The club have confirmed the new Newcastle United away shirt for next season.

A leaked image (see below) was circulated two weeks ago and this has been proved to be right on the money.

The new shirt is very similar to the one worn back in the mid-90s by Kevin Keegan’s team (also see below).

The new design goes on sale in early August, eight days before NUFC kick off their Premier League season at home to Spurs.

Newcastle United Official Announcement – Monday 9 July 2018:

Newcastle United have revealed the club’s stunning new PUMA away kit for the 2018/19 season.

Launched under #TheFabricOfNewcastle banner, the kit is a contemporary take on the Magpies’ iconic change strip worn during the 1995/96 season.

Featuring maroon and blue hoops, ivory shorts and maroon socks with a blue trim, the kit is complemented by a gold club crest and gold FUN88 branding.

For the first time, the players’ kit will also incorporate PUMA’s evoKNIT technology.

On the reverse, the kits will feature names and numbers in white.

The kit was revealed on Monday in a specially-commissioned ‘fabric’ illustration with several city landmarks as a backdrop, including the Tyne Bridge, St. James’ Park and the stadium’s Sir Bobby Robson statue.

A number of former players who wore the original kit – David Ginola, Warren Barton and Les Ferdinand – also feature, while there’s a special nod to the late Pavel Srníček, who was part of the Entertainers squad.

Newcastle United’s brand new PUMA away kit will be available at the stadium store and at nufcdirect.com from 3rd August 2018.

The Mag – 27 June 2018

A new photo said to be the new 2018/19 Newcastle United away shirt is now circulating.

Last season saw the club/Puma use a marketing gimmick of creating a new one-off badge for 2017/18, to ‘celebrate’ 125 years in the club’s history.

Now we are returning to the kind of of badge that has been used regularly in recent times.

This new image claimed to be next season’s away design, is said to be already on sale in Turkey, and appears to confirm the exclusive from Footy Headlines back in April (see below).

Two weeks ago, Newcastle United confirmed that they were expecting the three new 2018/19 strips to be launched in early July.

The players are back at the training ground on Monday, so feasibly they could be taking the official photos of the team in the new strips then, before an official launch.

This is the latest image circulating of the leaked new Newcastle United away shirt for next season:

The Mag- 27 April 2018:

This is how the new away shirt will allegedly look:

The more observant will have noticed that it bears a canny resemblance to the popular away shirt worn by Kevin Keegan’s side in the mid-90s (see below).

  • Paul Patterson

Although it’s a good shirt, I still feel that someone somewhere is trying to lynch off the past for brownie points.
The design should have been left as an iconic memory of our 90’s pomp and a new design sought . .

    • Leazes.

Seems like there’s no innovation or design, just off the peg stuff which is strange as the owner has so many links with the manufacturing process….. and can produce them, ship them and market them cheaper than any other retailer in the country.

      …..Perplexing.

      • Paul Patterson

        Can adidas not sue?

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It wasn’t their design, they copied an old shirt from 1896.

Can adidas sue Puma for using stripes.

          • Paul Patterson

Yeah, I was joking, but the premise is the shirt is a simple copy . .

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It is, our umbro away yellow was a copy of the Bukta away yellow etc etc. football shirts tend to be a play on previous designs.

I’d not complain too much, you may see red white and blue SD stripes!

          • Paul Patterson

I’m surprised that hasn’t happened, or at least the sponsorship hasn’t appeared on the shirts . .

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

We know sponsorship is worth £8m a year, the perimeter advertising for clubs is usually 1/2 the sponsorship deal.

With some justification, Mike Ashley can claim his loan is worth far more to NUFC than perimeter advertising. He would leave himself open to abuse if he had the sponsorship as well as the interest he forgoes is around £10m and to include sponsorship, he’ll get close to exceeding that figure.

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

That 1996 shirt was a copy of a shirt from over 100 years ago.

I like a bit of classic, as a pair, it’s the best shirt we’ve had since 1996.

      • SuperDesHamilton

You would know since you probably went to said games back then, being an absolute über fan

        • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

I would know as I actually took note of why the shirt was launched back in ’96. IIRC, we wore it first at Gary Mabutt’s testimonial away to Spurs.

          • SuperDesHamilton

            That’s because you’re a football bore.

One of those loners that everyone tries to avoid eye contact with in the pub in case you come over & give them a statistical break down of the 67 fairs cup final

          • Rich Lawson

We won it in 1969,’67 Leeds got beat by Zagreb ?

          • SuperDesHamilton

right…..and??? If I meant Newcastle I will of said that. The whole point being he’s a football bore…a bit like yourself, unless you’re a BBB?

          • Rich Lawson

Nah,I think you just got the date wrong, dunno what a BBB is but I know the history of my club and was at the final

          • SuperDesHamilton

Aye I got the date wrong, with google at my fingers tips…

So much for knowing anything about football then.

You’re either really really old or just a liar. I’m willing to say it’s a bit of both

          • Rich Lawson

I don’t lie on here, but I am old,14 when I was at that game, doesn’t make me a bad person or a BBB tho’ ? Altho’ looking at your post now it would be funnier if he was talking bout the Leeds/Zagreb game,I hate Leeds.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Well a BBB is the main ultra group of Dinamo Zagreb

          • Rich Lawson

            Like that.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

It was the ’69 fairs cup final actually.

          • Rich Lawson

Thank you Bob,just said that below but it was not appreciated.

          • SuperDesHamilton

But the point being is made that you’re such a tedious football bore you know every stat because you’re so utterly BORING

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

So your problem is that I know my stats, facts and figures so every time someone makes something up, I have the audacity to put them right?

I’d have thought this was useful to stop people making outlandish claims only to find they are a load of nonsense.

          • SuperDesHamilton

No I’m trying to say you’re absolutely boring. Theirs knowing facts & being an anorak. You & your brother are anoraks

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

If you find me boring, that’s fine. At least you know I’m right.

          • SuperDesHamilton

            Yeah…a right bore.

          • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

            Very good Desmond.

          • Ram Kishore

He just mentioned the last trophy we won and was making a genuine correction and all u do is slag them off for no reason🤔

          • SuperDesHamilton

What correction, there was no need for a correction you gimp.

          • Ram Kishore

U said it was 67..That was the correction that was made..
U don’t need to use a derogatory word to reply back pal.. silly

          • SuperDesHamilton

I said 67 correct I didn’t say when Newcastle won it did I? You assumed that so you’re wrong.

If I wanted to change it wouldn’t I have checked on google or edited it?

Think before you jump in half head.

    • Tony English

It’s a variation on the theme, but different enough to that 90’s shirt to stand alone and hopefully make it’s own memories.

I like it, but still think whenever there is no clash away from home we should ALWAYS wear black and white.

  • SuperDesHamilton

They’ll do anything to distract the fans

    • Peaky

You’re right….they must be keeping “a new owner imminent” in the locker for later use.

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

Who’d have thought they’d launch a kit in the summer?

      • SuperDesHamilton

Ohhhhh the brothers Lee, so absolutely easy to rattle.

    • Tony English

Every club in the land releases new kit….but ours are of course specifically released to “distract the fans”.

I bet they start playing pre season games soon to “distract the fans”.

      • SuperDesHamilton

The ode to 96 the fact the fans love the original all diverts from the money not being spent. I know you’re agenda won’t let you sway from any other thinking mr. Irish but broaden your mind

        • Tony English

If I didn’t know better I’d say you were making an additional point to the one I responded to. You should be a politician.

You’ll be sure to let me know what my agenda is won’t you, because if it’s outside of:
          a) I have never voiced 1 word in support of Ashley and would love him gone
          b) I rate Rafa and think he could do wonders with funding
          c) I appreciate the effort and workrate of the current players above any of the so-called-superstar flair of every regime since Sir Bobby’s at it’s best.

And as for taking the mickey out of my surname (which is actually of Irish origin) I can guarantee I’ve heard every hilarious pun on it since I was 5 years old at school….but then you won’t believe that as my real name is Mr.Lee apparently.

          • SuperDesHamilton

It took you 3 hours to think of that reply.

            Must. Try.Harder

          • Tony English

I spent three hours having imaginary lunch with my imaginary wife, having my imaginary head shaved in a battle against imaginary male pattern baldness, and collecting imaginary timber samples for an imaginary client.

And now I’m responding after picking my imaginary son up from his imaginary school.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Goodness me that’s very very sad, you seen a doctor?

          • Tony English

Did it take you fourteen minutes to type that with your big tiger paws Des?

          • SuperDesHamilton

Dunno do you think a tiger could type on a keyboard

          • Tony English

So that’s a fake profile picture? And that gurning green gonad with sunglasses on isn’t Leazes real face?

Jeez, I though you and your cabal were transparent and honest and everyone else on here was a fake?

          • SuperDesHamilton

Yeah I look exactly like an anthrimophtic tiger…

You and your brother seem to have a huge hard on for this leezes fella, it’s quite disturbing

          • Tony English

            Haha, funny as ****, respect.

I appreciate your praise for the solidity and scale of my hard ons.

I’ll keep my eyes open for you in the away sections in London next season my furry friend.

Off to do some work, argue with you later Desmond.

          • Lhc#Freetommyrobinson

            😂🤣😂

  • TheNutJob

    Putrid

    • Leazes.

Its tasteful…. I know about these things.

      • Tony English

It’s only the mock up’s that have the white border on the badge, the club released images have a dark border…but of course you’ve blocked me seeing as I’m 20 other people so won’t be able to read this.

        • Ram Kishore

          U r on a rampage Tony..😂👍👍 keep it up

          • SuperDesHamilton

Tony English, aka the Lee brothers

          • Ram Kishore

Tony clearly mentioned who he is and where he’s from..Why do u have to be such a bully old man..
            Grow up

          • SuperDesHamilton

Bully, old man. Are you bi-polar?

          • Ram Kishore

I thought u were very old and sad… yeah maybe I’m bi polar 😂..
I will let u know once I find it

          • SuperDesHamilton

No just you & your pals. You clearly haven’t read this have you.

You’ve had a mare here & your looking a bit silly.

Harsh being old and stinking & resorting to trying to get attention online.

            Call the Samaritans pal

          • Ram Kishore

            No lol.. I’m only 24.
If I’m silly let me be because if u read my comments with a open mind u know i am not being a gimp..
But u r just acting like a troll or bully or something i don’t know .. whichever seems less bad u can take a pick for yourself.

If I had wanted attention i would be popping up with messages and i would try to use a different nom de plume.

          • Lhc#Freetommyrobinson

            😂🤣😂 class👍

          • Ram Kishore

So whomever has a different opinion to u..Is one of the lee brothers..
            😂😂

          • SuperDesHamilton

No but I’m skeptical with all the best friends who like & comment have barely and comments themselves the comments revolve around defending each other hmmmmm.

          • Ram Kishore

I would love to have a ambitious owner than Ashley but I don’t go around slagging off or calling around someone as trolls or lee brothers.. They see things a bit different that’s all
I once had a different opinion to that of Leazes..All he did was class me as a using a fake name saying i was not even Indian ..Just using a fake account..

          • SuperDesHamilton

You’re looking at this from just there viewpoint, hmmmmm…..

          • Ram Kishore

I usually visit mag to read comments to get a balanced understanding.. i know Ashley is not the best but not the worst..
I have my own view.. also i am frustrated at many of Ashley’s mistakes but I do know the difference between a troll and a person who makes a opinion

          • Tony English

Hah ha oh aye, call me Mr.Lee, despite the fact I gave out my home address and invited all and especially sundry to look at the content of my social media page which shows a Felling born Newcastle fan living in Highbury with kids wearing Newcastle strips and me and my 10 year old boy at various matches. I reckon you’re not really Des Hamilton.

          • SuperDesHamilton

Why would you do that you weirdo?

          • Tony English

Because I have absolutely nothing to hide, unlike several vacuous wind bag keyboard warriors on here.

          • SuperDesHamilton

We know you & your brother so you didn’t need to tell everyone already

          • Tony English

            You know my brother?

My only brother, eighteen months older than me, the one who has zero interest in football and has only been to half a match in his life on the Gallowgate terrace, and left because a bloke covered in pie kept bumping into him and he had a bag of records he’d just bought from Pet Sounds.

A postman in Shotts North Lanarkshire, who’s about to have a life of leisure when he moves to Dubai with his (3rd) wife, a Canadian born lass who has landed a cushy job.

Remind me what his name is again?

The only thing you know about me, is what I tell you. You know nowt.

          • SuperDesHamilton

            Absolutely rattled 😂😂😂😂

            I bet your foaming

          • Tony English

            Haha, sorry Des, no.

I’m sat here laughing at Theresa May talking more nonsense than you…are you going to tell me it took me 12 minutes to work out that response?

          • SuperDesHamilton

I can just imagine you throwing stuff at th tele absolutely furious, shouting at your brother ‘he’s calling big mike names again’

          • Tony English

Oh aye. If he could hear me shouting from Highbury to Lanarkshire I’d have to be in a proper strop for him to hear me!

As I said I haven’t once said a word in favour of Big Mike, and I guess you don’t shop in his store either….only the one oversized mug in your house.

            Fairs Cup 1967?

          • SuperDesHamilton

I did you misjudge how good my hearing is

          • Tony English

Your hearing must be better than your ability to recall dates Desmond.

      • TheNutJob

        Putrid

  • TheFatController

In a year, we’ll be told the commercial revenue from shirt sales won’t be realised as transfer spend til 2021 earliest for some reason …

    • Dont stop bobbi fleckman

      Eh?

  • Leazes.

I’ve got the retro one with the blue star online at only £30 from scoredraw dot com

Which is much cheaper than S**** D*****t

    • SuperDesHamilton

I paid for 40 quid for the real Adidas blue away shirt 96/97 off classic football shirts.

Heavy material almost died in Bangkok with it on. Bloke came up to me and said you sports Newcastle mate? I said yeah he said do you know Monkseaton mag, he’s that famous

  • Toon 83

We dont need reminders of past failures. Why people look back at that time as “great” is beyond me. 12 point lead blown, I try to blank it out

    • Leazes.

Its relative…. that’s the world that the chronicle live in too!

    • mactoon

It was great because it was the best free flowing and scoring football I have ever seen and I would include the current Man City team in that. 1992 – 97 were the best years watching Newcastle for me, even though we didn’t win anything I am pleased to say I was there to witness it.

      • Toon 83

It was exciting to watch, but we can’t compare it to the current Man City team to be fair. They’ve got substance to go along with the flair. The arsenal invincibles and the current city team surpass anything else seen in this country in terms of style. Each to their own I guess, but that newcastle side will always remind me of failure

    • Weyhhadaway

When it is the closest you have come to winning anything in two generations it is all we got, sadly. As others have said it was the best football we have seen at the Toon.

  • Weyhhadaway

And nobody mentions the “rule” that we would only replace one jersey per year? don’t buy it. follow the links posted by other people on here and go retro.

    • Paul Patterson

There always seems to be a reason to change the kit. Anniversaries, sponsor changes, etc.

  • Geordiegiants

The players and the team that wore that strip were head and shoulders above any player we have now. I know some of these lot might go on about failure, but they were by a mile the best time ever to support Newcastle. The atmosphere around the city was electric.

  • foggy

    It’s bloody awful.

  • Mrkgw

Not quite the original but, probably one of the best premiership shirts out there. Personally, I think that it looks good. Now we need a decent side to wear the thing!

  • Rob

Nice shirt. Shame these things are double what I’m willing to pay.

Therefore I’ll stick with reasonably priced retro kits.
