The Newcastle team v Brighton has just been confirmed.

Rafa Benitez looking to get his first victory of the season.

Paul Dummett returning to the side as the only change.

Muto shaking off an ankle knock to start.

Yedlin starts despite being the last one back from international duty.

Fair to say, not great options on the bench if things go wrong today.

This is who Rafa Benitez starts with:

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett, Kenedy, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Muto, Perez

and the Subs:

Darlow, Manquillo, Schar, Hayden, Murphy, Atsu, Joselu

  • Wezza

The FCB is there and as yet I haven’t heard any chants against him. It’s almost as if the crowd likes what he has done to us.

    • kingfisher

      They’ve all been chipped !

    • Ashley-out

      sheep

  • Leicester Mag

Oh well hear we go again 0-1

  • mentalman

What do we expect when our striker is that deep

  • Ashley-out

the fans should empty St James at half time,

    • Wezza

They should but won’t. We look so flat.

  • mentalman

Bong and Bruno are woeful defenders, why aren’t we running at them

  • Peaky

If by any chance Villanelle is at SJP could someone point her in the direction of Fatso & his minions….

  • DC1964

We have had the chances to be winning this!

    • Ashley-out

but we dont and thats the problem

  • Wezza

Just doesn’t look like it is going to be our day.
Shame we don’t have that 25M striker on the bench.

  • Ashley-out

would any other fans in the premiership put up with this rubbish

    • Wezza

I’m just flabbergasted how this crowd hasn’t even chanted about Ashley. Like I say its as if they enjoy being treated this way.

      • nufcslf

That makes me sick to the stomach. Sheep the lot of them.

    • mentalman

      Rubbish investment
      Rubbish game plan
      Rubbish execution

What have we done to deserve this

  • mentalman

No need to worry Atsu will be on soon to do his invisible man act

  • mentalman

Lost count how many times Brighton players have been allowed to pull our players back

  • HarryHype59

If only the Fat Miser had allowed Rafa to bring in a £30m striker in the summer! Brighton are there for the taking, but Newcastle don’t have the quality up front.

    • mentalman

We aren’t getting the ball to muto or Perez’ feet, for all of our pressure we need to get it into a position for the strikers to have a shot

      • HarryHype59

It sounds like an attack v defence game on the radio. All that pressure yet their keeper has barely made a save!

        To paraphrase the old Depeche Mode song;

        “We’re just not good enough”

Cardiff are winning 3:2 oh fu*k!

        • mentalman

Its a training session for their cb’s to practise how to defend crosses against players a foot shorter than themselves

          • HarryHype59

It sounds that way, so why is the team playing with those tactics?

          • mentalman

Im assuming they are doing what they have been told to do

      • nufcslf

Perez has missed two clear chances he has missed. One in each half

    • Duh

He’s getting what he deserves, an asset worth half of what it was at the end of the season

      • Danimal

Unfortunately he will probably do what Ellis Short did. Sell for less and keep the tv money and the parachute money.

      • Duh

Camera just panned on him, I think it’s dawned on him

      • HarryHype59

        Looks that way!

It is staggering to think Brighton have spent £100m since promotion with NUFC.

        #Where’sthemoneygone?

        • mentalman

I know its hard to see where they have spent 100 million

          • HarryHype59

It doesn’t matter if they haven’t got great value! Their board has backed Houghton. Fatty has simply siphoned money out of our club!

Brighton will finish above NUF C this season.

          • mentalman

Rafa’s replacement will turn things round

          • HarryHype59

            😊😊😀😁

          • ToonTom

At the minute, it looks like everyone will finish above us this season.

          • Danimal

            11 points vs 2 points.

  • nufcslf

Mutu and Perez are total waste of time. Comforting knowing Joselu is the obvious replacement. No goals from forwards guranteed today then. Joke.

  • ToonTom

I’m just looking at the stats. We’ve had 21 attempts on goal (to Brighton’s 4) with just 4 on target (to Brighton’s 1) and no goals scored (to Brighton’s 1). This is the crux of the issue. If you can’t do more with 21 attempts (and 20-odd minutes still to play to have more), then you clearly shouldn’t expect your team to stay up. When will the CB get it?

    • Wezza

He isn’t bothered though. He has made enough money out of us now so even if we go down he will sell for peanuts and still make a massive profit.

      • nufcslf

Exactly. He doesn’t have to give sh*t and makes money hand over fist. Shame on the sheep in the ground for not making the fat c**ts life a misery for 90 mins.

        • Wezza

          Not one FCB chant sofar.

  • Wezza

Have to be using some subs now Rafa.

  • Andy Mac

I’m reading plenty of empty seats ! Any idea of numbers missing ?

    • mentalman

      Just over a 50k attendance

    • Wezza

Crowd of 50,300 – I can see lots of empty seats I think it may be the attendance with season ticket holders included that have not gone.

      • Andy Mac

Yup that’s the Gooners favourite trick 🤔

    • nufcslf

Nowhere near enough. Should be empty.

  • Peaky

Tap…tap…tap…..first nails of the coffin going in….

    • mentalman

There’s quite a few nails going in

    • Dillon Tovak

      Think you meant final

      • Peaky

Yep…with the brass plaque in place….HERE LIES NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB…..GOD REST ITS SOUL…

  • Wezza

Insanity. Cross, cleared, cross, cleared, crossed, cleared. Same thing over and over.

  • Andy Mac

Cardiff winning means we’ve finally made it to rock bottom

    • Wezza

      Yep. Rock bottom.

    • DC1964

Yep, just looked at the table, not nice!

    • nufcslf

Just as well tge season started away to Crysral Palace………

  • Peaky

Won’t hit 10 points with this pile of shyte….appalling…

    • nufcslf

I honestly don’t understand how a full ground find anything worth suppirting until fatty is forced to leave. This just won’t effect my weekend at all. Will simply turn it off at the end like it didn’t happen. I said 3 nil, but 1 is more than enough against such a sh*t side.

  • Wezza

Have to say why hasn’t Rafa made all 3 subs by now.

  • Peaky

Let’s see what positive spin that dafttwat from Monkseaton puts on this…..

    • Wezza

Even he can’t take any positive from this. He will probably call for Rafa’s head yet we finished 10th. Not Ashleys fault etc etc.

    • nufcslf

      Possession, likely

    • mentalman

Good stats apart from the all important goals one

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

I give up. It’s not even worth it to care about this side on message boards anymore.

    • Wezza

Totally agree. Our club is dead.

    • Peaky

Yes,I said on here the other day I’m now past caring….more important things in life than this rubbish….

      • Danimal

Yep, won’t be letting it spoil my evening. Not even the first pint.

  • mentalman

My stream froze did i miss our second and third subs coming on?

    • Danimal

We probably haven’t got any more, the squad is that thin.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

Newcastle look about as likely to score a goal as I do to score with Meghan Markle

  • Ashley-out

fatso wont worry, next home match 50,000 plus

    • nufcslf

Always. Can’t even be bothered to get mad when fatty’s ugly mug is put on the telly anymore knowing it will be there at the next match like nothing is wrong.

  • Wezza

Please guys, anyone thinking the FCB will invest in January.
    HE WON’T!
He didn’t in the summer and he won’t in January.
    STOP GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mentalman

Odds for rafa getting the sack have just been slashed

    • Peaky

Would be very surprised if he survives this tbh….

      • Ashley-out

Rafa will be a happy man if he is sacked, get out from under the pile of krap

      • nufcslf

I wouldn’t have stayed long enough to give the fat barsteward the chance to sack me. I would have walked and made it very obvious why in the media to put this [email protected] in his place.

    • Danimal

Yeah, how did he miss all those chances today?

      • DC1964

That should have been our first win of the season, sad times!

        • Danimal

          Sad but inevitable.

  • Mrkgw

Rafa needs to go. Enough is enough.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

not pep, nor klopp nor the ghost of Sir Bobby himself could keep this shambles up. it doesn’t matter who is steering the ship if the crew isn’t up to the task…

      • DC1964

        Totally agree

      • Marveauxless

It’s the same side that finished 10th last season + Rondon, Muto and Fernandez. Yes we’ve improved less than the teams around us and are therefore in a worse position than last season relative to the teams around us but the current side is better than some of the sides at the end of the Pardew/Carver era. Who knows, maybe if he kept Mitrovic (whom has only been outscored by Hazard and Aguero so far this season) then maybe we would be in a better position, maybe all of those crosses and long balls we played today would have had someone on the end of them

        • glassjawsh-got-banned

dumb. and wrong. last season was the product of an underfunded side playing way above their heads. so far this year we’ve regressed back to the mean. you can’t count on a side playing so far above themselves year in and year out. sooner or later you have to bring in actual talent or this is exactly what ends up happening.

          • nufcslf

And only in patches to boot.

        • nufcslf

Are you off your f**king trolly? Wake up and see the truth. If you’re having difficulty with. Fat Mike is taking the pysh and has been for 11+ years.

        • gordon

It’s the same side that finished six points above relegation and stood still while everybody else spent fortunes ensuring they had players on the bench who cost more than our record signing over 10 years ago. Who knows maybe if he’d been allowed to spend the Mitrovic money on a replacement all of those crosses might have had somebody on the end of them. Jesus fecking christ

          • Marveauxless

We finished 11 points above Swansea in 18th last season, closer to the European places than the relegation zone. and we are far from the worst side in the league on paper. Yes, I completely agree Mike Ashley is the primary culprit for our current situation. I also accept that the calibre of sides we’ve played in the first 8 games are far greater than the league average. I disagree that literally no-one could keep Newcastle up this season
Why would you choose to sell a striker that scored 9 goals in 34 games for a relegated side at 21 years of age? A player that showed remarkable form and improvement on his 2015/16 level on loan at Fulham and in the World Cup? He chose to sell as surefire of a proven Premier League striker as one could possibly expect to have at this level.

      • Mrkgw

Fair point and its an utter shambles. But, what is to lose? After all, Rafa won’t extend his time at the club and will walk at some point regardless.

    • Dillon Tovak

I’ve got a sore neck, I’ll cut off my head?

      • Mrkgw

Don’t do that – but, a change of approach is needed. Rafa has a colder approach of management and for me, has lost the players. He is out of ideas. Others have gone for far, far less at the end of the day.

        • Billmag

Don’t know what else he could do 27 attempts, 6 on target to there 1,

          • Mrkgw

Bill – have it on good authority that he doesn’t favour English players and his ice-like approach is evident. The state of things is startling albeit, MA has played an overwhelming part in that. But, we could have done with Gayle and wait for it……..our mate Mitro! Joselu should be nowhere near the club.

          • Billmag

Well Fulham got stuffed off Cardiff today and Mitro was nowhere to be seen, and nearly everyone that posts on here said Gayle was a Championship player at best, agree about Jos but if Rondon was fit he wouldn’t be anywhere near the first eleven.

        • Dillon Tovak

At half time they played an interview with Lascelles and he said the best thing we can do is secure Rafa, doesn’t sound like the words of someone witnessing a manager who’s lost the squad.

          • Mrkgw

On that basis then the least that Rafa can do is to commit. But, everything is left hanging, including the players. Its a mess Dillon – good and proper.

          • Tomb

Good manager but not getting the best out of a full team of internationals at present

          • nufcslf

You’re joking though!!!. Most of this sqaud isn’t good enough for the prem. Wasn’t too many of this lot missing on the last international break. Cashley has got what he deserves along with all of the other none football minded morons that follow Sports Direct United. Fancy thinking making a profit in the summer instead of stengthening a sh*t squad…that was lucky to finish tenth, putting another f**king £124m in the fat c**ts pocket to boot…with such a hard start to the season that everything was going to be all under control. Have a look at the league table, if I’m beeing awkward in any way.

    • MrShack66

Yup I’d walk if I was him too. Although I’m guessing you think fattys doing a great job and Rafa can’t take our magnificent squad any further.

      • Mrkgw

No, Ashley needs to be ousted – that won’t change. But, I’m now convinced thst Rafa has lost confidence of the dressing room. The players look lost. Something has to give. He won’t understandably extend his contract and that is having a knock on effect on a number of fronts meaning that his position is untenable. For me, he is finished now. 100%

        • Tomb

Worst start since 1800s. Has to take a share of the blame but the mag wont have it

  • Coach Clagnut

    Anyone give a shyt anymore?

    • Ashley-out

      no

    • mentalman

Stopped getting bothered by a loss a while ago

    • Leicester Mag

Enough to not be so blind as to mindlessly turn up to watch this $£it

      • oompalumpa

Well said but they won’t change

    • GToon

I do. I got genuinely angry that they didn’t score a second as I’d said it would be 0-2 to all my mates with them getting the second in the last few minutes.

    • nufcslf

      Not at all.

    • oompalumpa

Nahhh why would you 50000+ sheep feed the FCB

  • Clarko

    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafa,
    Rafael,
    Rafael Benitez…

    • Danimal

We did all warn you over a year ago Clarko. The players your hero allows us to buy/loan are nowhere near good enough for this league. Last year was a huge overachiement (thanks to Rafa and the players). Now we are seeing the reality. Doubt you ever will, mind.

      • MadMag83

He doesn’t know what reality is.

      • Clarko

Today Newcastle’s staring eleven cost €67.70m, Brighton’s cost €48.75m (fees for Kayal and Stephens undisclosed)…

        • 45709

It’s England/UK so it’s GBP £ not EU €. You may as well put NUFC line up cost 100 vests to Brighton’s 30 washing lines

          • Clarko

            1) Newcastle’s starting eleven cost more than Brighton’s, changing the currency to £ isn’t going to change that…

            2) I have no idea what you’re talking about…

          • 45709

Changing the currency doesn’t effect cost, so why use euros?

I have no idea why you talking about euros so….

          • Clarko

Because that’s the currency which the database (transfermarkt) uses dummy…

Why do you have such a problem with me using euros? Like I said, it doesn’t change the argument does it?

          • 45709

            Name calling, nice 👍

I don’t have a problem personally with you using euros I would anyone, does the mls also use euros then?

          • Clarko

Again, I don’t know what that means. Seriously, go and get an education.

          • 45709

Get an education? Wow! You said: the transfer market is all done in euros. So I am asking you is that what the MLS also uses? I find it hard to believe the USA would use euros over the dollar, hence why you should use the pound when referring to uk.

Also you haven’t explained or answered what you mean by NUFC’s lineup costing more than Brighton

If you are gonna troll, be smart about it, don’t resort to name calling and insults, it wouldn’t even take a lot of effort. So on this your work is ungradeable.

          • Clarko

I never said ‘the transfer market is all done in euros’… You can’t read, like I said go and get an education you dummy.

          • 45709

To quote you: “Because that’s the currency which the database (transfermarkt) uses dummy…”

So “the transfer market” that would include MLS (USA dollars), Japan (¥ yen, and every league in every country and currency…. so… they all use the euro as per your words… still you call me a dummy and to get an education

Let me point something out: I am 45709, if you knew what that meant or could even comprehend what that is you would bow before 45709, tremble. Instead you are incapable of coherent thought, cannot assemble an argument on a website, when you crumble and turn to dust I shall (and 45709 have seen this) still be. Know this: you will always beneath me

          • Clarko

            Keywords being ‘database’ and ‘transfermarkt’…

            Not ‘the transfer market’…

            Learn to read dumb dumb.

          • 45709

Lol, yeah I know you put that and again you’ve reiterated it so…. hahaha

Just points out that if you need to reference the eu you here to troll especially what you regard the transfer market… oops Markt

Still at leat you are a nufc fan… oh!

          • Clarko

Yeah, you still don’t get it…

            Try googling ‘transfermarkt’ dummy…

          • 45709

            Lol

            You don’t get it

            Try googling nufc fan
(Side Note/question how many times you insulted me to me insulting you?….)

          • Clarko

And there we go, a swift change of subject after you realise just how stupid you are/have been…

          • 45709

Haha where’s the change of subject?

I am saying as an English man euros mean nothing to me, you keep putting euros and still avoiding what I ask

Repeatedly you say I’m dumb and should get an education. Again if that’s the case why be nasty? Offer me insight, educate me? Not once have I insulted you!

If you are a nufc fan tell me/all of us why you post what you do

No doubt your response will be insightful….

          • Clarko

What do you mean where’s the change in subject? I’ve been talking about the website ‘transfermarkt’ for the entire conversation while you’ve been talking about the actual ‘transfer market’, the ‘MLS’ and ‘Japan’ all because you can’t read. As soon as you realised just how stupid you had been you tried to change the subject:

‘Lol You don’t get it Try googling nufc fan (Side Note/question how many times you insulted me to me insulting you?….)’

No mention of any ‘transfermarkt’ or ‘transfer market’ in that comment was there? Change. Of. Subject.

I haven’t avoided any (relevant) question what you have asked. I’ve told you, I use euros because that’s what the database/website ‘transfermarkt’ uses.

I did try to offer you insight, you were incapable of consuming that insight, it’s hard to educate someone who can’t read. Like I’ve said many times, go and get an education, then we’ll be able to have a discussion.

If you don’t like or agree with what I post why don’t you try and challenge my views, reasoning and logic instead of whinging about the use of euros in my comments?

(Side note – Read this comment a few times before replying, I’m being deadly serious, dedicate some actual time and attention when reading this comment)

          • Billmag

Wasting your time with that piece of💩 mate.

          • 45709

Hi, thanks I’m finding it hilarious, with cashley in charge gotta find something to bring enjoyment lol 😂

But seriously I appreciate your comment and hope you’re having a great weekend 👍

        • 45709

Also if i was a multi-billionaire and decided to buy Myron Gibbons (Doncaster rovers striker) for £400m doesn’t mean at NUFC we’d win because that much was spent

          • Clarko

It’s a good thing that’s not the argument then isn’t it?

          • 45709

So what is the argument? Are you saying that because we’ve spent more we should win? Or nufc is now so bad it wouldn’t make a difference in what’s spent, the results would be the same?

          • Clarko

The argument is that our starting eleven cost more than Brighton’s…

          • 45709

I don’t follow, please tell me what that means

          • Tomb

Because the mag makes it sound that Brighton spend a fortune which is why they beat us, rather than dare criticise the manager. Ill informed misinformation from the mag

          • 45709

Well that’s by the by, forget what the mag puts. Does a £10 💩 perform better than a £100 💩? A 💩 is still a 💩. Also if all you have is 💩 it’s a bit hard to tell which 💩 is which

        • Danimal

They must have a lot of injuries and/or a considerably better bench than us. The main point is they have built a squad by investing and improving year on year. We have to cobble a new squad together every couple of years, from apparently ever decreasing resources, due to the irresponsible negligence of your man Ashley.

          • Clarko

            Our team cost more…

          • Billmag

It’s not your [email protected]@@@@g team Cuckoo.

          • Tomb

Our squad costs more as we were relegated with a strong squad they were promoted with a weak squad. The lies on this site to protect Rafa are pathetic

          • Tomb

They did have a lot of key players injured which is why it was a shocking result

    • GToon

Clarko, can I ask you a serious question please. When the clocks go back and it gets dark that bit earlier do you have to go to bed an hour earlier? And if so do you record Dr Who?

      • MrShack66

He’s still smarting over the sacking of his hero McClaren.

      • Danimal

I don’t know about that but I’d trust a fkn dalek to have more insight into the problems of Newcastle United FC than Clarko.

    • gordon

Tool – by your own reasoning we should lose today (remember how you vilified Rafa when we didn’t beat Forest or Cardiff whose squads cost less than ours?) At least Monkseaton is just an idiot – you are an absolute fecking pr1ck.

      • Clarko

Today Newcastle’s staring eleven cost €67.70m, Brighton’s cost €48.75m (fees for Kayal and Stephens undisclosed)…

        How embarrassing…

        • Tomb

They were missing their three key players however this site innacuratley made it seem like Brighton had spent a fortune compared to Rafa. Our squad is still valued higher than theirs which they didnt mention as they prefer to hold up Rafa as a god. Well done Chris Hughton, Newcastle legend

          • Clarko

We were missing players too (Rondon and Lejeune) and we had €36.20m of Benitez’s buys sat on the bench, some use they were…

    • East Durham Mag

      Cupid stunt.

      • nufcslf

        And should be ignored.

        • East Durham Mag

I know but its hard sometimes.

  • Billmag

The easiest thing is to sack the manager then what ????

    • Peaky

Fat Sham Hippo Heed waiting for the call….perish the bloody thought…

      • MrShack66

        It’ll appease fattys guily conscience.

      • Danimal

Fat Sham likes to spend. Although he’d probably be willing to preside over the relegation for one last payday.

    • mentalman

It may be a catalyst for better performances or we may carry on going the way we are going

      • Billmag

I’ve said that’s the easy bit now you come up with a solution.

        • mentalman

Nobody knows what will happen till it happens

      • Superdooperhooper

Who do we get in then ? Which desperate journeyman do you fancy ? Moyes o’leary curbishley Strachan or Phil the sunbed brown?

        • HarryHype59

          Fat Sham!😉

        • Tomb

who would do worse than our worst start since the 1800s?

          • Superdooperhooper

Who could do better ? Name names

  • David2211

Seeing people calling for Rafa to get sacked. Laughable.
But yeah…I just don’t care anymore. I have better things to do than get all angry over this anymore

    • Dillon Tovak

      Same

    • Wezza

Agree! It’s not a football club anymore. It’s a low budget club for maximum return.
I never used to give the crowd stuck but not even chanting Ashley out is appalling. Do they even know what he has done with the money?

HE WILL NOT INVEST IN JANUARY!

    • Tomb

harsh but one win in 15 would put any manager under pressure and its their worst start since the 1800s

    • Steven05

I have worse things to do – like follow the sheep into the big SportsDirect with a field, sit in silence, hope that someone does something about it, and wonder what I’ve done to deserve it 😂

But I won’t. I don’t even want to win a trophy under this cancer.

And to those people who say ‘they go when Rafa does’ – why? Why not fight FOR Rafa NOW (you know, while we still can)

  • killymag

The happy clappers will be on shortly telling us the season starts next week

  • GToon

I’d like to take a moment to thank Mike Ashley for taking yet another gamble with my club. Well done Mike. Now go and do one.

  • Leicester Mag

Well I hope Mugwump can come on here and explain the positives of 5 losses in a row at home

  • Toon Barmy

I hope the people who booed at the end of the match, were booing themselves and the rest of the spectators for yet another inept display at supporting the club.

    • Wezza

      Spot on.

    • Marveauxless

Yep, that’s the problem. 50,000 people showing up to watch the side bottom of the league. Maybe if there had been slightly more background noise Joselu wouldn’t have hit the corner flag with his late attempt on goal, if a few more people had shouted “Howay man, Noo-castil like!” then Lascelles wouldn’t have gifted Jahanbakhsh a free chance on goal.

You are massively overvaluing the role of the supporters in the outcome of the game

      • Toon Barmy

The spectators could have sang their hearts out for the entire match and it wouldn’t have changed the result. I am more annoyed by the fact a certain individual was allowed to sit through the entire match and not a hint of abuse was thrown in his direction.

        • ToonTom

It is clear that we have all simply given up hope. Why shout, sing, pay him any attention when you don’t have the energy left to do so?

    • Leazes.

I hope they were booing Ashley.

      • nufcslf

        Him as well.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

Thank the good Lord that I’m still young enough to figure out something else to do with my Saturdays from now on. I feel bad for everyone who is 20+ years older than me and has invested so much of their time and money into this club just to see the life drained from it by a fat greedy toad…

    • ToonTom

Thank the good Lord that I’m old enough to have been thrilled by the dramas of a St James Park in rapture at another fantastic Supermac goal, and to have seen Keegan the first time, and then seen Keegan the second time, and the crazy, breathless days of The Entertainers, seen FA Cup Finals (however badly we played), and cried my eyes out when we threw away a Premiership on March 4, 1996. I’ve seen Alan Shearer as a ball boy and I’ve seen him as a superstar. I’ve never seen a trophy (too young in 1969), but I’ve seen enough glorious times at the Colosseum on the hill to last me my remaining lifetime. Honestly, it’s you guys I feel heart sorry for.

      • GToon

Exactly. I’ve seen that too and all my lads have known is the Ashley era. What a shame.

  • Hopey

    I’m sooooooo pleased I didn’t renew my season ticket🍻

  • Ashley-out

what 5 things have we learned today

    • MrShack66

      Weareshit

      • Ashley-out

        1.

  • ToonTom

Last season was First Season Back Syndrome where a Championship side produced results it could not easily sustain season after season. It was obvious the team needed to be strengthened in order to avoid what we now witness. Cashley has backed himself into a corner. If he waits until January and then invests heavily, it costs him a fortune and we may still go down. If he waits until the end of the season without investment, we go down. This just seems to leave one inevitable option for the idiot: he has to remove Rafa (and pay him off), then put in an Allardyce-like replacement to try to galvanise the team long enough to strangle some points out of games, and maybe make some limited investment in January. Whichever way he now acts, Cashley has pretty much blown our Premiership place, and probably forced himself to remove the very man who has to date prevented a complete meltdown amongst the fans.

    • MrShack66

he’ll sack Benitez and employ some journeyman and back them to the hilt. And we’ll still go down.

      • Tomb

Will a journeyman do worse than our worst start since the 1800s?

        • MrShack66

Probably our worst squad since the 1800s.

    • glassjawsh-got-banned

      nailed it

    • Danimal

Nicely summed up. Another fine mess…

    • Leazes.

Season was finished before it had begun….every season has been like this under Ashley…. the sacking is on the cards as it will allow him to do the same thing with another manager!

….The chronicle boys will start the neverending cycle again backing the regime….. and again….

      • nufcslf

Yes, what a total cock-up. It was always going to do this route. Don’t understand why it has been allowed. Oh well, on with better things for the rest of the weekend.

      • HarryHype59

As soon as Fatty rolled the dice and gambled on our EPL future by making a £20m profit, our season was over.

    • nufcslf

Yeah, what a great business man……NOT…..

    • MadMag83

Ashley will get his minion Charnley to sack Benitez, that way he can say it was the decision of the (none existent) board and not cuddly Mike.

Ashley will then get his cronies to put the boot in and blame Benitez for the impending relegation and the fact he wants £6m which means the transfer budget is gone.

Joe Kinnear will be hired to guide us to 20th place, with a few more January loan signings!

      • ToonTom

The transfer kitty will pay Rafa his severance fee for less than the time it takes to write him out the cheque.

  • 5floorshigh

    time for fresh ideas……Rafa out

    • gordon

Love to hear your suggestions as to whom Ashley and Charnley, with their unrivalled knowledge of the football world, should replace him with.

      • GToon

        Someone cheaper I’m guessing.

      • HarryHype59

        Step forward…..Sham Allardyce…failing that..Stevie Bruce!

        • Tomb

Allardyce never got a team relegated he wouldnt do any worse

          • HarryHype59

That is the reason why he will be offered the job after the next defeat!

      • nufcslf

At least with fatty in charge, it won’t get any worse…will it?….Not even funny anymore.

    • Superdooperhooper

And who comes in to rescue us?

    • East Durham Mag

Ashley out is the answer. Its his fault f*cking Gandalf the White, Harry Potter and Paul Daniels couldn’t do any better than Rafa.

      • Tomb

Who would do worse than our worst start since the 1800s?

        • East Durham Mag

The only men we will get will be the likes of Alardyce, Pardew etc etc. The only answer is or was to back Rafa, but out of pure greed/malice the Fat C*nt wouldn’t. Ashley, Charnley et al aren’t football men and don’t care about NUFC. Who would you want?

  • Superdooperhooper

Anyone else opposed to a boycott now ? If you are let me know why

  • Hopey

Boycott forever until the fat controller leaves

    • nufcslf

Would be nice to see. Sad that it will never happen.

  • Peaky

I’m away out now on Eccleshall Road,Sheffield on the lash…..cracking night out….divvent get down folks it really really isn’t worth it…

    • GToon

Yeah, u r right. It used to be worth it. Now it most definitely isn’t. Enjoy your night out mate! 👍🏻🍺

    • Danimal

Eccy Road eh? Have a good un. Kelham Island for me. Cheers.

      • Peaky

Keep meaning to go up there…enjoy your night 🍺🍺🍺

    • Billmag

You are right mate back in the day after bad game you used to go home and kick the 🐕 😀, but all this social media stuff you go out and get drunk, enjoy your night out mate I’m going out to look for a dog (4 legged).

  • GToon

If it’s any consolation my daughter Katie had a cracking game today, scored her first goal, bossed the midfield and helped her team to a 5-1 win. That was this morning.
After the game I turned to my son and said that’s the end of our football celebrations for today.

    • Peaky

Is she available in January ??. ..sign her up…

      • GToon

I reckon she’d be interested. I gave her the middle name of “Shearer” so she’s half way there!

      • GToon

I’ve spoken to Katie for you and showed her your message. Poor kid, she thought you were being serious! She was willing to go up for one match! But she said it’s a long way and would miss her friends! Made us all laugh here! 👍🏻

        • Peaky

          Ah bless her…..nice story…😂🤣

  • Hopey

Crazy to think that 5under1and could be above us this time next year, sickening really

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

the only thing left to look forward to is whether or not (once he leaves) Rafa takes off the gloves when reflecting on working for the fat lying toad. my guess is he has too much class. but oh, the stories he could probably tell.

  • GToon

That line from the theme tune to The Likely Lads – “the only thing to look forward to is the past” seems rather poignant.

  • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Fatty will sack Rafa to save face. New appointment – another journeyman who does as he’s told – will take us down for the 3rd time under the FCB’s ownership.Would it be worth it to se the back of the FCB ?

    • ToonTom

      Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • nufcslf

Shouldn’t have to come to that, but yes and relegation to league 1 if needed.

    • MadMag83

The pity is it won’t. Two relegations and the Wayne Kerr is still here!

  • oompalumpa

Why to people even comment or get excited. Go but accept the results and understand your making fatty richer. Or stay at home until the slug leaves simples

  • Mirandinha9

“We go to the match to support the team” is the mantra of the 50,000 sheep / fools who turn up every fortnight whilst Cashley uncontrollably laughs at them as they go through the turnstiles. For those who are part of the 50,000, YOU are an integral part of the problem. There is a saying ‘if you always do, what you’ve always done, you’ll always get, what you’ve always got’ which is Cashley taking the mick out of us, by service up mediocrity, which he has done for the last 11 years. Form some backbone guys once and for overall, and stop going to the matches.

    • Marveauxless

The club earns £25 million a season from matchday revenue. 40,000 season tickets have already been sold meaning 80% of that revenue is already guaranteed for this season. If St James’ was empty every single game from now until the end of the season it would only cost the club £5 million in revenue.
He isn’t going to spend >£50 million to earn £5 million in return.
Match-going fans are not financially important enough to a Premier League football club to influence change. Look at what the Oystons have been doing to Blackpool for the last 20 years and. even though there have been fan protests for decades and, as a lower league club where matchday income is far more important, they are still at the club and show no signs of leaving.

      • Hopey

Money means nothing to these people, EMPTY GROUNDS DO
        Arsenal last year

      • nufcslf

It would look sh*t for televised matches and get all of the right questions asked and the football isn’t worth watching in the first place.

        • Marveauxless

All Sky have to do is zoom the camera in slightly and no-one would know, as the cameras are usually positioned in the Milburn stand then you just make sure you fill the East stand first and the ground would look a lot more full than it actually is. Anyway Sky don’t particularly care about attendance figures, if anything it means more people are watching their broadcasts. Remember the mass walkouts under Pardew? The ground was 70% at one stage

          • Toon

            Oh dear

      • Mirandinha9

What do you think Cashley’s body weight is?

      • Mirandinha9

You underestimate the actions of the fans in the translated effects it then has on owners. The actions of the West Ham fans in demonstrating their displeasure to the owners last season has led to them being one of the biggest spenders in the summer transfer window. I know Cashley (and I’m well qualified in saying this as I know him personally) would be affected by this. If he cannot tolerate around 8 fans giving him grief outside an Italians in Ponteland, he would be ready to take it away, if attendances dropped to around 30k.

        • Marveauxless

Remarkable then that 50,000 people calling him a FCB in an enclosed space has him laughing and smiling. We had attendances in the 30,000s in 2010 under Houghton. Why does thousands of people hurling vitriol at him not affect him yet 20,000 people not showing up affect him so severely? Surely he’s already fully aware of the fans’ collective opinion
on him without a boycott? He doesn’t live in a bubble.
The difference is the West Ham owners actually want to establish West Ham as a competitive Premier League club.

          • nufcslf

There wasn’t a word directed at the fat c**t today.

    • ToonTom

I understand why the season ticket holders go (they’ve already paid good money), and I understand why the die hards go (they can’t stop themselves and I feel for them). But I don’t get why the remainder go. But maybe that’s because there isn’t actually a remainder to start a boycott with?

      • kingfisher

I (along with many others) am a die hard supporter. In over 50 years supporting my team I’ve spent thousands of pounds and travelled thousands of miles, and I was able to stop going (again along with many others) so the argument that die hards can’t give up is rubbish ToonTom.
They use that as an excuse along with “I support the team not the regime” to keep getting their football fix and donating money to Ashley.

        • nufcslf

Really is as simple as that. Plus the football is shocking from lack of investment and not worth watching on the telly, never mind live.

    • kingfisher

Exceedingly well put Mirandinha.I was going to have a rant based on the
50, 000 getting what they deserve, but you have summed it up perfectly.
      👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏

    • Waxi

Sky give him £125 million large every year so it’s just the gate receipts that are the problem is it. I suggest you get 20 million subscribers to ditch sky then the source of the finance might stop.

    • Tomb

Hear Hear. Anyone who whines about Ashley but pays him year after year needs their head examining

  • robbersdog

We haven’t landed at Up Sh*t Creek yet, but the wheels are down, the landing lights are on, the seat-belts are buckled up and the captain is reminding us to take our hand-luggage when we leave the plane.

  • Hopey

We can’t affect the sale of the club in any way apart from the club having no customers, no customers =no club end of, never mind support the team who cares what other clubs fans think, this is our club our time STAY AWAY

  • ToonTom

And I’ll tell you what – those bloody white socks don’t help!

  • Hopey

Just look at Arsenal last year they got what they wanted and the cameras couldn’t stop filming an half empty ground, our fans seem to think they have a duty to turn up just to show how passionate and amazing they are to get one over the likes of 5under1and and others but come on this is our club our City we need to all be on the same page and stop attending, no other actions are required, take the hit for one year and STOP GOING momentum is growing

    • kingfisher

They won’t even boycott one game Hopey, never mind a full season.

      • Hopey

Everyone thought we would get a win today and relieve the pressure, but the situation is at breaking point I didn’t renew this season but my son did, and I wish he didn’t
He loves the buzz and camaraderie at 15, like we all did but I am going to convince him to make a difference as well and stay away
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

    • Tomb

Good point effective boycott by Arsenal fans but our fans wont do it as we are ‘too loyal’

  • LOGAN

Rafa’s tactics were terrible by pumping balls into the box for 6’4” dunks and co to easily defend, bring back houghton

    • HarryHype59

NUFC could have played until midnight and not scored! Other teams have worked us out!

    • Big Hairy Man

Keep Rafa and hound out Ashley

  • gallowgate26

Went for the first time this season today, I was shocked by how poor they were and total lack of any game plan. I would say it’s now a relegation fight…but there’s no fight. Bullied by Brighton and Hove FFs!!

  • Grahame Johnson

I’ve seen relegation in the 70s, 80s and twice under Ashley,so to say my soul is black and white is true alas my heart is broken by one man’s treatment of the club i love!!!

  • Waxi

People are so deluded if they think those who go to the game are the problem, you need to do your sums. Again it is the £125 million large off sky that keeps the FCB at our club. The gate receipts would not even cover the wage bill.

    • Wezza

If what we are told is true that is. Keep in mind that Grant Thornton, independent auditor for nufc accounts is under investigation for SD accounts. Fishy eh?
Wage bill is 43M, I think the matchday will be close to that.

    • Westdentoon

Nah mate apparently it’s all them bairns fault that were sat in the family enclosure today enjoying themselves and they got exactly what they deserved!

    • Marveauxless

Exactly! Newcastle United’s primary customers are not Newcastle fans. They’re the millions of people around the world who watch the Premier League. Interest in the Premier League would not decrease globally if Newcastle were relegated therefore Premier League revenue is independent of Newcastle’s performance.

      • Coach Clagnut

Murdoch’s racket lost 11% of subscribers when we went down last time. It’s estimated Puma sell around 100,000 replicas a year. Globally it’s unlikely a relegation will have a major impact on viewing figures but nationally it affects Murdoch’s bottom line. It’s also doubtful Puma will see any increase in demand after we’re relegated.

Fans /supporters have more clout than credited. Cancelling shytsports and refusing to buy any Puma merchandise with an email informing both companies that you refuse to contribute to their brands because they are culpable in the slow strangulation of the N.U.F.C. and the egregious ownership responsible for the unending misery.

        Widen the resistance.

    • Hopey

Everyone wants to go and support their team me included, I like nothing better than going with my son and having a great day, but there’s no great days anymore and time is running out for me to enjoy it with my soon to be a man son.
The people attending ARE the problem no customers no spectacle

      • Marveauxless

Newcastle fans are not Newcastle United’s primary customers

        • Hopey

It’s not about the money, do you think an A list star could go and perform in front of an empty arena, and if they did do you think the press would not cripple them for it

          • Waxi

Hope it is all about the money and nothing else. Our 125 million bought the FCB HOF this year with our money. It is all about the money.

          • Hopey

That’s your opinion but money is just money it comes and goes and props up establishments but when the people stay away there is a clear message and no matter how big an entity is if there’s no customers it will fail, this is about more than money it’s a small nation a club a City our lives, think what you like but action is needed

          • Marveauxless

            1. The Premier League has literally billions of customers worldwide and Newcastle directly benefit from that regardless of performance
            2. An entity with no customers fails because of financial reasons

Do you really have such a poor understanding of basic business concepts? Money is the sole reason businesses perpetuate, they can’t survive on positive vibes

          • Hopey

Buisines is buisiness and of course money is the key objective, but this is a different situation and it is affecting people’s lives, do you think Chelsea would have won the league with the Russians money with an empty ground NO

          • Marveauxless

Probably, Chelsea fans don’t make a lot of noise. You haven’t provided any reasoning for why an empty ground leads to underperformance, nor explained why empty grounds would simultaneously have no negative impact on the opposing teams. Barcelona played games behind closed doors last season following civil unrest in Catalonia, it had no impact on their performance, they continued to win games and won the league by 14 points losing only 1 game all season

          • Hopey

Chelsea Probably not, we are far from Barcelona a silly comparison really
You have your own opinions which don’t match mine
We are an English club with a fantastic fan base no more, which holds us up in this country take them away and we are the equivalent of say Hull City

          • Marveauxless

Chelsea is also a silly comparison. Barcelona’s “A list stars” (of which they have far more than us) were in no way affected by an empty stadium. Some indiscriminate background noise does not influence football matches.

Also, even if Newcastle’s performances did suffer massively as a result of a boycott what does that achieve? If anything it just guarantees relegation, reducing the value of the club and making Ashley more reluctant to sell. No-one would sell a club when it is at its lowest possible value.

          • Superdooperhooper

Sky know they will get millions of viewers for nufc matches regardless of the division they’re in which is why they don’t care

          • Marveauxless

Yes, easily. The role of supporters are massively overvalued when it comes to the final result. They perform in training every single day.
The press have been attacking Ashley for years, he sat smiling at Crystal Palace as the entire away end called him a FCB for 90 minutes. he doesn’t care about bad publicity, the millions of pounds worth of free advertising SportsDirect receive every year more than make up for that.

          • Hopey

I’m not arsed about any of that, an empty ground would send shock waves through the football paternity

          • Marveauxless

            1. St James’ Park is empty for the next game
            2. SkySports and the rest of the footballing media all benefit from increased clicks on news articles and view on news channels
            3. ???

In your mind what happens next? What facet of that process leads to Mike Ashley, a man famous for his lack of concern for bad publicity, leave Newcastle United? Show your working

(Also, you don’t know what paternity means)

          • Leicester Mag

I’m intrigued as to what you propose. We are odds on to be back in the championship with a far weaker team than ever before in a stronger than ever championship. Loyalty has got us nowhere. So what next? Rince and repeat? Maybe a boycott won’t work but at present the rest of the football world see us as a laughing stock.

          • Marveauxless

There’s nothing that can be done, home supporters are not financially important enough to a Premier League club to influence change. Pointing out the inherent flaws and logical fallacies in one idea does not require me to come up with a better idea; whether you boycott the stadium or not you will not oust Ashley.
Personally I don’t think we will get relegated and the disproportionately difficult start we faced in the first 8 games has put us in a false position, yes today was a bad result but last season we also lost to Bournemouth, Huddersfield, Watford twice and Brighton.

          • Damon Horner

I think some of us are getting desperate but I agree with you. Only thing getting Ashley Out of this club legally is money.

          • Leicester Mag

Eye and last year we picked up points off top sides covering the fact that we lost to apparent peers, all of whom incidentally strengthened this summer. I doubt outside Penfolds teddy bear many share your optimism

          • Marveauxless

We picked up far fewer points against the top 6 than we normally do. Only 10 in 12 games last season, 9 of those coming in the last 4 games against the top 6 (Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea). In contrast when we were relegated in 2016 we picked up 16 points from those same 12 games.

Our performance in the first half of last season against the same teams (minus Cardiff of course) led to us picking only 1 point against Crystal Palace

          • Hopey

            Bore off

          • Marveauxless

Come up with a well thought-out, logical argument then

          • Hopey

I’m not on here to argue just to put my point across to STAY AWAY

          • Marveauxless

argument means “a reason or set of reasons given in support of an idea”
“putting your point across” is an argument

          • Hopey

Great I’m a working class man with humble opinions and I’m not interested in your petty comments, I can think what I like and express it how I feel.
I am not on here to create enamies with anybody, you have your views and I have mine it’s not an intelligence completion, my views are my views and I am not interested in your output.

          • Marveauxless

Yes fine you’re free to think whatever you like but if you’re going to post your opinions openly on a public forum then you should be able to provide reasonable justification for them.
If you are unable to justify your opinions to yourself or others beyond appeals to emotion then you must admit that those opinions are irrational.

          • Hopey

Great as long as I am free to think what I like and post whenever I like suits me

          • Leazes.

Use the block button….don’t feed the troll

          • Hopey

            Will do mate 👍🏻

    • Tomb

      You are supporting Ashley. Congratulations

      • Waxi

Nope i support NUFC. You more than likely support him by subscribing to sky so stop complaining about those who support NUFC.

        • nufcslf

NUFC is dead and has been for over a decade. Total sheep go and get the pysh taken out them every home game. Wake up. Honestly, at the end of the day I find it funny that people…not fans…still show up. The advertizing in and around the place should be enough to make your blood boil. Never mind, enjoy.

          • Waxi

Here we go again the sheep insult. You most likely still watch it some place either through sly in your home or down the pub which is just the same as the supporter going to SJP. If you watch it in your local you are funding the pub paying an extortionate rate to sly sports who then pay the FCB so wake up we all support our team in different ways. BTW i never look at any signage i’m watching the game.

Quote from the BBC sports website :
“The result means Newcastle are the fourth team in top-flight history to lose their first five home games – an unwelcome statistic for manager Rafael Benitez who must now be feeling the pressure”.

If Rafa had any common sense and dignity, he would walk away now and leave the 50.000 to reap what they have sowed.

    • Leazes.

He has lots of common sense and dignity……..

…… but unfortunately the owner hasn’t, and my guess is with Ashley the most reactionary right wing controller since William McKeag embarked upon voluntary pogrom service with the murderous white army…..

……we will get reactionary solutions, as we did with other right wing chairmen and owners such as Westwood and Hall…. god knows who the unlucky sap will be…. maybe just give the job to Charnley as he has faith in him to build the squad over every managerial; or coaching appointment.

…….Rafa has been the figurehead, and galvanising force for change, the Rafalution that Ashley was determined wouldn’t happen.

…. but I feel these people will now try to impose a journeyman to save their skins and throw a bit of cash around….

….they have been determined not to let Rafa have any control at all.

      All aboard the magic roundabout.

      Boycott Wolves

  • X,WHY,Y MAN.

To be beaten by Brighton 0-1 at home means there is nowhere to go from here, So it looks like a nailed on 3rd relegation during Ashley’s administration !

    • nufcslf

Must be almost tome for the next 5 year plan.

  • gallowgate26

Well done Gateshead for beating smaller club Dunston 0-4 today. Shame Newcastle can’t beat a South coast club at home!

  • killymag

2 points and one quarter of the season gone are we going for the lowest points ever, because we are on course for it .

    • Marveauxless

We’ve also played 5 of last season’s top 6 and recent champions Leicester. The quality of opposition we have played so far is disproportionately high and not an accurate reflection of the team’s ability.

      • Big Al 1967

Very Lucky to get a point at Cardiff
Very Lucky to get a point against Palace
Beaten by a Brighton side to have forgotten what its like to score never mind win away from home
The writing is on the wall!
        ASHLEY OUT!

        • Marveauxless

If anything we were incredibly unlucky not to win against Cardiff given that we missed a penalty 🙄

          • Big Al 1967

We missed ONE clear cut chance from the spot. Watch the game back in full and then tell me we unlucky not to win

          • Marveauxless

            Possession: 51% v 49%
            Shots: 12 v 12
            Shots on Target: 6 v 1 (We had 6)

An even game where we were more accurate and had a penalty.
To not score from a penalty is incredibly unlucky, if that penalty would have won the game then, logically, we were incredibly unlucky not to win.

          • Big Al 1967

Stats can prove anything. As I said watch the game back and watch their carthorse of a centre forward miss 2 gilt edged chances when it would be harder not to hit the target

          • Marveauxless

“you can prove anything with facts” 😂

Were either of those chances easier than a penalty? Remember when Perez was clean through and passed it straight at the goalkeeper at chest height?

          • Big Al 1967

Today’s match stats say we battered Brighton but I think you have to accept that was not the case Likewise a shot from 60 yards counts as a shot on target (remember Leicester) hence Stats can prove anything you want them to (A bit like the Fat mans Accountants!) Your comment about you can prove anything with facts is beyond me.
As I said watch the game back and if you think we were unlucky not to win against Cardiff that is your prerogative but that will not change my opinion

          • nufcslf

Go back and watch it again. The only player on the pitch not to take that penalty was Kenedy and hey presto it was and he missed.

          • HarryHype59

            Monky….do one!

      • nufcslf

What about Palace and today, you tit.

      • HarryHype59

Time for a reality check bud!. There simply isn’t there worse teams than NUFC this season. The Ashley gamble has failed FACT!

  • Superdooperhooper

Surely time for a boycott ? Supporting the team and not the regime isn’t working

    • nufcslf

Never has and never will. This lot aren’t football supporters and will still show up in their thousands.

      • Superdooperhooper

Sadly they’re comprised of the day out squad and the self proclaimed superfans like Monkseaton Moscow who hasn’t missed a game since he got back from the zulus at rorkes drift

      • Waxi

So what are you if we who go to SJP are not supporters.

    • Waxi

All out for the Wolves game is the message from the magpie group.
