I have written about it a number of times and I will say it again, you can’t underestimate how important/invaluable that it is, when you have a Newcastle fan like Alan Shearer on the mainstream media.

Not only that but Shearer is also on the most watched football programme, BBC’s Match of The Day – the top show for fans and accessible to all.

Whilst he is a Newcastle fan, and that is a helpful factor, far more important is that he is intelligent and clued up, when he speaks he does it with full honesty and knows what he is talking about.

As compared to the embarrassing sucking up to Mike Ashley that Shola Ameobi was responsible for (see below) yesterday on Sky Sports. Ameobi declaring ‘credit to Mike Ashley’ for the way he runs the club and claiming Ashley has brought stability to NUFC, this being the same NUFC that he has relegated twice in the last eight Premier League seasons.

Shola Ameobi also went down the shameful line of understanding why Newcastle can’t compete with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, when that isn’t the fan frustration at all, it is the fact that Newcastle had the lowest net spend (a profit of £20m+) of all 20 Premier League clubs and there is no intention by Mike Ashley of even trying to compete with the likes of Brighton, Huddersfield, Fulham and Bournemouth in the transfer market.

Alan Shearer totally understands the reality and sums up how embarrassing Ameobi was yesterday.

Shearer declaring ‘No, I’m not happy…I’m exactly the same as the (rest of the) Newcastle fans because Rafa has not been given the ammunition to take the club forward.’

Alan Shearer can see the same as the rest of us, Mike Ashley is totally undermining his manager and the squad, and it isn’t by accident.

Alan Shearer talking on Match of the Day:

“No, I’m not happy (about what has happened at Newcastle).

“I’m exactly the same as the (rest of the) Newcastle fans because Rafa has not been given the ammunition to take the club forward.

“Again, Newcastle are in profit in this transfer window, around about £23m.

“Plus, for finishing 10th last year you get about £123m (in TV/Premier League prize money).

“I think Rafa Benitez will stay at the club until the end of the season, and there is no doubt about it that he will review it, because at times he must think it is an impossible job.

“At least we now all know where all the money has gone in Newcastle, which sort of sums the football club up under this owner.

“He did a magnificent job (last season), in December I think Newcastle were in the bottom three, so to get them to 10th position.

“There’s no doubt about it, that Mike Ashley will be looking and thinking: ‘What is all that fuss about? I’m making all this money. I’ve got a magnificent manager there and he’s getting us to 10th position’.”

Shola Ameobi speaking on Sky Sports on Saturday:

“You look at the amounts of money you need to pay to buy superstars now….Mike Ashley has come out and said he hasn’t got the funds to do that…to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.

“He is a businessman, and unfortunately for the Newcastle fans, he wants to run his business in a way that is sustainable.

“Credit to Mike Ashley…because you look at the likes of Aston Villa, and these clubs who are struggling financially.

“The one thing that Mike Ashley has done for Newcastle over these last ten years, is to stabilise the club – where the club is running itself and we’ve got no debt.

“That’s credit to Mike Ashley but obviously fans of a football team want to progress year on year, they want to see big players.

“We can be quietly happy with our business…”

  • robbersdog

Shola was always a bit of a tool.

    • ghostrider

      Errrrm, no he wasn’t.

      • Anita kick up the Hoop

        Of corse he was

        • ghostrider

          No he wasn’t.

          • gordon

😂 I get a more reasoned argument from my 5-year old niece man

          • ghostrider

Well make sure you don’t block her when she wipes the floor with your arguments.

          • gordon

like you!!!!?? ahahahaha Trump levels of self-delusion🤣

          • ghostrider

            Thanks.

          • gordon

You’re welcome – always happy to help out with a bit of friendly advice

          • ghostrider

No problem and give my best wishes to Julie.

          • gordon

Sorry mate lost me there – I went out with a lass called Julie 30 years ago but I’d almost forgotten about her – please elaborate on your incoherent ramblings – I’m genuinely curious!

          • ghostrider

            Jilted John.

          • gordon

Wow haven’t heard that one since I was on a school trip to Bamburgh Castle in 1978! Not just hilarious but contemporary as well. How will I ever cope with the shame of such a roasting – I’m torn between crying at the pain and marvelling at your incomparable wit – oh woe is me

          • ghostrider

            Nice one.

          • gordon

Thank you – now I’m off for my dinner – cheerio

          • gordon

P.S. if you want to know where Bamburgh Castle is, it’s located on the north-east coast about 30-40 miles north of Newcastle – that’s about 150 miles north-east of Manchester. You should pay a visit to the region – nice area with friendly people

        • gordon

‘The man is a goon who thinks that making the final comment in a thread means he has won the argument.’

This is from a comment I made another thread. Seriously, ignore him as he will happily sit here 24/7 doing this. He’s like a feckin 5 year old.

      • Ron

You’re right not as good as a tool.

        • ghostrider

Only a tool when the times right eh?
And weirdly the time is right because he backed Ashley.

He also agreed with certain things the fans said but overall I’m sure he has more legitimate inside info than speculative fans….right?

          • Ron

I never liked him as a player, and as a pundit he has lost his integrity.

          • Kneebotherm8

As a pundit he makes Merson look articulate…..

          • Ron

Not quite but know what you mean

          • ghostrider

I liked him as a player but I wouldn’t say he was a top player.
I certainly wouldn’t have played him as first choice but a good Mackem slayer and loyal to the cause and always ready when fit to try and do a job.

Not to mention his invaluable presence around the club and even in terms of helping his own brother attempt to make it.

No world beater but no disgrace either.
As for integrity as a pundit. When Ashley is hated by those that hate him then nobody will have any kudos who says anything positive in his favour.

Nature of the beast that is the frenzied fan I suppose.

          • Ron

When Ashley is hated by those that hate him then nobody will have any kudos who says anything positive in his favour, THAT’S BECAUSE IT’S TRUE. Loss of integrity, yes he scored against the mackems and yes he scored against others, Still not a good player and I still never liked him.

      • panther

        yes he was

    • SuperDesHamilton

Remember him on mtv cribs ‘I like hats’ 😂😂😂😂

      Thicker than a whale omelette

    • Jimmy_toons

He called the police reporting his flat in Jesmond had been turned over, only to admit after plod checked it over that he’d just left his place in such a mess. Pea brain

  • ghostrider

When Alan Shearer runs the club he can do all the things that Ashley can’t, or won’t and hopefully catapult the club into whatever position the fans deem fit…and himself of course.
To do that he needs to wear the shoes.

It’s easy to talk about and so hard to do.
Shearer will not rock the fans boat. He’s a legend and he will go with the flow.
To do otherwise would render him as a target of fan discontent.

Look how quickly the fans turn on their legends for speaking their minds in favour of the club and/or Ashley.

Shearer is by far the best loved legend as it stands. Why would he even rock the boat one iota?
He may believe everything he’s saying because Ashley didn’t give him what he wanted at the time.

Shearer basically holds a massive grudge against Ashley and it’s aiding him in his summing up of anything about the club as far as fan discontent is.

As long as the majority of fans keep on at Ashley, Shearer will echo them.
Do I blame him for not having his own say like Shola?
No I don’t, because I love the bloke and he’s got a life to live with his family and is a legend and revered.
He knows how difficult it would be for him if he gives too much praise to Ashley..

    • SuperDesHamilton

You’re having a mare today like

      • ghostrider

        I’m doing just fine.

        • SuperDesHamilton

You’re contrary acts coming across a bit desperate today

          • Kenny

            He’s a scummy troll 🤡

          • gordon

He’s feckin hilarious man – so easy to wind up. His arguments are predictable and so full of holes it’s just too easy.

          • SuperDesHamilton

A dunno what to think. At first I thought he was just a mentally ill fan but now it seems he just deliberately chooses the opposite of everything

          • ghostrider

            I’d say yours is frantic.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Just pointing you up in the right direction

    • gordon

Hahahaha I unblocked you especially so I could see what garbage you come out with this time. I know, I know I told FatController to block or ignore you but this takes the biscuit even by your puerile standards. So Shearer is currying favour with the fans when he would otherwise be praising Ashley is he; this, despite you also claiming ‘Shearer basically holds a massive grudge against Ashley’. Feckin hilarious. That’s a contradiction in terms that even outweighs your usual drivel. Get help – you obviously have fatmanbendoverphilia

      • ghostrider

        Nope.
I’m not saying Shearer should be praising Ashley. Did you not read what I said?
Have another read or put me back on fake ignore whilst telling the fat controller that you control him. lol

        • Ben Jones

          Haha

          • Kenny

Do you spit or swallow when you blow Fat Mick
            Yuk 🐁🤡

          • Ben Jones

If you really thought yuk you wouldn’t have probed me for an answer

        • gordon

I never said I control the fat controller – did you not read what I said? Have another read whilst I consider blocking you again. The great thing about block is you can pick and choose when to use it – when I can’t be arsed with your drivel I block you – when I feel making you look like a tit I unblock you. Simples, very easy to do with a modicum of IT knowledge and half a brain

          • ghostrider

            Ok lol.
When you start feeling all hot and bothered make sure you put your block on.

          • gordon

I smoke lots of weed fella so the only time I get hot and bothered is when I’m with my ladyfriend – do you know what one of those is? If the answer to that is yes maybe you should pay her some attention instead of sitting on here 24/7 – just a friendly suggestion like.

          • ghostrider

You’re a right stud you are. How can I keep up with weed smoking and lady friends from Thailand when I’m sat in my mammy’s basement in my Y fronts and grey/white gravy stained vest on, wearing well worn Roman sandals.
            Guffaw guffaw.

          • gordon

Stud nah my motto is get in, get out, causing as little fuss as possible in the meantime. Good description of yourself though – exactly how most people on here have you pictured in their mind’s eye – did you have to look in the mirror for pointers?

          • ghostrider

My mate went to Thailand and he said the same.
He said, leave your mates and get in and out causing as little fuss as possible, then just deny anything happened if your mates ask why you smell of mandate. Hahahaha.

        • gordon

Where did I say you had said Shearer should praise Ashley – learn to read clever lad (as you have advised others to do on many occasions) you’re really struggling to cover up your rambling inconsistencies today – being trolled back getting you a little bit rattled perhaps?

          • ghostrider

            No, I’m fine thanks.

          • Wezza

He is one of the two manchester brothers. They feed on winding people up. No Newcastle fan would defend Ashley.

          • Jezza

No Newcastle fan would hate Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan either.

          • Wezza

Monkseaton keeps insisting he is real so I may call his bluff. Only thing is nobody has heard of him!

      • Angelswithdirtyfaces

How do you block people on disqus ? I’m fed up with the paid correspondents on here too, spouting the Ashley line regardless.

    • panther

Did you just infer Shola was a legend? he only turned up wen his contract was running down

      • Kneebotherm8

        Fckn Leg End…….

      • ghostrider

        I don’t think I did.
regardless, he was loyal and genuine black and white irrespective of whether he wasn’t a world beater.

When he hung up his boots I didn’t see a bad word against him. All good stuff with a little bit of fun banter.

Agree with Ashley and he’s everything of the devils spawn.
        Some fans are absolutely frenzied.

        • panther

          or right

    • Mirandinha9

Special K is revered the most by the fans and he well and truly kicked your hero’s behind in Court. The regime that ‘deliberately and intentionally misled’ the Manager and fans..

      • ghostrider

He got his wages paid up by the court and that’s that.
That was a win for him but overall his claim for compensation other than that was dismissed, meaning he didn’t kick Ashley’s behind.

I’ll tell you what though….he had every intention of messing up the club (not Ashley personally)with the claim he made.

        • Mirandinha9

Strange how you have ill feeling for Special K when your hero, Cashley, labelled him later as a ‘magnificent man’ and apologised for how he was treat. Your hero makes many mistakes, but, you dont cross Special K.

          • ghostrider

I have little time for Keegan for what he tried to do to Newcastle United. Let’s get this straight.
This isn’t about Ashley with Keegan.
If he’d have took his wages and walked out then I’d have accepted it…but he wanted to screw over the club in a time of transition.

Ashley’s biggest mistake ever in his entire life was appointing Keegan and probably promising him aid in getting his team together.
I’m speculating here but I bet Ashley’s panicked when Keegan’s shown him what he really wanted.
Keegan was a dreamer and I’m willing to bet that Keegan thought a billionaire would recreate his entertainer years where he could entice whoever he wanted to the club.

I loved Keegan as a player for us and as a manager first time round. I won’t forget him for that and nor will I play any of it down just because of what I think now.
But that is a cut off point to me and the latter part of his tenure at Newcastle ensured he went right down in my estimation of him since then and to this very day.

He tried to turn this club into a mess with his demands but luckily the judge saw through him and threw it out but awarded him his wages for constructive dismissal.

          • Mirandinha9

Special K kicked your hero’s derrière. You’ve just expanded energy stating your futile argument

  • SuperDesHamilton

Shola stole a career from loving from Newcastle he wasn’t loyal, how can you be loyal if no other club wants you?

    • Paul Patterson

Played at the club for at least five years too long. Him and Steven Taylor got away with it because they were from the area. Which shouldn’t mask the fact they were both average at best . .

      • SuperDesHamilton

Exactly, Steve Harper as well. Because their local they play on that to their advantage. But Shola like Taylor was always injured as well I wonder if you can see how many games they missed

      • panther

Shola used to prove himself rather decent when he needed a new contract

        • SuperDesHamilton

Always fit, running around a few goals…when his contract was coming to an end

    • Kneebotherm8

Correct…..how he got as many contracts here is a mystery……he certainly had no other options….

      • SuperDesHamilton

People talking about his community work but maybe I’m cynical, do you think he did that & went an extra mile to get said contracts? It’s not like he would of broke the bank to keep around

Plus he slept with his best friends wife on a family holiday in Spain

        • Kneebotherm8

His punditry career needs to end now……..an embarrassment….and not only because of his comments on Ashley……
He was always the cheapie option for Ashley as far as contracts were concerned as a back up striker in the squad…….just about summing our ambition under this owner…

          • SuperDesHamilton

Cheap & easy, doesn’t rock the boat a proper yes Man. Ashley’s preferred type exactly

        • MrShack66

Wasn’t he gonna sign for Ipswich?

          • SuperDesHamilton

I’m not sure I’d doubt anyone would sign him if they had a choice of other players

  • Paul Patterson

People who hold the club in high regard will always tell it like it is. The likes of Shearer, Lee, Keegan and Ferdinand etc. The rest are just out to stick the boot in. Parasites!

    • Leazes.

Rob Lee backed Ashley when he did a stint as pundit for Sky as well.

Shearer only came off the fence recently, despite the deliberate provocation of having his name ripped from the Strawberry Place bar…. that was so obviously aimed at him….. that’s what this owner does

    • Tweed Mag

Exactly. There is a trend for second-rate hacks, past-it pundits and average nobodies to be recruited to defend the pantomime villain and his practices. Who next? There are some real knackers defending Ashley.

  • Anita kick up the Hoop

Shola cheated a living out of us as a player .. his job at Sky is probably down to Ashley’s relationship with the broadcaster .. cash in Shola

    • Hughie_Gallacher

Home in on the idiots. They’ll never let you down. Intelligence on Sky? Perish the thought!

  • Billmag

He also said buying into HoF isn’t going to get you points, well said Al what a difference from Shola’s sickly patter.

    • Kneebotherm8

He also said he now knew where the £123 million 10th place prize money, from last season, and the £23 million transfer profit this window went……HoF purchase….

  • Christopher Smeaton

I think Shola immediately regretted what he said. Watch it back and you can see it on his face. He was either asked to put something together for balance, or the nerves of having the stage got the better of him and he just regurgitated the same old [email protected] that gets bandied about on the Sky Sports platforms.

What he said was wrong but I won’t crucify a loyal servant to the club- and no disrespect to any reading but footballers don’t exactly have a reputation for speaking intelligently.

    • Kneebotherm8

Shola could hardly string two words together………hope the general population don’t think all Geordies are like that………hopeless……….on the other hand Shearer on MotD told it like it is in a sensible intelligible way…….Ameobi can only be described as garbled……

    • ghostrider

I don’t think Shola would have regretted what he said but I do think he knew he was placed in a situation that he would not get out of with everything intact, whether that’s his status among the hating fans or the club who employ him and pay his wages.

Whether fans hate Ashley or not, they should accept that ex players will always be placed on the spot.
I’d guarantee you right now that no player under contract at Newcastle United or directly paid because of it would be publicly slagging off the owner,

Any ex player who has no other ties to the club other than being fan revered will naturally follow the majority of fans, no matter what.

    • panther

he wasnt loyal, he knew he wouldnt get a contract anywhere else

      • Jezza

Spot on. It’s not as if he turned down moves to the likes of Liverpool, Manchester or Barcelona. He would have gone to Ipswich but for a failed medical. He couldn’t even get that right.

    • Leazes.

He lives in Jesmond….he knows what has been happening to the club over the Ashley years….. It cant be stupidity!

      • Christopher Smeaton

In that case Leazes I can only assume he had been prepped to tow a line.

    • Jezza

Shola was never a loyal servant to the club. He was never good enough to play for NUFC but he worked his ticket and sucked up to successive managers to string out a very long career at St James’s Park that he never deserved. Kevin Keegan knew the score and tried to ship him out to Ipswich but Shola failed the medical, he couldn’t even get that right.

In reality Shola wasn’t loyal to NUFC. It was the other way round. NUFC were very loyal to Shola.

  • Monkseaton Magpies

Shearer should have been giving us credit for the way we played yesterday not stiring things up as usual. Rafa has said the window is shut let’s stick together and do the job in hand. Wish Shearer could understand that. However he even packed his box in as he is not a proper supporter and his mates prefer golf or his son Rugby

    • Angelswithdirtyfaces

Total B****x. If anyone has a right to comment on the shambles that Ashley’s management style has left us in, its Al.

    • Nufc spider

Monkey you are a total plonker, you should getting to know the facts before spouting off, the reason he’s packed his box in is for the same reason a lot of us fans have cancelled our season tickets [email protected]@king idiot.

      • Wezza

He is believed to be one of the Lee brothers, who are Man Utd fans. They get off on winding people up. Listen to this alias… claims Rafa still gets every penny. That is pure trolling right there. Fact. Best to block and ignore them as it hurts them not getting any attention. Their mother must not have paid too much attention to them at a young age. Who could blame her.

        • Tin foil hat brigade.

Why didn’t you get yourself to the bulls yesterday to meet monkseaton? You lot don’t want to believe the truth that he isn’t a lee brother you raving lunatic! Who’s the real trolls on the mag?! I think you’ll find that’s you and your lot.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Yes waited two hours twenty minutes and not one of them showed. Was really proud yesterday but will be happier when Lejeune is back. Good new is that Kenedy now fully fit to last a whole game.

          • Wezza

I was busy Mr troll guest upvote. I’ll be happy to meet him in the monkseaton arms though… doubt he will want to come from Manchester though. Sad troll.

          • KRS1

I don’t care where Mongseaton lives, bottom line is he is a c#nt

        • TheFatController

I suspect they weren’t allowed to get angry as children, so now try to make other’s angry as its shaming and is the only outlet for their anger – given they feel shame if they get angry themselves.

That’s the usual psychology of trolling – find people’s pressure buttons and push them, when they get angry it proves the troll is superior as he never gets angry (reality is they’re just not comfortable with their own angry feelings)

Only of course they’re angry, their parents just shamed it. You can’t shame an emotion that occurs in us all naturally and is sometimes helpful as a motivating factor.

it’s an illness of repression – we should pity them therefore.

          • Wezza

            Very good analysis mate.

        • SuperDesHamilton

Do you add anything other than this rubbish?

          • Ben Jones

            Haha

          • SuperDesHamilton

You see Leazes Christ’s latest on the newest article, he’s beyond creepy

      • Monkseaton Magpies

He says he is a supporter he is not his friends play golf and his son likes rugby he should not lie. Rafa has asked for backing Shearer is a militant.

        • Paul Patterson

Shearer has met Rafa so there is backing and respect there.

        • MrShack66

His son goes to a posh school so of course he’ll prefer rugby.

        • Patrick Harty

What’s wrong with his son liking rugby? I know lots of Mags who follow the Falcons first and the Toon second. It isn’t a problem with Shearer chucking his box in, maybe he was fed up putting money in the Fat Controller’s pockets unlike all those stupid twats who bought new shirts just to help him buy the House of Fraser.

    • molend

Credit for the way we play is a losing mentality. We lost; they won. It’s not synchronized knitting where you get marks for style. Tell me our matching underwear was classier than theirs and I’ll believe you. But we still lost.

      • Monkseaton Magpies

We were the better team even some Spurs fans said it but you hate Newcastle with a passion so you would agree with Shearer who never goes to games.

        • molend

Better/schmetter. We lost. And notice I said ‘we’. Whatever your views, you have no right to tell a life-long fan that he ‘hates Newcastle with a passion’. That comment says a great deal more about you than it does about me.

          • Jezza

The only people on this forum who hate NUFC are those two Manchester supporting trolls.

        • SuperDesHamilton

          We lost monk.

    • Dingus

      F**k Shola. And f**k you. Troll c**t

    • KRS1

      F#ck off and die!

  • Mrkgw

I’m disappointed in Shola. Thought better of thim than to do that. To defend the indefencible is conpletely unforgivable. He could apologise to us but what slim chance of that?

    • Foggy

What reasons do you have to think better of him? He clearly isn’t the brightest bulb on the tree.

  • Desree

Er we are in 144m quid of debt

    • Leazes.

Yes two relegations from Ashleys mismanagement did that…. we should charge him!

      • TheFatController

So let me get this right, you’re saying the relegations cost us, he spent his own money to save his investment to get promoted , and added it to his own debt?

And you object to people saying it’s the club’s debt, as that’s ludicrous because if everyone stopped supporting NUFC tomorrow they’d not be chased by Ashley to pay off the debt, him saying ‘you were a supporter, you can’t just leave the club without paying off some debt’ ..?

If you’re saying that, then you’re spot on.

        • James Hopkins

But he has added to the so called debt twice when we have been relegated. so in reality he has added to try and cover for incompetence.

        • Sickandtired

He spent his own money? Well, correct in one way – he ‘loaned’ £29 mil personal money due to relegation 1. he repaid himself £11 mil of that in 2012. He repaid himself the remaining £18 million in Dec ’16 – via another loan (relegation 2) from his St James Holdings company.
So, he got all of his personal money back, but £18 mil of that is added to the club debt – all £144 million of it company loans, not personal ones.
He will get every penny back (including the £18 mill again) when he sells because of that.

      • Wezza

Now David Lee is trolling on guests asking why I didn’t meet him at the 3 Bulls… I had no idea I agreed to such meeting! This saddo doesn’t know when to give up and move on.

    • Foggy

When you rob Peter to pay Paul you’ll never get the so-called debt down. But that is intentional on the fat [email protected]’s part.

  • Paul Cannell

Alan Shearer 1 shola the crawler 0

    • Monkseaton Magpies

Rafa has asked the fans to get behind the club Shearer is not a fan nor is his family so now he is the enemy slagging us off against Rafa’s wishes.

      • Paul Patterson

S**t scared of Shearer, you’re s**t scared of Shearer!!

        • Monkseaton Magpies

I am not and would meet him any time as he is anti Newcastle.

          • Pilot of Japan

That’s just not true, my friend.

      • Paul Cannell

hahaha shut up you stupid troll.

      • MrShack66

Although I know you’re not one of the (fabled) Lee brothers. You are 100% wrong. He is a fan and so is his family.

        • Wezza

‘ you’re not one of the (fabled) Lee brothers.’
          and you know this because?

          • MrShack66

He’s too knowledgeable about certain people who lives in the Monkseaton area.

          • Wezza

Of course you are… I mean he is.
            Blocked.

          • MrShack66

            ??

          • Jezza

All details gleaned from extensive research on media social platforms. Those two brothers are very good at that.

        • SuperDesHamilton

People like wezza have bought into this conspiracy that 2 brothers from Manchester have spent 10 years on various Newcastle boards 😂😂😂

You’ll be blocked next for daring to disagree

        • Monkseaton Magpies

Well why do they not go to games.

          • Oldgeordie

Probably because he is working on Match of the day.

          • Oldgeordie

Might also ask “Why doesn’t Ashley?”

      • Cockneytrev

        Ashley hoop licker👅👅

      • Lakeland Mag

        Idiot

      • KRS1

        C#nt

  • chris

Shola ,the club is in more debt now cos it owowes ashley 144 million or so. The money he has trouser ed would compete with most of the premier league. He competes with none. He has made nufc look small . The charity shop of the football world. I bet if he had said he was down grading shola pay the way he has rafa transfer budget he would be saying fair play. But then again he is not a real geordie like alan.and if he sucks up to sky’s favourite club owner sky might give him a good job. Let’s dace it he never done much at the toon. He was worse than joselu.

    • MrShack66

No matter what his opinion is he’s 100% Geordie.

      • Cockneytrev

No he’s not,, born in Nigeria, moved to Newcastle when he was five,,,

        • MrShack66

Really? Being a bit pedantic there.

          • Cockneytrev

No I’m not, he was born in Nigeria and lived there until he was 5, he didn’t speak English until he moved here,, so he’s not 100% Geordie and nowhere near it,,

          • MrShack66

            I’m guessing you’re not too.

      • chris

He is Nigerian he was born there. How can he be a geordie.

        • MrShack66

He’s lived here since he was 5, went to Heaton Manor and has a Geordie accent. How is he not?

          • chris

If I move to Nigeria and lived there for 50 year I would still be a geordie. Still be a brit. This idea that anyone who comes to the uk is immediately british is all wrong. God if I was from another country I would be frighten to come to the uk for a holiday. I would go home with a British passport. Surely there is enough geordie we don’t need to fabricate more

          • chris

Also if you walk past Heaton manner you will see not all the kids are geordie. They come from all over and have their own identity

          • MrShack66

I know Chinese and Pakistani lads who consider themselves as English and Geordie. Not all of them were born here but all have Geordie accents. So we have to decipher who was born here before we can class them as locals. Heed a shake man.

          • MrShack66

So his brother and sister are Geordies but he ain’t? Whatevs.

          • chris

No they aren’t either. You sound like some libreal luvvy to me. Maybe you should love all Nigerians they are lovely people and have lots of room in there country for you. I am sure you will.have a happy life there and can call yourself Nigerian.

          • MrShack66

What a great idea bucketofpiss. I’m sure there’re lots of lovely Nigerians. As I’m also sure there’ll be some who are the equivalent of you.

Ps. Learn to differentiate between “there” and “their”. It’ll make all the different to your nonsensical rambles.

          • chris

            Toss pot

          • MrShack66

If you moved there aged 5 I doubt you’d consider yourself a Geordie. Although we can never know. I really don’t agree with his opinions over MA but I do believe he is a Geordie.

  • Shipcote Willy

Sheer ignorance of the facts by Shola. Well done big Al for telling it like it is on national TV

  • Down Under Mag

Stabilised the club – two relegations.
No debt – 144m as an interest free loan which Ashley wants back when/if he sells
Club is running itself – it would if the manager were allowed to spend the money being generated but to turn a profit in the last window and see none of the TV money tells a very different story.

Shola clearly aiming for a job with Sky or on the club coaching staff. Shocked that an ex player from the region can be so clueless and completely out of touch.

  • Sickandtired

Shola needs to take a look at a dictionary and understand what ‘stability’ actually means.
The club makes a profit? So F’n what! It does the football team no good whatsoever, and that is the business it is in. Competitive football, to try and win things and entertain supporters.
What was stable about the KK saga? Or appointing a line of idiots like Jimenez, Wise, Llambias, Kinnear, Pardew, Carver, McClaren? What was stable about the payout’s they all got?
What’s stable about never signing the players the team needs? What’s stable about failing to grow the clubs commercial revenue in 11 years, or depriving it of advertising and merchandising revenues?
What’s stable about removing the only realistic opportunity of expanding the ground – so the owner can develop the land for his own profit without giving the club a penny for it?
What’s stable about being relegated twice and narrowly avoiding it two more times?
What’s stable about now having massive never decreasing debt owed to Ashley’s companies, instead of at least a mortgage free ground (it was scheduled to be fully repaid by 2016)?
What’s stable about an owner and MD who never speak to the fans or press – unless it’s a set-up job for their own benefit?
What’s stable about jerking around and lying to a world class Manager?

  • Mike

Class long may it continue well done Shearer
