their penalty would never have occurred, the entire football match would have changed

        • Ashley-out

that was never a penalty against Newcastle. you really should know the rules

          • BigHairyDog

I think the Mancs have finally replaced Howard Webb.

          • Vodkamagpie

I wouldn’t of given the penalty, but the TV expects believe that we are wrong

    • Billmag

Worse tonight IMO when there’s a wall lined up the Ref normally tells the player’s to keep there arms down it came off his elbow and we didn’t even get a corner.

  • Cockneytrev

    The pluses ,,
Shelvey best game of the season, run the first half.
Kenesdy best game of the season.
Perez best game of the season.
Ritchie best game of the season.m
    Muto looked lively,,
Best I’ve seen us play in a long time.
    Negatives
Atsu, Murphy, Joselu,, what chance do you have with these coming off the bench?
I’ll also add Manquillo to them 3 ,,
The 4 of these should be nowhere near a premiership team,, all are weak and just not good enough,,

    • Danimal

Good manager getting the best out of a shyte squad. Sadly, it’s not going to be enough. One man (I use the term loosely) to blame.

      • Cockneytrev

I’d also add Diame needs to learn how to head a ball,, he has missed two easy chances in the last two matches , coming off his shoulder today,, absolutely terrible

        • WildBill

          Awful. Great movement, terrible headers.

          • Cockneytrev

            Exactly!!!
But it’s no good getting into the positions if you can’t head a lettuce!!!

          • BigHairyDog

I disagree about Perez, he’s so fckn frustrating. I believe he can give so much more as he showed from January to May. Diame’s just Diame, what we got from him in the last 2 seasons has repaid his fee but we’re now up against centre midfielders who have energy to burn, who can sprint for 90mins and then are as strong in the tackle in the last minute as they are in the first. Ki is another, he doesn’t have the legs anymore to get around the pitch and pressure the opposition.

          • Ron

I hear Steve Bruce could head a cabbage.

    • Billmag

Take our 3 that came off the bench, then look at the 3 they brought on miles apart unfortunately.

  • Vodkamagpie

Good performance, unlucky not to get a 3-0 lead which would of killed off man utd. One positive, rafa NOT choosing joselu to start. Playing joselu is like playing with 10 men, hopefully rafa continues muto up front until rondon returns, then muto can replace Perez.

    • Danimal

We’re relegated. Thanks to your hero Mike Ashley. Suck on that.

      • Vodkamagpie

We have a premier league squad, losing by a goal against Tottenham, Chelsea, man city, arsenal, man utd, proves my point. Credit goes to rafa for tactics, criticism goes to rafa for playing, and buying joselu.

        • Danimal

Yeah, a squad that loses by one goal on a regular basis. You’re a cretin.

          • Vodkamagpie

Nothing to be ashamed of, its premier league football. It’s not always about results, it’s about the way the team plays, seeing potential on future fixtures with the current style of play.

          • Big Hairy Man

It is about results you 🔔🔚. Not enough points = relegation. Loads of points = success.

          • Leazes.

            don’t go there… block it

          • Big Hairy Man

            Will do

          • Vodkamagpie

Our season starts now, we can win our next 10 games if rafa picks the right team

          • Kneebotherm8

Not much choice there is there?………thanks Mike……..

        • Big Hairy Man

Premier league squad my hairy @rse.

          • Ashley-out

He must be the only one in Newcastle that thinks we have a premiership team never mind squad

        • GToon

If u were given one pence in a sweet shop what would you buy other than a penny chew? Do you think Rafa had 30/40m to spend but decided on Joselu instead. Get a grip!

          • Leazes.

Do you believe trolls believe in what they’re saying…… I don’t….I block them.

          • GToon

I will chat with ppl most of time. Only person I have little time for is that fleckman who made comments about the homeless. That crosses the line for me, unlike our impregnable transfer line.

          • Vodkamagpie

Rafa didn’t need to spend 30mil for a striker, he had one the whole time, which he chose not to use

          • GToon

That is a fair point. But I think we could have improved on Gayle.

          • Vodkamagpie

I was referring to mitrovic. Rondon was Gayles replacement

  • Ba ba.

Usual toon at man u hence 20 sheets on man u to win 3,2..at.. 6/1….at half time seen is all Before.. 😉

  • Carverlier football

There’s a few people having a go but I’m not going to criticise any Newcastle player (even Manquillo). We were asking for a more attacking display – we got one. Even in the second half when we were mostly defending, when we got the ball we were looking to play it forward quickly. And we still had our chances in the second half, and if we’d got the penalty we should’ve at 3-0 I think we’d have won. It was a good effort from the lads, and hopefully we can carry that into the Brighton match. And for the first time this season I actually felt like I was invested in what was happening on the pitch. Imagine what we could do with a Premier league squad Mike…

    • Ashley-out

that is all you are going to do, imagine

    • Billmag

      Well said 👍

  • Leazes.

Must be worrying for Ashley again….
    Relegation
    Bailout
    Promotion
    Recoup bailout
    underspend
    Relegation
    etc. until he dies

Nothing left to take at the club is there….. its empty?…

……tumbleweed blowing over what is left of little Benton…. Rafa with dignity closes door on this sorry club.

    • Ashley-out

I like the dies part, soon

      • Leazes.

I think Mark Jenson must have sacked Simon Van der Velde…. its gone quiet…. shhhhh… hurrah!

      • BigHairyDog

It’s a shame Carlos the Jackal isn’t still in business.

      • Ron

Our luck, he’ll come back for the replay.

    • Carverlier football

Unfortunately the least certain step of that cycle is “promotion”…

  • Ashley-out

one day we may get a team that can play for 90 minutes.

  • Martin

Brilliant effort by Rafa and the lads. However, we will never go forward with Ashley at the club. The priority above all else has to be get him out the club. If that means relegation and even relegation again it doesn’t matter, But until he goes we cannot even start the journey back.

    • Ba ba.

      Correct 👍

    • GToon

Yep. And that’s why when I found out the result today I didn’t even get angry, cross, or anything. It’s just an inevitable part of what will happen and what needs to happen. Just like the matrix!

  • Andy Mac

Were we better in the first half because the Mancs were shlte or because Rafa has understood that sitting back often gets you nothing ?

Fatman is undoubtedly to blame for this wafer thin squad but should we be trying a little more with what we’ve got ?

Brighton game is a must win for so many reasons.

    • Jezza

Manchester turned up in the second half and it was the huge gulf in quality that did for us.

As for Brighton I think we’re already past the stage of must win games. It’s already too late, we’re already as good as down. There isn’t anywhere near enough quality in our squad to survive in this division.

      • Andy Mac

I think that’s why we must win Jezza cos if we cant beat Brighton we’re deeply in the shlte but dont get the razor blades out yet ? 🤔

        • Jezza

We’re already in too deep I fear. I just can’t see this Newcastle team beating anybody. I can genuinely see us going through the entire season without a win.

          • nufcslf

This is the feeling I get. Talking to toon fans here that want to see a light, I just can’t.

          • WildBill

Considering the fixtures to start the season how many points did you think we’d have by now? I thought we’d have 6.

          • nufcslf

Keeping the same sh*t squad that we had from last season and not spending a penny to strenthening it, I ‘m surprised we have the 2 we have got. This is a lost cause and Cashley is even showing up to watch it he is enjoying it so much. Sod the fixtures, be prepaired is what I think I am saying. Going down.

          • WildBill

I’d be inclined to agree about going down, but the start of the season was predictable, there was five nailed on defeats in the first 8 games for me. Most of the bottom.half would have lost those games, it’s not beating the likes of Cardiff or getting anything at home vs Leicester that kills us. I for one wasn’t surprised losing this one, even at 2-0 70th minute I was hoping to hang on for a draw. This is our life..

          • Andy Mac

Cardiff should have been 3 and Palace a point. So we’re 2 points adrift of where we should be ? As you say its the shlte teams around us we need to beat starting with Brighton.

However as Dillon said we’re still only living hand to mouth because the Fatman has chosen to take money out of the club to reduce his so called “loan” just in case a bid comes along ? He’s the cancer that needs to be eradicated asap

          • WildBill

            Agreed

      • Dillon Tovak

Whilst I fear you’re right, as our squad is so unbelievably weak, as Rafa said this week none of the teams in the bottom 3 this time last year were relegated.

But then again, whenever I fear about relegation I ask myself why do I care?
Am I enjoying being in the premier league, not being given the same tools to compete as every other team?
        No, it’s 100% unenjoyment.
        ASHLEY OUT!

  • Ron

I’ve had to work but I logged in to see the score at 68 minutes – happily surprised 2-0 to us. Just logged back in to catch the final score sadly surprised again. 22 minutes to go 2-0 up where was the bus??

    • Dillon Tovak

The same fate as the final episode of The young ones.

      • Ron

Alas – I’ve never watched them but I can guess what you mean!

  • Danimal

Watching MOTD. Expecting to see the ‘no penalty’ incident. Nope.

    • Danimal

It was made clearer afterwards. Roles reversed, penalty would have been given.

      • Leazes.

We don’t get penalties, and Rafa gets a £60,000 fine for saying he has every faith in a biased ref…..

        …VAR doesn’t pick it up.

  • ToonTom

It just doesn’t matter – whether we got 3 points tonight or 1 or 0. It just doesn’t matter if we avoud relegation, it really doesn’t. Until Cashley has gone from our club, it will be like this forever. Purgatory. Endless sitting on the cusp of relegation, whether we fall over it or not. He has to go or we have to implode to make him go.

    • Jezza

Yes a win today wouldn’t have changed anything. We’d all have gone to bed happy but in the morning the same big fat dark shadow would still have been hanging over us.

      • Kneebotherm8

Short mid and long term……..he needs to go if this club is to progress…..

      • Tweed Mag

He is a gambler and a result would have justified the way he works – but in his mind only. A win against Brighton will mean very little.

  • Danimal

Guy Mowbray, ex Mackem commentator on Metro, wetting his pants over Man Utd. Sycophantic tw4t.

    • WildBill

Man United are going nowhere. Jose will be sacked by Christmas at the latest. Gushing because they beat the Toon? FFS.

    • Jezza

Typical BBC. They love Manchester FC. Even in the post match analysis involving Shearer they only talked about one team.

      • Leazes.

Shearer referred to ‘United’ and that was a puzzler as I call United United and not Newcastle but Manchester United are Manchester United and not simply ‘United’;…. see what i mean!

        • Jezza

I know exactly what you mean. Today’s match was between United and Manchester FC.

          • Leazes.

No mention of United’s problems… the owners V’s and lies …. just nothing same as Football Focus…. and the ‘Real Football Fans Show’ (which appears to be London supporters only)

Shearer giggling as the club sinks again… we are just blanked out.

          • Jezza

That’s right. There was barely any mention whatsoever of “NEW-carsel” in the post match analysis.

        • Ron

There’s only one United and they call us Newcastle…..

          • Leazes.

            I find it insulting.

        • Phil Yare

i cant stand that, its an insult to toon fans

      • Billmag

Even if we had won the game they would have talked more about them than us especially the crisp man.

  • Leazes.

Meanwhile in Chronicle land ….’The big positive Newcastle United can take from Old Trafford’…..,

    …..isn’t points!

    Idiots!

  • Phil Yare

man utd are a repulsive club, we have a repulsive owner but at least we don’t rely on propaganda and cheating

    • Jezza

True. You just knew yesterday that as soon as it was back to 2-2 the referee would keep the game going for as long as it took for Manchester FC to get the winning goal.

  • Kenny

What was the defence up to letting a dwarf head a goal in.
