Rafa Benitez confirmed early Friday afternoon that Salomon Rondon would be missing against Leicester and it would be late October at the earliest before he would potentially be back.

Not the news you need when in the relegation zone without a win, having struggled badly for goals.

Failing to score against both Cardiff and Palace, with only the bottom two clubs having scored less than NUFC’s four Premier League goals.

Now late on Friday afternoon, an exclusive from The Mail has revealed that there are more injuries impacting on Rafa Benitez.

The newspaper says that as well as Florian Lejeune who is long-term injured, Rafa could now have to do without up to three of the defenders who played at Selhurst Park.

The report says that DeAndre Yedlin has a problem with his ankle but the club are hopeful he will come through aΒ  late fitness test.

However, not so hopeful on the other two.

Both Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett are said to be set to miss after picking up hamstring problems.

With no decent alternative at left-back and with Fernandez having been Newcastle’s best player so far this season, it is looking a bit of a nightmare.

Especially with Leicester’s big strength being going forward, led by Jamie Vardy.

They have scored in every PL match this season, 11 in total, andΒ  were the top scoringΒ  team outside the top six last season.

The likes of Javier Manquillo, Ciaran Clark and Fabian Schar are all now possibilities as Rafa Benitez has yet another headache to solve.

Chickens coming home to roost, thanks to the Fat clucking Rat

Hamstring, 4 to 6 weeks, cluck, cluck cluck.

  • Dillon Tovak

    Dummy is a blow.
This is what happens when you have a paper thin squad, who’s surprised we’re screwed already?

    • Kenny

No decent replacement for Dummett, falling apart at the seams

      • Wezza

Yes you could see that coming when the club refuse to invest in another left back.
We are wide open for relegation here and I can’t see us winning tomorrow.
Ashley Out and make sure you sing it!

      • Kneebotherm8

Didn’t have a decent replacement for Dummett last season either….

      • Martin Rooney

We’ve got a left back on loan Rafa just plays him up the field.

  • BanJones

I fear we will find out how good Fernandez has been.

Nice article from Joey Barton on the Chron re: the idiots from Talksport, and his love of Newcastle as a city. Looks like Joey intends to be our manager one day!

Also who on here a few years back said re: Ashley ‘He would unplug some one on a life support machine just to charge his phone’ as that to me has always summed Super Mike up.

Everyone seems to say Fernandez has been our best player this season but Dummy`s neck and neck with him in my opinion. To lose both is a nightmare. Manquillo and Schar against Leicester`s pace and Clarke trying to remember how to play left back? This could be the weekend our relegation run starts.

      If it hasn’t already

    • Kenny

Relegation started the minute the summer widow closed & for me we cannot replace Dummett.

      • Wor Lass

        True – and true!

  • Martin Rooney

That’s what happens when you shift out a squad that got you tenth paying Β£5m to agents that could have been saved for really decent players

  • mentalman

If only we hadn’t sold mbemba

  • Squintytoonarmy

    The club is cursed ….

I think I will hardly dare to watch this game.

  • Carverlier football

I suppose that’s Clark at LB, Manquillo at RB and Schar in the centre. Great.
