The results of the Newcastle v Arsenal player ratings by fans.

Always interesting to see what supporters have collectively made of the latest performance, when using our interactive ratings system.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

One clear man of the match for Newcastle, with Federico Fernandez (6.6) once again impressing.

In fact, the ratings show clearly where fans believe the relative strengths and weaknesses of the team were/are.

The back five are all in the top six ratings, whilst the five lowest are all in the midfield/attacking areas.

At the back, Fernandez was supported by Dummett (5.7), Lascelles (5.6), Yedlin (5.5) and Dubravka (5.3).

Rare for the keeper to get so low a mark but Arsenal scored with their only two efforts on target, and whilst in no way were they clangers, Dubravka will be thinking he could have saved them both on another day.

The only one of the starting front six to get a respectable mark was Matt Ritchie (5.6), the winger doing his best to trying make things happen.

As for the weakest in the side, Isaac Hayden (2.9) was really poor.

Whilst the next two lowest were Joselu (3.7) and Ayoze Perez (3.5), giving the team next to nothing up front.

Completing the picture are Diame and Murphy, both with a fan rating of 4.2. The winger with no end product and maybe Diame having too much on his plate having to try and carry Hayden.

With the subs it was a similar story, defender Ciaran Clark (5.7) doing ok when he came on and showing the strikers how to finish, when grabbing the consolation goal. Muto (3.6) and Kenedy (3.2) contributing little/nothing when coming on.

A tad harsh on the defenders and goalkeeper. It’s hard when there’s no outlet and when there is they gift the ball to the opposition.

    • True, still believe our back 4 + Dubravka has it to be a top 6 side, unfortunately, our midfield and attack is mid-championship level.
Without Shelvey and Rondon firing on all cylinders and playing every match, we don’t have a chance in scoring more than 1-2 goals per match.

    • Ron

That’s because the only Outlets Ashley is interested in are on the High Street!

  • Hayden is an absolute disgrace, very lazy tracking, lots of time in no mans land and not going forward at all (and has the pace to do it really!).
Murphy had a host of chances to do something but his conviction and decision making was lacking.
Had 2, just 2, decent crosses the entire match! Ritchie’s corners were poor (looks like he gained a few pounds as well). Should have killed it in the first half, Arsenal were there for the tacking, but we don’t have any quality attacking players to do that for us.

Lowest score is Hayden who doesn’t want to be here and is showing it. I would rather bring in one of our youngsters who at least wants the chance to shine instead of strolling around.

    • mentalman

longstaff wouldn’t have done any worse

  • Kenny

A central defender who gives away a needless free kick resulting in a goal is not
Man of the Match. Dummett for me
