This afternoon Newcastle United can at last kick off their season.

For the first time this season, the Newcastle boss able to name his best team.

Martin Dubravka in goal and then a back four of Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez and Dummett.

Florian Lejeune long-term injured of course but Federico Fernandez having shown himself to be Newcastle’s best defender so far this season. A Premier League stalwart and Argentine international, he has looked very good in his appearances in a black and white shirt.

Jonjo Shelvey is back alongside Mohamed Diame, the pair of them will hopefully be back to the form they showed from February onwards – Diame giving his midfield partner the platform to run the game.

On the wings, Ritchie is a no-brainer, whilst Kenedy has far more ability than Atsu and Murphy. An interrupted summer of preparation has contributed to his very poor start to the season, hopefully a Rafa combination of carrot and stick will get him back on track today.

Rondon in for Joselu is obvious, a week of training after being left out of the international break, when he got a couple of goals.

Rafa says Yoshinori Muto is getting closer to making his first PL start and hopefully that will wake up Ayoze Perez. The former Tenerife striker was in great form at the end of last season and must now know he is heading out of the team if he doesn’t start and repeat  it.

Backed by a full away following of just under 3,000, Newcastle United must have a great chance of all three points.

Lets get at them!

Newcastle United confirmed team v Crystal Palace:

Dubravka, Yedlin, Lascelles, Fernandez, Dummett, Ritchie, Shelvey, Diame, Kenedy, Perez, Rondon

and the Subs:

Darlow, Ki, Atsu, Muto, Clark, Manquillo, Joselu

  • Ron

Looks as if we have a great chance to take the points. Kenedy and Perez my only worries. They must replicate the end of last season.

  • CKO

Oh there will be plenty of excuses if we lose, there always is.

    • gordon

From another comment section. Can’t be bothered to type another comment:

According to ‘CKO’ aka twitchytoes Rafa got us relegated! Despite McLaren managing for 75% of the season, none of the players being Rafa’s and the ‘board’ taking too long to replace McLaren meaning he basically ran out of time (if CKO recalls it took a couple of games to get the team playing his way and then finished the season with six games unbeaten), it is Rafa’s fault🤣 Blissfully unaware that by his own flawed logic Rafa bears sole responsibility for promotion and a 10th place finish. Also keeps harping on about how Rafa is schitt because we couldn’t beat Cardiff or Forest when our team cost more than them. Blissfully unaware that, by his own flawed logic, we should therefore lose against the other 18 premier teams somewhat undermining his god-emperor’s financial plan. Bloke’s a feckin arschole – couldn’t argue his way in a feckin kindergarten 🤣🤣

      Now f*@k off.

      • Toontaff

        Excellent comment!

        • CKO

          It was a terrible comment.

      • CKO

        ^ Excuses incoming

      • Andy Mac

Point taken 👍 Maybe CKO needs to be added to the troll list ? 🤔

        • Wor Lass

          CKO = C lar KO

          • Kenny

            😂😂😂😂

        • Wezza

He is and is blocked ;)

        • CKO

          How am I a troll?

      • Wezza

He is just trolling because Manure are winning but he wasn’t posting when they were losing 0-3 at home to Spurs. Tory scum.

      • CKO

Benitez did get Newcastle relegated, he was brought in to keep us up and failed, he failed to win a single game against Norwich, Sunderland or Aston Villa. He was given plenty of time, 10 games, 30 points to play for, he failed.

Benitez was responsible for our Championship season, but let’s not pretend that it was some sort of miracle, we should have walked that league given the money that he spent. Benitez was responsible for our 10th place finish, it was probably the highest finish you could expect him to get, credit where credit is due.

We should be walking all over Cardiff and Forest. Benitez had a team that cost twice as much as theirs, Benitez is paid significantly more than their managers, our wage bill is significantly more than theirs. The same can be said when we play the top six, they should be beating us, they have been.

Next time if you have a problem with one of my comments why don’t you try and address it there and then instead of waiting tot try and pick the best moment to respond and twist my words/argument.

        Loser.

        • gordon

Read my post again paying special attention to the last three words

          • CKO

Read my post again, pay attention to the last word.

          • Kenny

            Hi Clarko, you dummy

        • Wor Lass

Your comment is timed at an hour ago and so is Gordon`s reply. You`re as mad as ever, C lar KO.

          • CKO

Still struggling with the reading I see.

            Moron.

        • Ram Kishore

I agree with most of your comments.. but one thing I would not agree is your argument that Benitez is responsible for relegation. If u r saying he is ‘solely’ the reason..Then u r wrong.if u r saying he failed to keep us up, which I agree. But he is not the reason why we were down

        • Georgia Peter

          Obnoxious a55hole.

    • Duh

Yeah I think today is where the excuses run out apart from just being poor

      • CKO

No, it will be all Ashley’s fault again.

  • Kenny

Perez 1 on 1 with the keeper, fluffs it

    • Wor Lass

He`s Waugh`s player of the half on the Chronic.

      • Kenny

        games is krap

        • Wor Lass

Are you at another whiskey-tasting session? I`ll be having one on monday night when I get back home.

          • Kenny

having a 1 now to calm the nerves

  • wheyayeman

Anyone else growing to loath the club they were once in love with, well what’s left of it.

  • DC1964

Shocking stuff from the toon, don’t look interested!

  • nufcslf

When you are sh*t….and we are, look at the league table…playing against one of the teams that we are supposed to be able to compete with, joke. You just can’t miss the Perez and Lascelles chances. The post they hit almost being the difference after the misses. Kenedy looks totally lost again. Hope to be proved wrong in the second half, but got this horrible gut feeling that all there is to look forward to are subs from a weak bench leading to another loss. Well done Cashley for making football and match day have simply f**k all to look forward to.

    • Duh

This looks like a 1-0 loss

  • foggy

0-0 half time. One real chance for the Toon which was fluffed by bambi perez.
Kenedy woeful, Rondon trotting around, Yedlin on a yellow.
Ref giving palace way too many free kicks around the away sides box. Must be a ploy by uncle woy as most free kicks are from the same area which gives the left footed milivojeviv the chance on goal. The palace go down like they’ve been pole axed at the slightest touch. Ref falls for it everytime.
The Toon need to up their game by a long margin 2nd half or they’ll be propping up the league come full time.

    • nufcslf

Never a yellow card against Yedlin.

    • Duh

      Very true, all of it

  • foggy

    Joselu is on for Rondon.

    • nufcslf

      Simply laughable.

    • Ashley-out

      it`s a joke

  • Peaky

Said it last week and I’ll say it again….rudderless & relegation bound…awful.

  • Wor Lass

The fat barsteward`s at the game. Not sure who he`s cheering on though!

    • Peaky

      The food and drink sellers….

    • nufcslf

Probably there to sack Rafa at the end of the match.

      • Peaky

Many a true word spoken in jest and all that…

      • Ashley-out

if it cost him nothing he would

        • Duh

Try to sell palace another manager

        • nufcslf

Hope Pardew isn’t sitting next to him…….

      • Wor Lass

        Too costly.

    • Peaky

      Penfold,Barnes & Bishop also there…?? There’s something gannin on…

      • Kenny

a helicopter crash with a bit of luck

      • nufcslf

        And it’s not to announce a sale…..

      • Tweed Mag

It is a worry – all four of them there together, how often does that happen? Just hope they feel safer at a ground connected to one of their sycophants and nothing else is going on.

  • Ashley-out

Rondon off, Joselu on & Rafa leaves a £9m striker kicking his heels on the bench
makes you wonder whats going on at Newcastle.

    • nufcslf

Bottom of the league if Burnley hold on to win.

      • Kenny

i just had a look at the table, we will be bottom

  • Kenny

to many players not putting a shift in

  • Wor Lass

Sounds like the Hoss has made a difference – shame he can`t hit a cow`s ar$e with a banjo!

    • Kenny

Palace are all over us at the minute, Dummett just made a great block

    • Kenny

you said earlier Muto is a striker, so what is he doing on the bench & Hoss playing,

      • Wor Lass

I`d like to see him have a fair go – he`s only had a few minutes playing out of position so far. Rafa definitely has his favourites.

        • Kenny

          Atsu coming on for Rithchie

      • Wor Lass

He`s coming on now – 7 minutes to have a go! You`ve got to feel sorry for him.

    • Kenny

we need leazes to shout, Penalty

  • Tweed Mag

The four architects of the current mess behind the scenes at NUFC are at the match – Ashley, Penfold, Barnes and Bishop. Four of the most useless, arrogant, incompetent individuals ever to be involved with Newcastle United. I hope the Toon Fans have spotted them and they get the stick they deserve.

    • nufcslf

Sadly, there are probably a goog few that would pose for a selfy with the c**nts…….

      • Kenny

        aye, they would

      • Tweed Mag

I hope not. If you can stomach a picture of the four slobs it is on the BBC Sport CP V NUFC page.

        • nufcslf

I’d rather not, but I am on board that if they get found out they grt the stick they deserve. By the way, this is awful by both sides.

          • Kenny

            both teams are garbage

  • Wor Lass

Trouble ahead – some cnut`s lobbed a beer bottle and it`s hit a Palace player!

    • Peaky

Wasn’t Fatty aiming for Rafa was it ????

      • nufcslf

        Brilliant

      • Wor Lass

If it was the bottle would definitely be empty.

        • Ron

Not fatty either if they started giving 5p to bring it back.

          • Wor Lass

Good point, that. Fatty`s off the hook then!

  • DC1964

Toon hanging on by their fingernails!

  • Kenny

Got Freddie & David on full blast, Under Pressure

  • Ashley-out

6 minutes away from propping the League up,
get the fat oaf out !

    • ToonTom

We’re 3rd bottom. Cardiff 0, Citeh 5, and Citeh 6, Huddersfield 1 keep us off the bottom. Point made?

      • Ashley-out

        wonderful

      • Wor Lass

Some team Citeh – they`ve beaten two teams at the same time! lol

    • nufcslf

Sadly, it will be Rafa who will be gone first…….

      • Kenny

i back Rafa all the way but some of his picks are starting to worry me

        • nufcslf

I totally agree. Changes from top to bottom might very well be needed. Would still like to see Rafa be given a chance with a proper owner to see what his approach would be. Not going to happen, leaving the fans to suffer as usual. What a total cock-up.

        • Jezza

What choice has Rafa got? With two possible exceptions, none of the players on our books are good enough for this division.

          • Ram Kishore

Rafa was totally right about his demands to bring on a CAM and LB. We definitely need someone an upgrade on Perez ,which will make perez up his game..
A LB with more attacking intent, to provide a different option for Rafa.. so in games like these kennedy and other could get more support.. Dummet is perfect for most of the matches but we do need someone different going forward to support the attck

        • Ron

No choice, no players, no chance of getting any either.

  • DC1964

How we are drawing this game I’ll never know!

    • Kenny

sheer luck, relegation looms this early in the season

  • nufcslf

How the f**k does Kenedy stay on the pitch and Richie get taken off. Honestly glad I don’t live and die for this sh*t anymore. Looking forward to the final whistle to turn it off.

    • Tweed Mag

Perez getting a start is what confuses me

      • CKO

        Ashley picked him.

      • Wor Lass

He was Waugh`s player of the first half.

        • Tweed Mag

He could have won it, but he cannot take his chances. Bambi on Ice.

        • Kenny

what does that tell you about Waugh 😂

      • Ashley-out

it must confuse him as well as he runs around doing nothing

    • CKO

Ashely told Benitez to take Ritchie off instead of Kenedy.

  • DC1964

Best moment of the game was the final whistle!

    • Ashley-out

      you can say that again

      • Ron

Best moment of the game was the final whistle!

  • Leicester Mag

It’s football Jim but not as we know it.

    • Ron

That the problem – it is as we know it, it’s the rest of the PL that don’t.

  • Ashley-out

a £10m player not even in the squad, a £9m striker that is never used
wtf is going on at the Toon

    • DC1964

      I totally agree

      • Ashley-out

it`s a madhouse picking the same failures time and again

        • DC1964

Our lack of goals is a massive problem

          • Jezza

True but our entire strike force cost about a quarter of what Chelsea paid for their new keeper. You can see where the problem lies.

        • Ron

No one else to pick – this was our strongest side

    • DC1964

Mitro got his fifth goal of the season today!

      • Ashley-out

        so i see

      • Leicester Mag

Will never understand why he was discarded. It’s not as though he was left out due to the abundance of world class talent blocking him.

        • Kenny

dropped a bollix not playing then selling him

          • Ron

No we didn’t, that dosh was needed to buy – ??
            To buy eh buy ??
            Yeah dropped big style!

        • DC1964

I agree, Mitro’s confidence was shot at the toon, he just needed to know he was wanted.

        • Wezza

I’m convinced MA had something to do with it. Maybe he was a bit of a trouble maker. Plus the cash went straight into MASH.

      • Jezza

        More than our entire team.

        • Natturner26

          You wanted him out.

    • Jezza

The trouble is that those kinds of transfer fees don’t get you very much in today’s market. Those are the fees mid table Championship clubs are paying these days.

      • Kenny

        to true they are

      • Ron

I heard there’s a striker on offer for 2 bottle tops and a Kellogs Cornflake packet top, but Ashley wanted to bottle tops for Debenhams, oh well!

  • Tino o

Terrible I’m really glad that is over not looking forward to another

  • Peaky

Fatso will be sending Penfold down to the changing room now with a one way ticket to The Wirral for Rafa…

    • Ashley-out

Rafa would take his hand off

  • Wor Lass

It sounded awful but it`s an away point, at the end of the day.

  • Foggy

I called Kenedy a one trick pony and one of the writers on here derided me. I’ll change it. He is a no trick pony. In fact, he’s looks like a jumped up tart with all the tatoos and look at me I’m a hard man routine with Zaha. He’s been a joke all season. Pathetic. Looks like he’s trying to get us relegated ably supported in that by Perez and Atsu. FFS.

    • Dillon Tovak

Yeah, I’m starting to find Kenedy really annoying. Constantly attempting 360 spins but he can’t even do the simple things competently at the moment.

      • Jezza

Yes we’re beginning to see exactly why no other clubs went for Kenedy in the summer.

        • Peaky

Another way way overrated fancy dan Brazilian….plays like a 10 year old kid who can’t get into the school team…

      • Ram Kishore

Few here wanted us to spend 20m on him.. i do remember those few having him valued based on what Bournemouth paid Ake. I always told them loan again this season will show us how good he can be kr consistent..

    • Ron

      Not sure he’s a pony!

  • Leicester Mag

Ashley’s hand cart continues slow trundle to hell.

    • Kenny

it will go faster as the season goes on

      • Leicester Mag

Just a pity he doesn’t trip in front of it

        • Kenny

or get pushed in front of it

      • Ron

Something to look forward too, miss him this week – get him next!

  • WildBill

League table shows the truth now. Huddersfield & Cardiff are worse than us. No one else though. I can’t see another team worse than us.

    • Ashley-out

      nobody can

    • Jezza

I’m not sure there’ll even be another team worse than us in the Championship next season.

      • Benji

oh shut the f#ck up you moron. All you do is moan moan, watch some p0rn you old virgin it may help.

        • Superdooperhooper

You Ben Jones and clarko are total raasclaats

        • Ron

What’s there to sing and dance about?

  • Kenny

    Is Rondon injured

    • Tino o

I hope so he was worse than the hoss

    • Peaky

      No just shyte….

      • Kenny

        Sorted then 😂

  • GToon

Hopefully Ashley and chums will run into the away fans as they leave.

    • Kenny

That would be a bit of luck

      • GToon

        Too right.

      • Ron

        Not for them, I suspect!

  • 5floorshigh

    that was worse than pathetic

  • Dillon Tovak

I’m clutching at straws because that was an abysmal watch but our two points come from two draws on the road. All our defeats are to top teams.
However the manner of our performances are pathetic. Zero effort to score or actually play football. Palace must be a lot worse than id thought to not put us to the sword.

    • Kenny

they could have & should have had 3 or 4

  • Kenny

Dummett & Fernandez had good games, the rest were ordinary

  • Leicester Mag

This is meant to be our strongest lineup ! Ffs what in the end is the point of this fuukinshiite.

    • Wor Lass

      “the point”, I suppose.

      • Kenny

At the rate we are going we won`t get 20 points

        • Jezza

This team couldn’t get 3 points if they drove the team bus at 90 mph down Northumberland Street.

          • Kenny

they are hard to watch Jezza, there just isn`t anything there

          • Peaky

If Hoss or Rondon drove the bus they’d miss the street altogether….

          • Kenny

be handy if the ran over Fatso

          • robbersdog

If I was facing a firing squad, I’d want Hoss to be the man with the rifle. He’d miss.

          • Kenny

            Nice 1

          • Leicester Mag

Unless he could fire it with his heed – agreed

          • Jezza

Ha ha yes, a wet match and a Nottinghamshire miner would make a better pair of strikers.

          • Peaky

            😂🤣😂 top analogy 👏👏

          • Ron

            They’d miss the bus!

          • Leicester Mag

Eye and Perez would miss it

          • Kenny

fluffed a 1 on 1 with the keeper early on, just awful

          • Jezza

            Excellent.

          • kingfisher

            Nice one Jezz !!

          • Jezza

The old ones are the best aren’t they, ha ha.

          • Scott Robinson

If the team coach (Rafa) was seen doing 90mph down Northumberland Street he at least deserves a round of applause, especially avoiding the crowds outside Fenwick’s Xmas window.

      • Leicester Mag

If we thought for one minute we’d build on this try and move forward I’d agree but we know the reality.

        • nufcslf

Yip, absolutely nothing to take into next week and could be manargerless with the four clowns being at the match.

    • Wezza

There is no point in the football, thats the point.
Money is the number 1 priority.

      • Ron

        No 1, 2, 3 etc

  • Leicester Mag

I kid myself every week I don’t care anymore but sadly I do and I’m utterly fookinsick of seeing everything we love and cherish being wrecked in front of us

    • Kenny

Only one man to blame for that, the Fat Rat

    • nufcslf

I will always watch what I can. I hate people who just look at results and put forward a false oppinion. The biggest difference is it doesn’t ruin my weekend and hasn’t for years now. With a new owner I will be back with full support to see what happens, but while fatty is around it will be watch and turn off whether win, lose or draw.

    • robbersdog

We were poor, but an away draw at Palace is still a decent result. There’s still a straw there to be clutched, so don’t lose hope.

      • Kenny

To be honest we got out of jail in the second half they could have had 3 or 4

        • Billmag

Can’t disagree with that Perez is becoming a proper whinger one chance and he hits it straight at the keeper.

    • Steviemagpie

Feel the same mate the fat 🐖 has a lot to answer for .

    • Foggy

Agreed. I was hoping the Japanese lad would be an uncovered gem but I’m beginning to think otherwise. Weak, easily knocked off the ball. Somebody needs to tell him that all of the ball has to be out in the premier league. Not sure what the rules are in Germany.

  • Kenny

we look like relegation fodder already, there is no light at the end of the tunnel

    • Peaky

Nope…not a flicker…..Leazes will be informing us shortly why the fourtwats were in the stand today..🤣😂

      • Kenny

The Rat was wearing a black tie, not his Newcastle one

        • nufcslf

Maybe he has sold half of the club.

        • Peaky

Hope he’s bought the New Zealand Rugby Team and sold us….

          • Carverlier football

God help him if he has. Kiwis are far more militant about the All Blacks than we’ve displayed in the last 11 years.

      • Kenny

he goes missing every match day

    • nufcslf

If only to be as ambitious as the likes of Wolves…and the other 18 to come to think of it…

    • Peaky

Off into Sheffield on the drink now….great…they both won…..getting stick from championship clubs supporters now….the joys of an ‘expat’….

      • Kenny

        Have a few for me

        • Wor Lass

Manchester for me – I`ll keep an eye out for C lar KO!

        • Peaky

Are you over for a gig ?? What’ll happen when Brexit kicks in ??

          • Wor Lass

Visiting family – got a gig next time we`re back in January. Death Cab for Cutie at the Albert Hall. It`s a great small venue – saw Jake Bugg there a while back. Don`t know what`s going on with Brexit but it shouldn`t affect us – it`s holiday home owners that might get clobbered for taxes, I reckon. There`s too many EU citizens living in Britain – especially French down South – for them to start dikking us around ….. I hope!!

          • Peaky

Good Luck….nobody, even the government have a clue what’s going on over here !?

  • BigHairyDog

I think you’d find his first choice would include Lejeune.

    • Ashley-out

we are buying £10m players that never get a game, somethings wrong somewhere

      • HarryHype59

Murphy is a prime example of this. He should be given a run in the team as Kenedy is out of form and looks like he doesn’t want to play for us.

  • Billmag

Does anyone else think that Kennedy should be taken out of the team for the time being.

    • Foggy

No. I think he should be dropped and not just for the time being but until he gets his act together and shows he has any interest in playing for us.

    • HarryHype59

He was the main reason we stayed up last season. He has looked a shadow of that player so far. I think he is huffed that Chelsea loaned him out again, rather than giving him a chance in their team.

    • Natturner26

Who else would we play? Every game Rafa sends Atsu in for Kenedy and Atsu is useless.

      • Billmag

Surely Murphy is better than Atsu the boy needs a run in the team, how many chances do you give Kennedy the lads head is not in the right place at the moment.

        • Natturner26

I keep thinking Murphy needs a run in the team too.

But he also seems to play badly every time he gets a chance. Final ball always poor whether a cross, pass, or shot.

Not what Rafa expected from his record signing. He looks like he needs a spell on loan to get his confidence back up but we don’t have the luxury to make that move.
