Nottingham Forest 3 Newcastle United 1 – Absolutely shocking as 92 minutes until shot on target

On Wednesday night it has finished Nottingham Forest 3 Newcastle United 1.

Former Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy scored a header after only two minutes, an absolutely shocking Kenedy attempt at a tackle let a Forest player walk through the Brazilian and put in a cross for a close range goal.

The next 90 minutes saw almost nothing from the Magpies in response.

I can’t really think of a single player who was shouting at Rafa to pick him on Saturday at Man City.

Fabrico Fernandez was maybe the best of a bad bunch, doing relatively ok at the back and giving some leadership.

Going forward it was a no show, Muto worked hard but there was little else from any of his teammates.

Joselu was poor and put a decent headed chance wide, whilst everywhere on the pitch we were looking for quality and desire that simply wasn’t there, as in commitment to get a result tonight.

It took until 92 minutes for a shot on target, as Rondon finished really well into the far corner after having entered the fray 10 minutes earlier.

However, Forest went straight down the other end and thanks to more desperate NUFC defending went back into the lead.

Back to the other end and an obvious penalty decision as the Forest keeper took out Ayoze Perez, only for the referee to bottle the decision.

Forest counter-attacked and another feeble Kenedy effort at a tackle, another goal to kill any hopes off in the seventh minute of injury time.

It should have been a penalty to Newcastle but anybody who wants to focus on that rather than a very poor effort overall, is kidding themselves.
