The Newcastle team v Southampton has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez looking to get his first victory of the season.

Salomon Rondon has been passed fit and is back in the squad but not the team.

Not the biggest surprise, both because he may not be fully fit and Rafa tending not to throw previously injured players straight back into the team as starters.

At least we have that option on the bench that could potentially improve the team.

Ki comes in from the cold amongst the subs after being ignored for even bench duties in recent matches.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with:

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett, Kenedy, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Muto, Perez

and the Subs:

Darlow, Manquillo, Schar, Atsu, Ki, Rondon, Joselu

Compare Rafa’s selection to the preferred fan option HERE

  • Kenny

Rondon is fit so why isn`t he starting. 2 midgets up front, i hope there`s no breeze for Perez`s sake

    • Leazes.

Because you need something on the bench as well.

      • Toontaff

        We have The Hoss!

        • Leazes.

Yes that’s our plan ‘b’ secret weapon….. unfortunately.

          • Toontaff

            He’s deceptive – he’s worse/slower than he looks!

          • Dillon Tovak

Joselus proven he’s pretty decent with his head, luckily for us we’re constantly pumping in crosses! Oh no, we just fire it at his feet and the ball canons towards the opposition.

          • Kenny

            total football Dillon, total football
            😂😂

    • Polarboy

You were already told in the article. Rafa doesn’t risk players starting when they’ve just come back from injury. Better that he’s fit and able to start long term than for him to possibly be in and out with niggles by being rushed.

      • Toontaff

I don’t think any of our players are rushed, these days!

        • Polarboy

As I was implying in my other comment that wasn’t a reply, the fact that we have so little competition for places is incredibly harmful. I don’t think it’s a malicious lack of effort, but again if you don’t have someone breathing down your neck, your best form can be hard to get to.

    • Billmag

      😀😀😀

    • Peaky

Even Muto farting will blow him over…

      • Kenny

        😂

  • Polarboy

We really need Ki to get fully fit, if he isn’t actually past it as some have postulated. Diame having nobody who can come in for him is a disaster. Maybe his form would be sh*te in any case, but again he really needs some competition just in case it would help. If you look at how many positions where we have no competition it’s little wonder how bad we’ve been. We have a few decent players, but there aren’t many worse squads in the league than ours.

  • Colin Brumwell

Its harder to get out of this team than it is to get in

    • Leazes.

      They should join the protest.

      • Peaky

        Like literally boycott Wolves…..no Rafa,no team,nobody…..

        • Kenny

Except the 52,000 who will watch the grass grow for 90mins

          • Peaky

            Sadly,you’re right……

          • Kenny

I know, off to watch the match, Glenmorangie at the ready.

    • Peaky

      🤣😂🤣👏👏👏 Love it…

  • Peaky

    Don’t worry lads…3-0 win…..Perez hatrick……according to Madmonk Moscow ??? 😂🤣

    • JohnnyH

Don’t know what f&ckn planet he’s on, coz this is absolute $hyte

  • Rev

I’m with Shola, if you dont get people in the box, youre not going to score goals. Sorry lads, sooner or later you are going to have to accept that Ashley and Rafa are taking the club down and we are going to have to rebuild without both. You might want to turn up for 0-0 against Real Madrid, you dont want to turn up every week thinking its the best we can hope for against Brighton, Huddersfield, Forrest etc. There isnt Geordie Abramovich or a pot of gold coming anytime soon. We are going to have to start frim scratch and hope someone can lift this club again.

    • nufcslf

Cashley is the only piece of sh*t that has caused all this present cock-up. It has taken far too long to show the truth of 12 years of this fat c**t.

  • Leazes.

    #BoycottWolves

    • nufcslf

      If only.

  • Dillon Tovak

Perez is a striker who’s scared to shoot.
I genuinely almost threw my glasses at the wall in frustration a minute ago.

  • Kenny

Shocking, can’t string 2 passes together

  • JohnnyH

Games like these you look at the bench for later in the game…………….maybe not

  • Tino o

    Is it full time yet?

  • Peaky

Different note but thoughts to Glenn Hoddle……seriously ill in hospital……great player to watch when I was growing up.

    • WildBill

      Certainly. Best wishes to Glenn.

    • Billmag

      Here here Peaky.

    • nufcslf

Not good. He can’t be that old. Hope he gets well soon.

      • Peaky

61…..collapsed just before he was due on BT Sport at lunchtime…great player..

        • nufcslf

That’s awful. Loved that goal he got where the ball never touched the ground from the keeper and he finished it with a great volley. To think Emlyn Hughes kept him out of the England side. Some things never change.

  • Tino o

These are as bad as us not quite as bad nearly!

  • Coach Clagnut

On the bright side, at least were not going in at half-time 2 up. That would have been a worry.

  • Andy Mac

    “ATM the table doesn’t lie”

  • Kenny

Might as well have Leazes & Jezza
    up front

    • Peaky

They could stick Madmonk Moscow on for the last 20 mins….he’s there apparently….

      • Kenny

the Fat Rat is there again.

        • Peaky

Just read that on Ronnie….don’t know what the hell he’s trying to prove…

          • Kenny

PR. trying to look like a proper owner

      • Billmag

        Unfortunately there’s a newsflash he’s stuck in a lift.

  • Peaky

Load of 💩….they haven’t turned the clocks back already down there have they ????

    • Kenny

games krap, 2 very poor teams

    • Dillon Tovak

I think on that part of the south coast the clocks are set back all the way to the 1970’s.

      • Kenny

Pity its not the 90`s we`d be 5 up

        • Peaky

          Till Le Tissier comes on….😳😳

          • Mxpx

Nah its fine he’ll show up at the dell not St Mary’s

        • Dillon Tovak

Or more likely sunk by a le tiss screamer

Pipped me to it peaky 😂

          • Peaky

😂🤣😂 took the words right out of my keyboard….

  • Billmag

Well that was riveting wasn’t it.

  • Leicester Mag

Football Jim but not as we know it

    • Tino o

Ha ha it is we’ve been playing like this for years

  • Kenny

48 mins gone, not 1 shot on target.

    • Peaky

We’d be already beaten if not for Dubravka…..he’ll be off in the summer if not January…

      • Kenny

        who could blame him

  • kingfisher

Quote from Jermaine Jenas on Football Focus:
“To see how Newcastle are as a football club is bordering on depressing.

I can’t see a future. All I see is clinging on and survival and that’s not what Newcastle are about. Rafa Benitez has not been given the tools. It’s not good enough.”
Not much more to say except : Take note the 50,000

      – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €67.70m vs Brighton’s starting eleven cost €48.75m (fees for Kayal and Stephens undisclosed)

      – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €55.50m vs Cardiff’s starting eleven cost €21.44m (fee for Zohore undisclosed)

      – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €45.40m vs Nottingham Forest’s starting eleven cost €18.73m (fee for Lolley undisclosed)

      • Big Hairy Man

What’s with the Euros? The last time I checked the monetary unit of the UK was pound Sterling.

        • Clarko

Because that’s the currency that the database transfermarkt uses. Why is using euros such a big deal? The last time I checked using euros doesn’t change the fact that Benitez has been given to tools to beat Brighton, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest.

          • Big Hairy Man

He’s been deprived of the tools to beat almost anyone. Fatty’s zero net spend policy has seen to that.

          • MrShack66

            Cacko doesn’t do “net” spending.

          • 45709

            Or coherent thoughts

          • Clarko

            – So you don’t have a problem with the use of euros then?

            – We have a net spend of €60.89m under Ashley, not ‘zero’.

            – Net spend doesn’t tell you how much Benitez has spent. Benitez has been allowed to spend €142.65m on players since his appointment. What do we have to show for it?

            – He was given the tools to beat Brighton, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest and failed.

          • 45709

So in real money less than £100 million in 3 years vs at least a 100 million in a season for one team.

Makes sense, guess I’m a dummy that can’t read and needs an education

          • Clarko

No, that’s wrong (minus the dummy/illiterate part):

            – €142.65m in 2.63 years (or 5 transfer windows)

            – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €67.70m vs Brighton’s starting eleven cost €48.75m (fees for Kayal and Stephens undisclosed)

            – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €55.50m vs Cardiff’s starting eleven cost €21.44m (fee for Zohore undisclosed)

            – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €45.40m vs Nottingham Forest’s starting eleven cost €18.73m (fee for Lolley undisclosed)

          • 45709

Brighton have spent over £100 million this season.

You are not a fan just someone that just is here to troll and not even in a smart way

You could be an MP as you avoid everything and start your posts with jibberish no one cares about. Then reiterate

          • Clarko

            – Brighton haven’t spent ‘over £100 million this season’, they have spent €69.90m, you are massively uninformed, you don’t know what you’re talking about

            – Newcastle’s starting eleven cost €67.70m vs Brighton’s starting eleven cost €48.75m (fees for Kayal and Stephens undisclosed)

          • 45709

            Lol

Just been on the transfermarkrtcouk interestingly it’s all in £ so why € unless you want to skew figures with fluctuations especially with brexit?

Google Brighton’s spend this season, guess everyone is a liar, you’ve obviously got insider knowledge

I suppose if nufc bought a piece of art at 100 million, put it in the net and said that’s are keeper we’d have the tools to win cause of the cost of our line up

I enjoy the back and forth with you cause it repeatedly shows how great my life is

          • Clarko

The pounds figures on the UK version of the sight are not accurate, they are converted from euros using current exchange rates, meaning the transfer fees listed in pounds constantly change. For example we didn’t pay £18.00m for Wijnaldum like the UK version suggests, we paid €20.00m which works out as ~£14.10m (using an exchange rate of 0.7051 provided by poundsterlinglive for July 2015). Like I said, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Go and check transfermarkt, you’ll find that Brighton spent €69.90m. You were wrong.

‘I suppose if nufc bought a piece of art at 100 million, put it in the net and said that’s are keeper we’d have the tools to win cause of the cost of our line up’

That does sound like something Benitez would do and something which dummies like you would praise him for.

          • 45709

            Currency’s fluctuate both ways

I did check the “transfermarkt” was in sterling

Tell me a good NUFC Manager the club has had then

As an electrician that moved into project management etc… just because someone spends more on something doesn’t mean the cheaper version is sub par. Often quality is down to it been unknown

          • Clarko

Seriously, your ability to read and understand what you’re reading is so poor.

‘Currency’s fluctuate both ways’ – What does that have to do with what I said?

‘I did check the “transfermarkt” was in sterling’ – And as I said in my previous comment, those values are wrong…

‘As an electrician that moved into project management etc… just because someone spends more on something doesn’t mean the cheaper version is sub par. Often quality is down to it been unknown’ – Again, completely irrelevant to the conversation…

          • 45709

You’re saying on the pound can go down but the euro is always correct. That’s how it reads, so for a dummy like me break it down explain it to a layman

It’s not irrelevant, if something at 10 quid is better than something at 100 quid it’s important. Unless you need to have a bigger spend and a name attached

          • Clarko

Because the site stores the value in euro, the euro value always remains constant, that euro value is then converted to pound using current exchange rates.

It’s irrelevant to the conversation. I have no idea what you’re referencing because it’s so irrelevant. This conversation was about spend, transfermarkt and your lack of knowledge on both of those subjects, this was not a conversation about ‘quality’, ‘project management’ or you being an ‘electrician’…

          • 45709

That’s good the euro is constant, it means then that it’s a euro for a coke then cause when I was traveling there for work ten years ago it’s still the same. That’s great

It’s called a metaphor you freak

Anyway you’ve still not named a nufc manager you rate

          • Clarko

And there we go, point proven, you had no idea what you were talking about.

A (really stupid) metaphor that was irrelevant to the conversation you complete f*****g moron.

          • 45709

Hahaha, point proven you can’t name a nufc manager

Point proven you don’t follow conversation

Point proven you don’t know what a metaphor is

Point proven you don’t understand quality does not equate to money spent

            Point proven you’re a 🔔 🔚

Made my night this hahaha 😂👍

          • Big Hairy Man

Benítez has had negative net spend since his arrival.

          • Clarko

Benitez has spent €142.65m on players since his arrival.

        • 45709

By his reasoning the money a player is worth the better they are. So (couldn’t find a GBP calculator) $1.75 million is worth $3million today. Which surely means Andy Cole would be worse than our current strikers today. I mean I’m trying to think like I’m mental😂

      • Mickey Slater

        yawn ,yawn ,yawn ,yawn.

        • Clarko

What’s wrong? Do you not like facts?

  • ToonTom

As much as I’d love to see the CB gone from our club, and as much as I feel relegation might do it, the reality is that that is just too dangerous a path. It’s really hard to wish it, or even just accept it as an inevitable byproduct of poor investment over a long period of time.
So I’m clinging on to hope – and that requires us only to come top or second top of a five-team mini-league:
    16th: Newcastle
    17th: Southampton
    18th: Fulham
    19th: Huddersfield
    20th: Cardiff
Not much to hope for really with just 9.5 games gone so far this season.

  • Coach Clagnut

Top of the league for inflicting suffering:No contest.

  • nufcslf

Certainly doesn’t look like two desprrate football teams that desperately need a win. It almost like watching a match that I don’t support either side. Pathetic.

where`s Clarko, how many points will we get over 38

  • Leicester Mag

What is the point of this? Zero football, zero entertainment, zero ambition. Utterly pointless a total 💩🌧

    • nufcslf

Not that anything will change, but Cashley’s running of the club is finally there for all to see. You just cannot support this sh*t with your heart. Very sad.

      • Leicester Mag

Couldn’t support this with your back passage. Utter garbage, this is worse than the 70s

        • ToonTom

The vast majority of the 1970s were actually very entertaining for Newcastle fans. From 1971-1977, St James thrilled to the exploits of SuperMac and co. (or did we sell him in 1976?). The 4-3 ‘non-game’ against Forest in the Cup – ironically – remains the greatest Newcastle game I ever attended. So we lost a couple of Cup Finals? Who cares? At least we were in them. The players’ revolt of 1977 which brought a schoolteacher in who had managed the B Team for Form 3c ended the 70s early for us, but never let it be said it wasn’t a joy to go to the match in the years before that.

          • Leicester Mag

Fair point my perspective largely started as a 10yr old in 1977. I swear though Hos and Perez are no better than Shinton and Shoulder

  • Kenny

10 games in and both teams had their flip flops on. no passion, no nothing

  • robbersdog

Awful performance, but an away draw isn’t the end of the world. We’re no longer bottom of the league, so we’re better off than we were a couple of hours ago.

The best way to view the current shitshow is to cling on to the fact that we only need to be a couple of places higher in the league at the end of the season. That’s the best we can look forward to; it’s not great, is it?

    • Kenny

      Like that every year

    • nufcslf

Not if you can’t add the odd home win to go with it.

  • MrShack66

Benítez should just go. Not that I want him to. It’s just he’s too good for this toxic club. What a waste of greatness.

    • Kenny

True enough but he has a penalty clause

  • David2211

I spent my afternoon playing Red Dead Redemption 2 instead. I’m happy with that. What am waste of time that match must have been.

    • Wezza

Lucky you! I wish I had done the same!

  • Peaky

We should all be grateful and thankful for small mercies…..at least we don’t have to sit on a train for hours from Southampton listening to Moscow Mule talking fuckingbollox…..

  • Wezza

I’m hearing a mate who saw him on the big screen and thats where the FCB looked and did another V sign!
This is the owner’s behaviour and yet again sticking it to our travelling fans.

It was defo another one on purpose. He was looking to his left and did it then the camera cut away. I found out the big screen was the direction he was looking so he obviously saw himself on the screen. This should be viral but not many people will have seen it! I’d love to see the KBA spin it but they’ll ignore it.

      • Billmag

I must have nodded off because I missed that.

  • Tino o

    We’re not bottom 😂

    • Wezza

Yep, no need to panic buy in January now then.

      • Tino o

Definitely not we’re doing fine 😂

  • Leicester Mag

The only thing that might save us is 3 of the 💩ist teams in prem league history Cardiff / Huddersfield and Fulham. Pathetic

    • Kenny

Next 2 opponents both won today, is there any light at the end of the tunnel

      • Peaky

Sad but true that Watford & Bournemouth are now games we will struggle in…

        • Kenny

As Leicester says we have to rely on 3 teams more shyte than we are

        • HarryHype59

Both are now above us in the EPL hierarchy.

        • Billmag

Who would have thought it little Bournemouth and Watford streets in front of us.

          • Andy Mac

Little Bournemouth and Watford spend money on their squads rather than siphoning off the profits ?

          • Billmag

True but pre Ashley they where in no man’s land just shows how far we’ve deteriorated.

  • Kenny

Rafa says we worked hard & got an away point, we need to stand firm until
Messi & CR7 arrive in January.
Mike has assured me that i can have every penny the club has.

    • nufcslf

The words that just guarnteed a full house for the next home match…….Bring on the sheep……All very sad and a shame it has to be joked about.

      • oompalumpa

    • oompalumpa

If you are travelling back from Southampton why not use your time productively whilst getting drunk and tweet as many journalists as you can….,, or buy a million pairs of trainers….

    • Kenny

      😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    • Peaky

      Can’t or not allowed to say C H A N G E….D O T…..O R G……on here….???

  • Andy Mac

A few plus points. We’re no longer rock bottom, a clean sheet albeit against shot shy Saints (try saying that with no teeth) and Fulham looking like they could be the third team (unless they sack Jok and bring in Zidane) with HTFC and Neil’s boys ?

Personally I’m not bothered cos I see a win-win if we stay up or go down but I know a lot of you prefer to stay in the top league even though we’re utterly unsuited for it !
