The question today is: ‘Will Newcastle buy a striker who will score more goals next season than Aleksandar Mitrovic for Fulham?’

The Serbian international at last completed his transfer to Craven Cottage on Monday for a reported £22m, that is claimed could rise to £27m if hitting certain targets.

This isn’t a debate about whether or not Mitrovic should or shouldn’t have been sold, or whether he could/would have scored goals if staying and playing at St James Park.

What it is, is whether you are confident Newcastle United / Rafa Benitez will be able to bring in a striker in these next nine days, who is capable of scoring more goals than Mitro will for Fulham this coming season?

Last season, Newcastle’s top Premier League scorer was Ayoze Perez with eight, then Dwight Gayle on six.

So will Yoshinori Muto be able to outscore Aleksandar Mitrovic, once his work permit clears.

Alternatively, will Salomon Rondon (or whoever else comes in – if anybody…) be able to outdo Mitrovic in the goals department in 2018/19?

So how confident are you that the amount of money available and/or Rafa’s expertise, will give Newcastle a good enough goalscorer for the season ahead?

Haha. I voted no because Perez will get all the goals.

  • Leazes.

If £22m gets you an 8 goal striker and £180 million gets you a 30 goal striker….. how much will Ashley sanction…..

    A. £15m
    B. £10m
    C. £5m
    D. £3 loan fee on an 8 goal a season striker.

      d.

      • Leazes.

        Correct have a point

      • SuperDesHamilton

        You love the d

    • Jezza

None of the above. There will be no more signings. The reinvestment from the Mitro fee went on Muto. NUFC delayed the Mitro sale till they were in a position to announce Muto. That’s your new striker. That’s your lot.

  • Oldgeordie

Question should be Will Newcastle sign a striker? never mind if he will score goals

    • Wor Lass

      Correct!

  • Scottie Chugger Dearden

I voted no but I don’t think he’s going to score that many.

  • robbersdog

I don’t think Mitro will score as many goals as Fulham fans expect him to. If we signed Rondon, I’d tip him to score more – even though I don’t rate him particularly highly.

    • Jezza

I agree. I don’t think Mitro will be particularly prolific at Fulham. He won’t get 20 Premiership goals but I think he’ll do OK and I do think he will score more than any Newcastle player next season.

      • Peaky

Bound to get a couple against us though Jezza….at least.

        • pedrodelgardo

          Before his red card ……

    • Geordiegiants

He won’t be anything like he was in the championship. You only have to look at Gayle and Clark down there to see the divide between there and here.

      • Mike Adam

Time will tell, but we need a goalscorer here! I don’t think we can afford to have anywhere near 14 matches without scoring a goal again.

    • panther

That’s not why they want him, they have a good team, a few players will get goals because of him

  • Paul Patterson

Perez got 10 goals and Gayle 6, last season and we only kicked on after January when Kenedy arrived.
So I’m thinking their goals would increase by around half if played week in week out. So let’s say Gayle gets 10+ and Perez 15+.
That will be a great return from those two players.

Question for tomorrow….”Is Mike Ashley still be a thieving fatcunt ??”……

  • Leicester Mag

See nearly 20% still hanging out with the lost boys in never never land

  • Jimblag23

    Ridiculous website.

  • GlasgowMag

Who cares he is not our player anymore. hopefully the constant Mitro articles will also stop as they are becoming a bit tedious especially for a player that wasn’t that good in the first place, but for what it’s worth that’s just my opinion!!!

    • Billmag

The Mitro fan club will be out in force whenever he scores a goal, this website was still on about HBA years after he left.

      • MichaelMaximusMoose

After every game this season Mitro will feature in the Chron
you can put money on that

        • Billmag

Correct 👍 have you read Douglas article on NUFC finances if they are not in the pocket of the club I will show my ariss in Fenwick’s window.

  • glassjawsh-got-banned

since we won’t “buy” ANY striker, this post is entirely absurd

  • Nut

At his previous clubs Rondon has been a 1/2 striker, only since being at West Brom under Pulis has this dropped off as Pulis had him stick to a much stricter team shape.

After Pulis left he got more of a free role and his goals started to come.

Rondón will score given the opportunity in a decent side.

Mitrovic doesn’t like sticking to a team game plan or holding shape as Rafa likes at times and so even in a Fulham side focused on him alone I don’t see him getting big goals.

I think Fulham are going to realise later in the season he was a waste of money.

    • 1957

They’ve either just or are about to sign a £20m CB cherry picked from a relegated side, next year they could be doing that to us unless we get a competent goalscorer. In the only decent leagues he played in Rondons record is almost 1in 3 for league games, 1 in 4 if you include cups.

    • Danimal

They’re a bigger club than us now. That isn’t saying much.

    • Mike Adam

You can say West Brom wasn’t a good side but we couldn’t beat them last season, in fact they beat us.
I respect your opinion but greatly disagree. I believe Fulham dances to Mitro’s tune and he will succeed this season with at least 15 goals, just my prediction.
Rondon has played 8,236 minutes in the EPL over 3 seasons and has scored 24 goals with 7 assists over those 3 seasons. Mitro has played a total of 2,206 minutes in the EPL and scored 10 goals with 4 assists. I really don’t think there is or was any difference between West Brom and Newcastle during the years each player played their minutes in the EPL.
Anyway we can take what we want from those stats but one player has age on his side and I believe is continuing to improve regardless of your criticisms.
Do you know what is really interesting? They have the same birth date Sept. 16. But Rondon is 5 years older.
I do think Rondon will fit Rafa’s system very well and should be better than anyone we have currently. Hopefully they both do well.
We will only know at the end of the season though.

  • pedrodelgardo

    Yes, sorry I mean no.

  • Martin Rooney

Not a chance, an absolute waste of talent by the manager he’ll be in the top ten strikers and we’ll be defending

    • Billmag

      Bet he isn’t.

  • MichaelMaximusMoose

Will Mitro score more at Fulham than any of our strikers, i think he will.
i think i`ll have a bet on that one

  • Martin Rooney

Anyone think there is an omen in him being the opposition for the last game of the season?

    • panther

      Mitro puts us down

      • 1957

And Benitez leaves because Ashley wouldn’t let him buy a replacement who would run about more, follows instructions better and rarely pick up cards…

  • Wezza

    An emphatic NO!
We won’t BUY anyone but we may LOAN them. Muto is Mitrovic’s replacement anyway.
35M transfer window profit as it stands, 126M TV money (in mash Holdings) and we won’t buy just loan. Why does anyone think he will change. 12 years of lies.
If we sell Lascelles all hell will break loose and considering his wage he may even want to go!

    • Kev Newcastle England

Dont vote on it.Its just a question set up to ANTAGONIZE fans deliberately by these wan kers.
