I normally post articles pre-transfer window, hoping it will be different this time.

However, can’t wait until December because I’m a bit confused.

I can understand Mike Ashley getting his mates to contradict the obvious – he has a stable of old cronies for both his football and Sports Direct decisions.

Then Ashley pops up with his own honest misunderstood friend of the people interview on Sky Sports, or appearance at parliamentary committees .

What I don’t understand is, who Mike Ashley is trying to influence, and why?

At Newcastle United, all supporters know what he is and what he stands for, I emphasise supporters both in and outside the area.

We all know Rafa makes mistakes, we also know he genuinely respects the club and supporters, and we are bloody sure he is the best manager we are going to get.

I have honestly never sought out the opinions of his minions, or himself, and don’t know another fan who has, but think they are all entitled to have them.

But who is that they are trying to influence, it’s confusing, the entire purpose appears to be to aggravate the mob to gratify Mike Ashley.

It’s not even pandering to a disgruntled minority of toon supporters who are not being given a fair shout.

I know we live in a world, where sad yes men agree with the most powerful man in the world to feed the bias of 25% of the population, but it appears this happens at Newcastle United to simply feed the ego/delusions of one man .

In Rafa we trust.

Ashley is and has influenced the non local media to present him as a benefactor to Newcastle United. The current Bishop plot is to try and maintain that pretence. The lie has kept Ashley in a position while he extracts as much as he can from the club. However that does not mean he will sell up if discovered.

If you listened to the true-faith podcast on soundcloud named ‘Rangers fans v Mike Ashley: what mags can learn’ you will find insight to how Ashley operates. It will tell you that even once Ashley is gone we will be paying him for years and years.

Ashley wants to keep the status quo and won’t be bullied to change. It has taken fat Mike a long time to get NUFC running like Shirebrook so that it prints money for him. He has had the local press doing his dirty work for years. The comical have sold the lie that Ashley has saved us from meltdown which is patently untrue. However he knows journalists are lazy and won’t interrogate plain facts when presented.

Why are Wise/Grey/Keys/Allerdyce/ etc etc even consulted about Newcastle? They irk the fans and that gets you publicity. beIN sports are using that model to drive viewers. Ashley uses them to propagate propaganda. Giving air to them (like the Mag does) is self defeating.

    • Carverlier football

The onerous long-term contracts which he has undoubtedly tied us up in will be just one of the reasons putting off potential buyers. The only way to be rid of him is to make him a motivated seller – keep targetting and disrupting SD until the trouble of owning NUFC outweighs the benefit

    • Big Hairy Man

You would think that if Ashley and Bishop were going to use people for their PR/Smear campaign they would choose people with some credibility. Wise/Gray/Keys/Allardyce, Do me a favour! One convicted of assault, one fraudster and a pair of sex pests.

      • FatParosite

Where did I say Ashley is using Wise/Gray/Keys/Allardyce for credibility?

        • Big Hairy Man

I think a slight misunderstanding here. I am totally agreeing with your post. The discredited quartet should be nowhere near a tv studio.

          • FatParosite

Like I say in my post Wise/Gray/Keys/Allardyce are there as paid for support of Ashley. Fat Mike knows fine well they could not win a credibility test but unfortunately some media outlets use Wise/Gray/Keys/Allardyce as voices to gain viewers and the vicious cycle perpetuates.

My retort was not an argumentative one. It was to point out that as pundits they are there to flog the idea that Ashley is doing well. It still seems to be sticking despite many good writers signposting the obvious self inflicted errors Ashley is making year on year.

  • TheFatController

Ashley, clearly to anyone with the merest understanding or personality, has a thin skin.

I often says this on here, and get a few replying ‘he doesn’t care, he’s thick skinned, he has no fragile ego’

Then you see a specific group of people paid to tell us he’s ‘misunderstood’, ‘a great businessman’ , deserves respect’

Well, the minute you get into a situation where you need people to explain why you deserve respect, you confirm two things:-
    – one, you should either give up or change something drastically to make sure you are respected or don’t suffer more disrespect
    – two, you’re a fragile little thing clearly upset you’re not getting respected despite being disrespectful at every turn.

Surely we all know that the people who moan the most are often the biggest offenders with what they moan about?

Ashley cronies moan about a lack of respect towards a man who disrespects everybody he can get away with disrespecting. He wants the UK and world to know he doesn’t deserve disrespect from us and Rafa. That’s his audience.

  • Leicester Mag

The analogy of Trump is compelling. Both are narcissists and bullies. Incapable of accepting criticism or even alternative views they surround themselves with a cabal of weak yes men happy for patronage, too weak to listen to even to their own soul. Every legal means needs to be explored to batter his febral ego

    • gordon

Totally agree. It’s interesting that every Ashley supporter I have met (all three of them!) has also been a massive Trump fan. I honestly think there is some sort of psychological condition which makes grown people worship psychopathic, narcissistic liars. It’s bizarre.

      • Carverlier football

I’m surprised you found three of them…

        • gordon

Only one of them was a Newcastle fan!

        • Ron

          Only one and 3 masks

      • Monkseaton Magpies

Not a Trump fan but he seems to get things done and not waffle on.
Look at our lot over Brexit a total shambles.

        • gordon

Trump doesn’t waffle on!!! Barely a word that comes out of his mouth makes sense and 70% of EVERYTHING he says is a lie (this stat has been verified). What about this quote after pulling out of the climate agreement “I guarantee you America will have the best air, tremendous air, better air than anybody else’s air”. Ffs man. It’s a curious thing about democracy that we keep voting for feckin psychopaths!

          • Ron

Can’t be doing any trumping with air that good!

        • gordon

And if I hear any more about feckin Brexit I think I’ll feckin explode. Am I the only person who couldn’t give a rat’s @ss one way or the other as either way has little to no tangible effect on my everyday life. A load of feckin nonsense wasting everyones time obsessing about which particular bunch of [email protected] is going to tell us what to do. Feckin sick to death of it

          • Leazes.

It will effect you when it takes effect….. food, holidays, income, quality goods, house prices, increased centralisation of power to the South East…… our region isn’t part of the Mid-Pennine Industrial hub as much as the Westminster parliament says it is.

          • gordon

That all just looks like more of the same to me. I guarantee you, whatever the outcome of Brexit, our lives will carry on the same and we will barely notice the difference in the things that we do each day. Everything I hear is just short-term outdated thinking in a world that is changing faster than most realise. Consider this, in the next 30-50 years 50-75% of all jobs will be wiped out by automation and AI; what do you think will happen when three-quarters of the world’s population can’t feed their families. Carnage that’s what, and yet our esteemed representatives continue to bury their heads in the sand while Silicon Valley executives build fortified compounds in the desert! Brexit pah!

          • Leazes.

There is only so much you can do with automation, and if you watch some of the programmes such as ‘inside the factory’ you’ll see we are already at that point of slaves to machines.

The jobs that can be automated have been.

          • Malcolm Fisher

What the f##k has this to do with nufc and football

          • Monkseaton Magpies

If you were intelligent it affects the cost of living, inflation, wages and more important unemployment. The pound is only worth 1.10 Euro and could go down further with a massive impact on the economy.

        • SuperDesHamilton

He’s literally got nothing done since he’s took charge 😂. Apart from touring all the golf courses of the world

      • Leazes.

What Ashley supporters, there aren’t any?

Even the little grey haired old lady doing her shopping that the BBC seek out for comments is anti-Ashley!

        • gordon

Two of them were brothers who supported Spurs and pretty much everything Trump said. Pair of horrible, miserable little [email protected] who hated everything that wasn’t them basically (white, male working-class with a bit of cash). The other one bought into Ashley at an early stage and has that peculiar human trait of never, ever, under any circumstances being able to accept they might be wrong about something.

          • Leazes.

            That explains it….

    • MadMag83

I’d take Trump over this moron.

      • gordon

We’d probably all have golden toilets to sit on at St. Trump’s Park. Horrifying thought.

      • Leazes.

That is a problem as some people will salute anything you put up a flagpole, halfway, completely down or otherwise.

        • gordon

We should reach out and get them all on board: Trump, Putin and that funny little bloke from North Korea, with God-Emperor Ashley presiding over it all. The likes of Ghostrider and Monkseaton can have a proper [email protected]

          • Leazes.

Ghostrider and monkseaton are the same person.

          • gordon

Surely not – that would imply that the trolls on here not only create different IDs but also create different personalities to go with them. That’s a whole new level of weird. I say this as Ghostrider comes across as a deliberately argumentative [email protected] but nevertheless still with a degree of misguided intelligence while Monkseaton just seems deluded and not that bright really.

          • Leazes.

If its not David its his brother…. I blocked both… whatever

…. one is nasty and loves Elvis and hates Ronnie Campbell and protects the other one who is a rather humourless and suffers from some psychotic disorder and is prone to literal-ism.

          • Monkseaton Magpies

Will put my qualifications next to yours any day of the week and know more about our football club than you ever will do.

          • panther

Qualifications does not equate to intelligence, only idiots think that

          • Viru leckworth

            And in Ashley’s pocket!🤡

          • SuperDesHamilton

Aye another one of your multiple personality’s. Quick put your tin foil hat on the aliens might hear your thoughts!

  • Tweed Mag

The answer to the question in the title of this piece is simple – Ashley does everything for his own benefit. He surrounds himself with sycophants who tell him he is the top man – his money pays for their opinions which in turn provides him with the motivation to do as he pleases. He has no pride in owning NUFC, the club is just a shop window for his tacky SD empire.

    • Kneebotherm8

Of course it is……that’s the sole reason he bought the club in the first place.

      • Tweed Mag

As Workhouse of Fraser is about to be . . .

        • Big Hairy Man

Already he is attacking “greedy landlords” for charging exorbitant rents for his HOS stores. You couldn’t make it up.

  • MadMag83

I wondered this to begin with. However the reaction of some Newcastle fans on Facebook was a little worrying, laying the blame for our negative tactics solely at the door of Benitez (rather than due to a lack of quality with which to take the game to them). Some where even calling for him to be sacked! These weren’t kids either, they were probably the same idiots that got SBR the boot. I fear the Mike Ashley PR nonsense machine may be starting to influence the stupid amongst us.

    • SuperDesHamilton

I saw this, and I was ashamed this is when a realised we’ve got some absolute idiots supporting our club

      • panther

I know, I fell out with a mate this week who still goes to games, wouldn’t come to the demo though, scumbags dead to me

        • SuperDesHamilton

The same ones who wanted Robson sacked after a few games a bet

          • Mrkgw

Well, despite our differences you will be pleased to hear that I wasn’t one of those Desmond. Robson was treated shamefully and I recall the season finale vs wolves (the season before his sacking) and couldn’t believe the fact that the stadium nigh on emptied before the end in disgust. This, because we had drawn 1-1 I think it was. I also remember Speed and Shearer sat in the touchline distraught. We had it good then, make no mistake. But Robson was a legend of a Manager and a collosal loss to our club.

          • SuperDesHamilton

The ones who booed are the type who twist on 21, I can’t remember who we played 1st Match but a remember paddy kluivert getting his first against villa & we got booed off away it was utterly mental. You can’t please some of our fans they’ve got the disease to be pleased

          • Mrkgw

I remember the Villa game when Dyer and Bower came to blows. My boss had gone to get the beers in, missed it and came running back to his seat. And then the Villa supporters waited for their coaches phoning their mates in disbelief. Despite that, good times. Little did we realise how good when you compare with the present. Thats why I’m at odds with current tactics, the regime and so on. Massive contrast.

          • SuperDesHamilton

I got locked up that day that’s how I remember the fight 😂 you notice how everything In football is progressing tactics, training, players, fees, wages yet our club back then was is & probably did spend more then we do now. All because of a certain person

          • Mrkgw

            Ashley out!

          • panther

Nah just a knacker who can’t stop saying support the team not the regime, German soldiers didn’t have a choice

          • SuperDesHamilton

That’s why the regime takes the mick, people like that

    • Viru leckworth

Spot on. If they aren’t the same idiots who called for sir bobs head, then they are the progeny of the same. I think Rafa is playing a canny game, Highlighting the frugal tactics of the owner. Let’s just hope he, and common sense, win.

  • Leazes.

Ashley got through to our local press a dozen years ago, constructing a debt out of an asset…. some of us didn’t buy into the myth, but Mark Douglas and Lee Ryder did, and they sold that lie to the southern press and reinforced it.

Even this year they (Chronicle) got a compliant accountant to verify there was a debt but failed to show what it was…. a construction of the bill for the stadium which would have been paid off by 2016 and bills for wages cause by Ashley relegating the club twice in a frantic attempt to throw money at getting his brands back on the screens!

Problem is accountants will look at it and say yes its all above board…. it has to balance…. its down to amortisation and what is deliberately construed as debt.

Why is Ashley using journalists to keep up the facade when he’s stripped everything from the club?…… its beyond me I can only presume its to keep the nonsense going indefinitely…. but now there are cracks developing with the local press.

If I were a journalist I’d go for an interview with Shola Ameobi and ask him directly ‘who put him up for the defence of Ashley’…and why did he betray United!

The journalists aren’t aiming at changing United’s fans perception of Ashley….. this owner is now permanently absent…they aren’t winning any debates with anyone with false claims, It all smacks of a long drawn out revenge for chasing the trio of Ashley Wise and Llambias all the way to the Emirates ten years ago…..

    …….attempting to polish a turd….nah I don’t think so!

Revenge…. a stripped out club….Advertising, Merchandising, Land and now the squad….

Why does the Chairman Hide from everyone?

    We know why!

  • Foggy

Stick to writing around the transfer deadline. This was a waste of your time and mine.

    • Viru leckworth

Rudeness for the sake of it. If you don’t like the material don’t read it.

  • Jonathan

    The answer is:
Ashley plays to the National Media/Other Supporters, nothing he or his cronies say are directed at Us except as a secondary purpose to wind us up.
Rafa plays directly to Us, the messages are directed to us ie: keep up the fight, we both understand what is going on at the club and I am here to help you.
The biggest disappointment to me is the Local Media who are weak and spineless, I assume they have been bought off in some way by Mike Ashley.
Final Point: Most of us love Rafa because a) he is a top class manager and b) he ‘gets’ the club. We have not had one of these since Robson (possible exception of Hughton but he has not yet a real ‘top class’ manager as much as I admire him).
Rest assured any new manager will fall down on one of these 2 criterias.

  • Capt P

First time I’ve posted for a while so be gentle. I said 5 seasons ago that the biggest problem with Newcastle is the fans. Shocker I know but as long as 52k attend on match days NOTHING will ever change.

As much as I applaud all the efforts of Sports Redirect and If Rafa goes…. and blogs like this, as long as the fans show up at every home game, every effort to make changes is wasted, have a demo outside then go and watch the match???. 5 years later and nothings changed, these blog’s are full of comments about Ashley, sorry fella’s but I’m sure him and his sheep don’t read them.

Imagine, our next televised home game and there are more empty seats that full ones, there’d still be 15k – 20k at the game, some will be “supporting the team, not the regime” which is [email protected] btw, HOW could Ashley’s cronies explain that away.

I’m sure that would be a bigger talking point than the match itself, Ashley would hate having to explain that one away, imagine if it happened twice or three times??or anytime we were on Sky, how much of a hammer blow would that be to SD and to Ashley’s sheep

  • Mrkgw

Ashley punishes the supporters because he simply can. It appears to rankle, the fact that they have dared to question his motives. We need him out and credit to those protesting against this awful regime. ASHLEY OUT!
