Spurs fans have had plenty to say ahead of their trip to Newcastle on Saturday.

Newcastle fans might not have seen much money spent as Mike Ashley clicked up a £20m+ profit on summer transfers – but there was plenty movement in and out in terms of numbers, even though Rafa was replying on loans, free transfers and signings at the bargain end of things.

In contrast, Tottenham have bought nobody and sold nobody.

Going into the opening match, the Spurs fans main focus is on lack of transfers and which of their World Cup stars will play.

Newcastle supporters are often accused of going over the top but Tottenham supporters are looking pretty special with some of their comments.

Yes they haven’t bought anybody but they haven’t sold any either and this Spurs squad did finish third last season AND there is the small matter of them having nine players who were good enough to be involved in the final weekend of the World Cup finals.

However, nice to hear the Spurs fans are worried ahead of Saturday, here’s hoping their fears are justified.

Spurs fans comment via their top Fighting Cock message board:

‘Just found out that Toon signed Rondon. Hope he doesn’t bully us like last time.’

‘Think we’ll see maybe 4 of the WC semi finalists or finalists (Lloris, Vertonghen, Dier, Kane) in the starting X1 – in for their skill despite maybe not being match fit after one weeks pre-season training – but playing with 7 players who have had pretty much a full pre-season.’

‘No signings plus a loss to the barcodes and the natives will get restless.’

‘Dreading it. 90% of our first team haven’t had a single min of pre season.’

‘A nice sound thrashing for the horse beaters would be a nice Birthday present.

Kane to break his August duck.’

‘It’s grim, I wouldn’t start Kane.’

‘We need every damn premiership point we can possibly manage.

Kane has to start. I could see Dele being left on the bench though.

We know Lucas and Eriksen are fit. Son will play because he’s healthy and will leave for Asia cup whatever right afterwards- we’ll take his healthy minutes now thank you.’

‘The worst thing that can happen is that we lose this, as some of our fans will immediately blame the lack of transfers for it.’

‘Especially 5-1.’

‘No idea whose going to play…..it’s crazy that we are effectively being punished for having so many successful internationals in the side. Surely the start of the season could have been delayed by a week or two? With that in mind, I’d be happy with any sort of win.’

‘Thankfully we are not away at the goons or dippers, so we won’t be under as much pressure, as good an opposing team as we could have hoped for.’

‘Don’t want to think about the game. Not much to look forward to at present.’

‘Seems all not well in the dressing room (plyares refused to do media duties until bonuses sorted) at Newcastle.’

‘Good stuff- for us. We’ll be needing all the luck we can manage during this injury-pocked start to the season.’

‘Numbers of pairs of tickets now for sale on Twitter from people who can’t make it.

It’s as if there are masses who applied not knowing what weekend the game was to be played.

Or where Newcastle is. Still at least they’ve got their loyalty points…’

‘I heard we forfeit against Newcastle if we don’t sign someone so this is not looking good.’

‘I cannot see why we can’t start Lloris who is a GK so fatigue is nowhere near as strenuous as it is an outfield player and Dembele who was a sub/ backup during the World Cup.

Absolutely no reason why we can’t go with a Lloris Trippier Sanchez Vertonghen Davies, Dier, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane starting lineup with Vorm Aurier Alderweireld Winks/Amos/Skipp/Onomah, Sissoko, Lucas, Llorente selection for the bench with all injuries considered for our first game of the season.

I guess we’ll see Saturday but all really isn’t that bad.’

‘If Poch had confidence in Llorente, Kane might not start. But i know it aint happening.

After the transfer window closes, Poch might need to show better trust on utilization of squad players than ever before.

I am raring to watch the game.’

‘Wanna see a front 3 of Lucas, Kane and Son for this.’

‘Kane with a hat trick to end his August hoodoo.’

‘According to truthworthy sources, it appears we are going to align all our new signings in the starting XI on Saturday.’

‘Glad Toby stuck around for this season, but i don’t think we’ll see any of the English/Belguim/French guys starting. Guessing they’ll make up the bench.’

‘Perhaps we could just play one in midfield; Newcastle are in pretty bad shape.’

I’ll buy into the game when it kicks off and I will come out of the game when the final whistle blows with the hope of a Newcastle win.
Other than that I don’t buy into star players being in or out or pre season being this or that.
Referees can decides games. The ref decided it in Tottenhams favour last time.

All we have to do is to make sure we play 90 plus minutes as best we can and see what the end result is.
I don’t care about the Kane’s or the Alli’s, etc. They have to all perform to get something and their names alone don’t guarantee them anything unless the ref dictates they do.

    • TheFatController

Try writing that again but make sense this time?

      • ghostrider

It’s just lol. It means lots of laughs or laughing out loud. I thought you’ve have got that. But anyway, you know now. lol

    • Ram Kishore

They have enough players to put a starting 11 even if all the WC players are rested or made.into the bench..

    • Ram Kishore

Hoped for filling two more positions LB and CAM but sometimes i wonder the club’s is not even intent on filing those two positions where we have only one player each..
Disappointed at the management..LB and CAM has been a priority and we have been short-handed.. seems like Ashley is forcing Rafa out

      • ghostrider

I would imagine Ashley is forcing Rafa out.
What owner would stick with a manager who refuses to commit?
I’d want him out as well, rather than hand him any big money.

I’d do enough to ensure the club’s stability.
If Rafa chooses to sign a contract from this point then maybe things can progress.

I don’t know the ins and outs of it all and all we can all do is speculate.
I choose not to do it as a hate for Ashley like some fans do. (not directed at you)

        • Ram Kishore

But we could have spent money from the players who were sold (unused or unwanted)
Even if Rafa isn’t commuting it shouldn’t be a reason for nor signing a LB on loan or permanent early… We could have definitely signed a LB on loan sooner or early.
If Fulham can make 5 .. we can do atleast 2 on the deadline..
Those two positions have always been a bit weaker without two players in both position

        • Wor Lass

” … I don’t know the ins and outs of it all ….” Never a truer word …

    • Benmagpie

Agreed. That (insert expletive here) Harry Kane almost crippled lejeine and got away with it because he’s the blue eyed boy. If shelvey had made that tackle he would’ve been sent off and had a three match ban.

  • Toon

These opposition fan bits are stupid, cheap click bait, stick Spurs in the title and it will go on their newsnow page, increases traffic. Imagine if a Spurs website were cheap enough to come on here and use comments written by NUFC fans, it would be easy pickings. Cheap news, cheap website

  • Leazes.

Their club has a billion pound debt, I’m afraid they cant have any more signings for the next decade and will have to have Alan Pardew as a manager, reduce their sights to tenth place because that would mean spending more money on European football…..

…..Oh yes and make sure they are knocked out of the cups in the first round by playing squad players without a bonus scheme. Sell all of your best players because you are too demanding and have had a life of luxury so far, and need a hair shirt for a decade at least.

Will you be emulating the highly successful Ashley model?

    I don t think so.

  • Alan Pardew

It’s difficult – it’s a tough game. I envisage it to be as tough a game as we’ve had all year.

    • Jimblag23

I reckon it’ll be difficult and tough. Also a game.

    • TheFatController

Surely you could give us more or are you in the garden again?

  • Dan Robson

I fancy this game 100%. We had the beating of Spurs first game of last season before Shelvey was sent off. Our squad is better than last year, Rondon has a track record of bullying their CB’s, Perez always scores past Tottenham, their squad is unfit/injured/depleted/no new signings. Apart from Lejune, we are at full strength. 2-0 Newcastle (Rondon 38′, Perez 72′)

    • Leazes.

Anything can happen in a single game (I was at the Hereford match, we were humiliated and the next week we beat Man United away) but over the period of a season they will be massively above us…… If I were to place a bet I wouldn’t go for a home win, despite the world cup tiredness rubbish, that is a bit of mind games…. Kane and Ali will play some part in it.

      • Jezza

Agreed, even with our seven new signings, in terms of quality we are still light years behind Spurs with no signings.

        • Leazes.

Well five new replacements we already had Dubravka and the extended loan of Kenedy…… We are going to need every point again in this tussle of the also-rans.

I’ve just noticed that he’s even predicted the times of the goals….haha.

          • Jezza

Exactly, only five new players, I just said seven to avoid anybody nit picking at my comment.

          • Dan Robson

Oh, i’d never say we are better. We’re so far behind Tottenham its unfunny. But we’re still going to beat them tomorrow.

          • Ron

but we didn’t have them when we played them here last season so you could count 7

    • Jimblag23

Personally I think Perez on 73’ is far more likely.

      • Dan Robson

Absolutely no chance, i have consulted a magic 8 ball which confirmed 72′

  • Reconquista

Ashley is buying HOF. Get onto the comments sections of the national papers and let everyone know what an inept [email protected] he is.

    • ghostrider

What he does with his personal wealth is entirely up to him.

      • TheFatController

Agreed. What he does with the club Is his business too.

          • Ram Kishore

            Ben its simple ig.
Had we bought a LB and CAM yesterday we should have been fine..
Still wondering why lee didn’t get the business done for two more players.
I told i would wait until window ended to make a honest opinion..
We have improved but we could have done better for two more
positions LB and cam with the profit..
Fulham’s signing of 5 just confused me when I woke up today.
            Was it real?
            Not a good pre season
I don’t believe or say Ashleys pocketing..
But the club doesn’t have a plan and i believe Ashley’s forcing the manager out imho

          • Ben Jones

I hear ya. I can’t help thinking that the terms on Rafa’s contract were not as nailed down as he thought and the debt we owed to other clubs(~25m) has been paid off(its still money going on transfers), selling our players over 4/5 years means he only got a fraction of the outgoing sales money and was seemingly forced to not be able to buy on the same terms, obviously it doesn’t lead to a great transfer market in net spend terms, but there’s ‘enough’.

Is ‘enough’…enough? Not forever enough no, but, on the basis nothing is leaving the club, it has helped to further tidy the finances up to look real purdy for buyers, or, better placed next season to match Rafa’s ambitions, or as you say to force him out and give the new guy the funds, although 99% of me believes it’s to sell, this club is just not worth the outlay and hassle for him.

The transfer windows for me are basically, ashley knew we had money to push on after we avoided relegation 4 years ago, came on TV, talked about horses and carts and bolts knowing what he knew, we had A LOT of money to spend.

And we did, 75m net and got relegated! But spend wise an understandable window(s)

The next season was selling players to cope with championship and a 30m profit in the window, ok that’s an understandable window(s)

Next season was a small net spend of 10m and loans, first season back in the premier, still getting back on our feet financially and yet wanting to compete, ok that’s an understandable window(s)

Then we come to this season, I think 30m+ net and people would have been happy, I expected a 40m+ , for me that would have been an understandable window, but it’s not what we got is it, there’s about 50-60m ‘missing’ , as previously alluded to, I think 25m has went on past transfers and 25m has been added to our ‘what other clubs owe us’ column. That’s my guess anyway, set up to sell & no money has left the club, and certainly not for house of fraser!

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Quite but the difference is important.

        • Ram Kishore

          Bobbi u lost the bet i suppose?😂😂
Still wondering why didn’t spend on buying a lb and Cam.
Been a long time since I debated with u

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I need to have a look at my posts. I know I lost at least one, I know I won one too but there were three in total.

If it’s Megatron I lost to, I’d pay more than the bet and buy him a ticket for an away game like man C away, my big gripe with him is we’ve played games (especially in the championship) where he’s lived within 30 minutes of a match and still not bothered to go. He lives an hour’s train ride from Manchester, he could easily make the effort and still not give mike Ashley any money.

Imagine Newcastle playing within an hour of your house and you not bothering?

As for transfers, I’m not unhappy. I think we are fine at left back, I think the only weak area is right back in that Yedlin is not good at reading the game of positioning. Dummett would get into most of the EPL sides outside the top 6.

If I were buying this window, the player I’d have liked was Siri who went to Fulham. Maybe Elyounoussi who went to Southampton but Kenedy is better than him IMHO. Other than that, I’d have liked a Kenedy equivalent on the right side but I didn’t really want the Townsend move to go through.

          • Ram Kishore

I think yedlin makes up for positioning with other positive.. he’s improved a lot.. He may have improved ..
I’m saying a cover for dummet when he’s out for.some reason.. i would have liked if we had signed Myzian.. in the videos he looked good.. never seen Seri play but knew it was impossible to get him once he was linked with top 6.
Elyounossi seemed good ,.so did berisha..
We he brought in good players but we could have signed a LB or CaM .. would have been nice to see someone pushing perez play better

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

We have some cover for left back, Clark can also play left and if it were a long stint, I’d trust him more than Manquillo. Buying in ‘cover’ is always a compromise. I’d always prefer to see a youngster get a go but the stakes in the EPL make that difficult.

          • Ram Kishore

Nsoki was perfect imo.. young and versatile for CB, Lwb ,lb.. good with ball..
Yeah need young players.. but still its a problem if the player is unsettled

          • Megatron1505

I figured out how to unblock you Bobbi, just to claim my winnings which I believe is £35 in total for a net spend of less than £20m and failing to outspend the 3 teams who finished above us, or the 2 below us, 5/1 odds and still lost.

No need to buy me a ticket or concern yourself about which matches I do or don’t attend, just the cash will do.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Well done, do you have the date of the bet, I can look at the posts just to recall the rules but happy to cough up!

I think we said Sept 1st. Man City away will be easy for you, either cash or I’ll buy you your ticket and a pint, you know, you could actually support the lads for a change?

So, there’s your offer, I’ll get you a ticket in the Newcastle end and a pint of beer – total cost is over £37 OR you can just take the cash as a bank transfer.

          • Megatron1505

I’ll take the cash thanks, PayPal is fine also. Sorry, no date leaps to mind but it won’t take a clever lad like you long to track it down i’m sure.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Ok, seems strange for a football fan not to go to a match

          • Megatron1505

Just the cash, via PayPal, will be fine.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I’ll answer that, I think Tony made the fatal error of straying ever so slightly from ‘the path’.

What’s ‘the path’? It’s a very very narrow area that is the only safe passage to navigate through here.

He still has to balance the United account but as it is part of the MASH Holdings account then theres no distinction between the money he takes from any source and spends on whatever.

I would think Sky will be livid because they presume that money should go into the game in order to embellish the club!

          • mactoon

Newcastle United Football Company Ltd. is a separate company with it’s own set of accounts registered in Companies House and there will be a fairly obvious entry in the accounts if NUFC money was transferred out and used to buy HoF. I doubt that has happened but we won’t know until next year when the accounts are published. It’s being reported on the stock market that Sports Direct has bought it so more likely the consideration has come from their account not ours and will be reflected as such in their accounts.

It has its own account which has to balance once a year…

Ashley transfers all of United’s money to the parent company MASH Holdings Ltd. (Himself) for use buying in stuff. Brixton Market, HOF, Agent Provocateur etc.

If you look on the Companies House beta website: Group of companies’ accounts made up to 26 April 2016
You will see NUFC as part of the turnover…. he’s using income and balancing the accounts when they are due.

It matters not a jot where real money is held, but it wont be in a safe at SJP or under Charnley’s mattress…. he’s using it elsewhere! Its just sums.

I recommend everyone to register with the site and add to the grief.

          It’s childish, unnecessary, ineffectual…and hilarious.

Is it? No evidence so far

      • Superdooperhooper

Megatron says you owe him money from a bet . Something about a net spend this summer ?

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Get him to mail me, I was looking for my bets, I’m owed one but think I’ve got two to pay up.

        • Jezza

          The troll never pays up.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Coming from you, you fat lying piece of rusty nail. You didn’t pay our charity bet last year, you are utter scum.

      • East Durham Mag

You are so in his pocket Bobbi (or whatever you are really called ) nevermind everyone has their own opinion you are entitled to yours too.

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

The problem here is there has not been any money taken out. He could take £144m out (with notice) completely tax fee but he hasn’t. There does not have to be some underhand method of ‘trousering’ money, there is no incentive for him to do it.

          • Toon Arnie

So where do you think the £120m of tv money has gone ?

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Well, 80m on wages, seems we learn this week another £15m on
player bonuses, other running costs seem to run at £30-£40m. The rest is in the bank

He’ll decimate and run down the H of F brand then move SD into the prominent prime sites the stores hold…Metrocentre…

    • Ben Jones

For a company in a lot of trouble I think they would be very happy at just being decimated

    • SuperDesHamilton

Look at what he done to YSL a high’ish kind of make. He absolutely ran it into the ground squeezed everything out of it made it worthless he’s a leech.

He’s been waiting all his life for a chance of a huge retail thing like HOF now he’s got it…he may have all the money in the world but he’s got no class

      • Wor Lass

…..knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing – that was coined with him in mind, I`m sure!

        • SuperDesHamilton

A tried to say something like that but you’ve said it better than I could of ever put it 👍🏻
