In five weeks time Newcastle take on Spurs and Jamaal Lascelles can’t wait for it to come around.
In August 2017 the Newcastle Captain found himself starting the season on the bench with Lejeune and Clark in front of him, not much chance of him being left out this time around.
In less than five weeks time we have the new style early summer transfer window closure and with Ki Sung-Yueng the only new player to be signed up, Jamaal Lascelles echoes the wishes of the fans, saying ‘I’m really looking forward to seeing some new faces in here.’
However, he insists that whoever arrives, nothing will change in terms of the togetherness and commitment, Lascelles stating ‘We are loyal. A hard working young group of players – it is going to stay that way.’
Jamaal Lacelles talking to NUFC TV:
“Great to be back after a tough season but very successful one.
“I have been for a few holidays with my family and my partner, she’s pregnant at the moment. Baby’s due in September so just chilling out really.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing some new faces in here. Seeing the rest of the boys, get back running.
“We play for one another…we play for the badge.
“We play for the fans, the staff and, of course, our families.
“There is not one player here that would try to just play here to try and get a move.
“It is not about that – we are loyal.
“A hard working young group of players – it is going to stay that way.”
“It’s nice to be back (at training ground), I have kind of missed it to be honest.
“Just looking forward to getting the friendlies out of the way, make sure we are flying for the first game of the season.
“Other boys at clubs tell me they just turn up, train and go home but with us lot we’re looking forward to seeing each other and we don’t just shoot off home.
“We have got high team chemistry and everybody gets on, which is why we had success last season.”
