No excuses at Palace as Rafa Benitez at last gets first choice Newcastle United team on the pitch
This afternoon Newcastle United can at last kick off their season.
For the first time this season, the Newcastle boss able to name his best team.
Martin Dubravka in goal and then a back four of Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez and Dummett.
Florian Lejeune long-term injured of course but Federico Fernandez having shown himself to be Newcastle’s best defender so far this season. A Premier League stalwart and Argentine international, he has looked very good in his appearances in a black and white shirt.
Jonjo Shelvey is back alongside Mohamed Diame, the pair of them will hopefully be back to the form they showed from February onwards – Diame giving his midfield partner the platform to run the game.
On the wings, Ritchie is a no-brainer, whilst Kenedy has far more ability than Atsu and Murphy. An interrupted summer of preparation has contributed to his very poor start to the season, hopefully a Rafa combination of carrot and stick will get him back on track today.
Rondon in for Joselu is obvious, a week of training after being left out of the international break, when he got a couple of goals.
Rafa says Yoshinori Muto is getting closer to making his first PL start and hopefully that will wake up Ayoze Perez. The former Tenerife striker was in great form at the end of last season and must now know he is heading out of the team if he doesn’t start and repeat it.
Backed by a full away following of just under 3,000, Newcastle United must have a great chance of all three points.
Lets get at them!
