Cardiff City fans have plenty to say about Newcastle United match – Interesting

A reality check on the opening day of the season for Cardiff City fans.

Bournemouth dominating possession and easing to a 2-0 win, the visitors having only one shot on target.

Saturday sees their first home game of the season, hosting Newcastle United in the live lunchtime kick-off.

So how do Cardiff City see this first Premier League home match going?

I think the main messages coming out of the comments below, are that they don’t rate their team very highly….but don’t rate Newcastle either!

Kenedy and Ritchie get favourable comments but not the NUFC defence, based primarily on the Spurs match.

The overall perception is that if they are going to stand any chance of staying up, Cardiff City ‘have to beat teams like Newcastle.’

A key game so early in the season and many Newcastle fans will be thinking  exactly the same (needing to win on Saturday), especially with Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal up next.

Cardiff City fans comments via CCMB and Cardiff City Forum:

‘Watching the Newcastle spurs game on tv at mo.

And although it’s 2-1 spurs half time. Newcastle look decent, especially Matt Richie and the young Kenedy. Very good running at players.’

‘Ritchie’s range of passing and Kenedy’s skill we’ll have our hands full.

Not great defensively but dangerous going forward through them pair.’

‘Leicester lost yesterday yet were impressive.

Let’s be honest guys, its the Premier League. Not an easy game anywhere.’

‘Let’s not forget Shelvey doing swim away when he played for the jacks against us.

If we (the fans) can get at him from the start we could get him a card or two!

Anything we can do as fans to tilt the advantage in our favour.

Home form will be everything.’

‘2-1 City.

Newcastle looked mediocre against Spurs, particularly at the back. Need to stop Ritchie.

This has to be a game targeted as a win by Neil Warnock & we need to get off the mark.

Newcastle won 4 away from home last season, Jacks, West Ham, Stoke & Leicester.’

‘They’re dodgy at the back so I think we will score. 2-1 City.’

‘This is a must win game. Fact.’

‘I think it’s a must win.

I see some crazy scoreline happening like a 4-3 City.’

‘Even though they did have their moments against Spurs.

I am going for a 2-1 battling win for City.’

‘All about confidence……some city players seemed a bit awestruck Saturday but they’ll aclimitise.

I think Bennett, Morrison, Reid, Ralls and Hoilett are looking good – not sure if Warnock trusts Murphy yet from a defensive standpoint.’

‘3-0 City (prediction).

Could’ve been 4 or 5. (to Spurs against Newcastle).

‘It’s a might win game, we might not get too many this season.’

‘After that debacle (losing to Bournemouth), I’ll go for City 0 – Toon 6.’

‘Watched all of the Newcastle game. If they pick the same 11 they’re a bang average side. Tottenham could and should have won by 4 or more

We’ll win this 2-0.’

‘Will be difficult but hopefully home advantage will help us get at least a point. Think I’ll take a stab at 0-0.’

‘We are desperate for the win hope we go for it not play it tight next months games are not going to yeild a point, newcastle want the points so going for 2 -2 draw.’

‘Newcastle will not be coming for a draw like at perhaps some away games, they will be set up to give us a whopping.’

‘Can see us getting a win. I’d say we need to win at least ten games, and this is one that is very winnable. Still a lot of unrest at Newcastle.’

‘Talking to a Newcastle friend of mine, lots of theirs are put off by the 2AM start needed to get down here. They won’t sell out their allocation.’

‘Not doubting what you say at all mate but I’d be amazed if they didn’t sell out – Geordies missing their first away game of the season? Nah.’

‘Looking forward to this, going to this game.

Think we can get a result as well. Our home form has to be strong against these sorts of teams if we want to stay up, obviously.’
