We asked fans the question, which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle team v Chelsea?

We put together a list of the 21 players who could potentially be selected for this 4pm Sunday afternoon kick-off.

Newcastle not having lost at home to Chelsea since 2011.

This time Rafa Benitez is without:

Isaac Hayden suspended.

Kenedy ineligible.

Florian Lejeune injured.

Some very strong choices, Martin Dubravka (97%), Jamaal Lascelles (99%), and Paul Dummett (94%) all seen as automatic selections. Whilst the (expected to return) DeAndre Yedlin (83%) is also seen as a no-brainer.

However, in the absence of Florian Lejeune, no decisive choice to partner Lascelles.

Ciaran Clark (52%) getting the support of just over half the voting fans to start, whilst Fernandez has 37% support and Schar 23% to be in the team.

As per last week Salomon Rondon (98%) is the overwhelming choice to start, Joselu a feeble 3% support to be in the team.

Yoshinori Muto (73%) is also a strong choice, with Ayoze Perez getting 42% and Ki Sung-Yueng having  43% backing to get a game.

With Kenedy ineligible, Jacob Murphy (44%) just sneaks in as 11th choice, though with less than half the fans voting for him, a less than overwhelming choice.

So this is the fans choice team:

  • Peaky

Fernandez in for Clark for me and the rest is pretty much what I would like to see….however……probably Hoss & definitely Perez will start..

    • Kenny

if they do then we will lose

  • Kenny

Shake the whole lot up, drop Diame, Perez, Hoss, not going to happen though,

  • Mrkgw

Ki and Schar in for Diame and Clark. Otherwise, as I would have wanted.

    • Geordiegiants

I know nothing about Shar, so would stick with Clark, but Ki would be a good shout.

  • Scott Robinson

Subs: Mahoney, Peter Kelly, Moncur, Jinky Smith, Keegan, Cole, Ferdinand, Waddle, Hibbitt,

Dream on …did they ever play for a club like NUFC?

    • Foggy

I hater to burst any bubbles, Fairs cup in his hand, blah, blah, blah but Moncur wasn’t really that good. No way he would even get on the bench. Not even close.

      • Ashley-out

he was good enough to score 3 goals over the 2 legs in the
        Inter cities fairs cup final

    • Ashley-out

Terry McDermott would start every game for me, one of Newcastle greatest midfield players

  • Shields Mag

Rondon a definite starter over the Hoss for me……

  • 1957

The Hoss will be a certain starter, I’m told he runs about more than Rondon in training…

    • mentalman

He’ll be better at parking the bus

  • Monkseaton Magpies

It’s now Sunday and the time has come. Newcastle United V Chelsea, Rangers, Lingfield and the Mag. The protesters rot in hell.

    • Benmagpie

      Do you mean linfield?

    • kingfisher

It’s the protesters who will secure the future of our great club, not the 50,000 sheep who give Ashley their money and support.

  • Ashley-out

without Rafa that team would be hard pressed to get 25 points in a season.

  • Oldgeordie

I see the wonder striker is on Sky again spouting his rubbish. Is this what I pay my money for ?

  • fistsofsteel2

Perez has to start. He’s one of the few classy players we have.

  • Oldgeordie

Lascelles not in the squad. Injured?
