If you were wondering how Newcastle United were doing on Premier League transfers on deadline day morning, compared to the other 19 clubs, an interesting table below.

Sport finance experts Sporting Intelligence have produced a table showing how much every PL club has spent on players this summer and the total value of players sold.

Subtracting sales from buys, they then show the net spend for each club.

If you are looking for Newcastle United, they are at the very top, or very bottom…depending on which way up you hold it.

According to Sporting Intelligence, Aleksandar Mitrovic and others have brought in £45,2m so far (plus young striker Ivan Toney was announced just after 9am this morning) yet to be included in these figures.

Meanwhile, the biggest buy has been Yoshinori Muto at £9.5m, with £17m spent in total according to their figures.

However, just take a look at how stark the comparisons are with other Premier League clubs with only eight hours of the Premier League window remaining…

This Premier League transfers spending table compiled by the excellent Sporting Intelligence who report on sport’s relationship with money:

As you can see, Newcastle United proudly out ahead with a minus £28.2m net ‘spend’, leaving the rest trailing…

  • East Durham Mag

What an embarrassment. #WHERE HAS THE MONEY GONE?

    • Leazes.

Keith Bishop PR agency Phone Number is available on his web site.
      it appears to be
      020 7734 9995

He might be able to say where the money has gone as the club itself stays mute.

      • TeessideMag

Had to google Keith Bishop PR agency… oh look.. a list of bad reviews on google.. I think that’s something else we need to hit.

    • Ron

I’ve not seen Rihard Keys’ payslip but I’d guess some went that way.

  • Billmag

Why can’t the Chron and National press not print that spend and profit table, it’s embarrassing for a club of our size.

    • Lewis SG

They could do it but the subject would probably be “best business done over the transfer window” with the table inverted and Newcastle standing at the top.

      • Ben Jones

Come the end of the season it could be that though couldn’t it, we’ve spent 75m net and been relegated before, no reason why our lads can’t hit the ground running and prove to be the best value of the windows. Relatively speaking

  • Big Hairy Man

Can’t wait for the end of the season. The open-top bus parade. Thousands lining the streets. The thunderous roar that resounds through the city as Rafa triumphantly hoists aloft a healthy balance sheet 🎈🎈🎉🎺🎈

    • Leazes.

Well we’ve definitely got the bus and Ashley has got the hefty wallet.

      • Big Hairy Man

However I fear it may be Pulis or Hippo Heed holding up the balance sheet.

        • Leazes.

Or José Mourinho finally gets a turn one he’s sacked, to go through the same PR game as the ‘Rafalution’…. an expensive Manager and a cutprice squad

          • Big Hairy Man

If the squad is price-cut any more Ashley will have Charnley pulling a pair of boots on.

          • Ron

            He can’t tie the laces

    • Ron

As Ashley triumphantly hoists aloft a P45 and hands it to Rafa

  • Leazes.

Ashley must be sitting there saying to himself ‘what do I have to do to get a reaction’….

Even Mr Ryder yesterday admitted in his Q&A session that Ashleys aim was to ‘run the club on a shoestring’ for his advertising….

Is the reaction finally going to come?

  • Ron

By the end of the day, we’ll have signed 3 or 4 greats. Woosh up the spending table, One small step for Sir Mike Ashley, one giant leap for the Geordie Nation ………Buzzzzz oh no the Alarm clock just as I was enjoying the season starting.

    • Leazes.

I can tell you something for nothing….. the chances of Ashley getting a knighthood ‘for services’ is pretty much nil.

A lot of businessmen when they’ve finished with life or achieved something notable or charitable will be rewarded with a state honour, OBE, CBE, KGB….I mean KBE….

Some businessmen even circumnavigate the ‘doing something nice bit’ by giving a charitable donation to a political party such as Sir John Hall who gave half a million to the conservatives to buy his own ‘honour’…. and again a further donation of £25k in 2017.

Ashleys deeds are recorded in Hansard so he’ll have to go the latter route….Arise Sir Michael of Tattville benefactor of Boris, Lord of the Shirebrook warehouse aisles.

      • Ron

I’m sure he’ll have an MA in Retail mis-management and the way he gets round the books he must be a Fellow of the Institute of Internal Auditors (FIA) – I can see it now Sir Michael Ashley MA FIA !

        • Leazes.

No…. Ashleys success in business is down to inheriting money from daddy to buy his first shop which worked, he then used OPB (other peoples brains) to scale up the operation which is essentially meant just repeating the shop idea on every high street.

His distribution network was key… cheap transport from the far east and buying up labels to stick on ‘poor quality’ items. His clientele were always people who wouldn’t pay more than a tenner for a pair of shoes. Low cost items with a known label…

The growth, he admitted took off with the online sales and distribution for home delivery, and that is why advertising is paramount, and that’s why he paid the minimum he could in order to get his advertising back on Sky.

I think the two players from Korea and Japan are probably about opening his brands in that market, they won’t do much for the club but will sell his company….. Rafa signings…. I don’t think so…. I could be wrong but it smells of the club buying players over the head of Benitez.

          • Ron

I’m not sure if you missed my feeble attempt at sarcasm. MA in Mis-management, letters after his name spelling MAFIA – an outfit known for extortion and the like.

          • Leazes.

Yes I missed it… too subtle.

      • toonterrier

I reckon he will be given the FCB award.

  • TheFatController

We shouldn’t be too harsh on Ashley.

Wolves Fulham Leicester and the like are trying harder than him to push us towards the relegation zone today.

So in the trollworld, Ashley isn’t actually all that bad.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

tell us why this is all a lie, clarko

  • Wezza

Look at that table! How damning is that! How Ashley has the nerve to get his PR people to write excuses and lies and the evidence is there for all to see. Net spend! What a joke!

  • fistsofsteel2

I’m kinda with Ashley. Why pay £20m – 50m for some tosser just to kick a ball about and then pay them £50k – 100k per week to do it.
It’s an insult to people who actually do proper jobs and get paid a pittance.
